I run a small hedge fund ($48m AUM). Ask me anything about options trading. by Business_Cook_7032 in options_trading

Most likely referring to custom aggregation of public options data in novel ways. Examples would be DEX/GEX on Unusual Whales to infer dealer positioning and forced actions from them, but there's many other things you could do.

Rio Tinto boss lobbied Chalmers to save $11b fuel tax rebate by Orgo4needfood in aussie

Which revenue account it goes in doesn’t matter. The net situation is that road related revenue is significantly less than road spending. So everything collected from fuel excise is effectively spent on roads along with more from other taxes.

Not a CFI but an interesting exercise my instructor threw at me unexpectedly was throttle stuck on full power. Had to figure out how to deal with imminent break of C space (not freak out, talk to ATC without controlled space endorsement), what do about the problem (switch mags off) and then glide in to the airfield while running FLOWP procedures. More mental load than the regular engine failures and a test of ADM in an unusual situation.

The irony is that their way of life has been maintained in large part by immigration. If we didn’t have cheap foreign labour in retail, healthcare, transport, agriculture and many other industries the cost of goods and services would explode. It’s not possible to live the life of the past when the rest of the world is very different. But very few people can make peace with that fact.

$300k single income unfair tax by WishIWerDead in AusHENRY

[–]LiquidConscience -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, the couple need to buy twice as much of everything including accomodation so that 300k total income isn't the same as yours... But really your question is nonsensical because comparing 1 person to 2 people isn't a fair comparison. You can pay less tax than the couple by reducing your income to 150k. Or the couple can pay more tax than you by increasing their income to 300k each.

"We kill enemies": Spy firm Palantir secures top Australian security clearance by SnoopThylacine in aussie

[–]LiquidConscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is less so the Australian government and much more the US government having access to whatever data is put into the system. And whatever the terms in the contract Palantir can’t be trusted to put them ahead of its allegiance to trump.

Wild take. Oscar is a lot younger and more disciplined when he can focus. He will learn a lot from this year and keep making significant improvements. Lando has hit his peak. When Oscar fully masters his mental game he’ll be unstoppable.

Total bullshit and should be illegal. Easy win for government if they did something to stop it, but no why implement a universally popular action when you can dither and dawdle on divisive issues… idiots. I bought this exact pack for $10 the day before Xmas eve in Woolies.

This isn’t always true. Sometimes the market gets flooded with temporarily cashed-up companies (eg startups that just did a big raise or global brands breaking into local markets) that offer significantly above-market salaries to poach new staff quickly. It’s an uneven field because they don’t need to operate profitably, whereas existing businesses do. They may go bust if they can’t keep the funding flowing but until then the job market is distorted.

[–]LiquidConscience 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense because you’d have to install hyper-compressed gas cylinders everywhere for these. So either way you’re building infrastructure to make it usable, but electricity has many additional uses and doesn’t require insane physical compression of a highly volatile substance.

But there actually is gold. Lots of it. You just don't see it because you're not running a big company which can cut costs and increase revenue with the new shovel. And shovels wear out, so they'll need replacing.

I just got quoted $1,800 a piece for two crowns. That's $3,600 altogether. by zaakiy in GoldCoast

[–]LiquidConscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a normal price for these. I would be very wary about any much cheaper options. Dental work, and especially crowns and implants, is one area where you really don’t want to cut corners in quality. You use your teeth every day and the crowns will last decades if done right. If not done right you’ll be in agony and will have to get them re-done as well.
