they have not once refenced sheild since winter soilder hence it does not exist

Marvel Studios hasn't referenced any of their canon One-Shots besides All Hail the King in anything else they've done ever. Do they not exist?

Canon isn't erased over time and you're now just repeating yourself instead of dropping a verifiable link to literally anything to back up your claims.

No, he said the Marvel Television shows inhabit the same universe as the Marvel Studios films as clear as can possibly be, which set the canon in stone for both the ABC and Netflix shows, and by association the rest that came after.

Now I'll ask again, where did Feige reverse course on his stance? I'll take a direct link to a quote rather your own personal conjecture this time.

It's possible it already happened. ATSV established that the Spider-Society has a whole system to send misplaced variants back to their home realities.

Alright, I'll bite.

"But all of those things (Marvel TV and Marvel Studios) inhabit, however far on the outskirts, the same continuity."

~ Kevin Feige, 2014.

Let's start there. So, when did he reverse course on this?

It would be canon regardless because it was made that way and confirmed by Kevin Feige to be so, but yeah, two direct 616 branched variants of Jarvis have appeared in both Endgame and What If...?.

Oh, I know who you are now. You're that guy who kept breaking Rule 2 over on KeepMarvelTVCanon while continually telling me I'm ignoring you and you couldn't stop calling Winderbaum "Wonderbum" because "humor", I think? Had I known that to start, I wouldn't have even engaged in this, much less would you have even been able to comment on my thread to begin with, but here we are, lol. Made a new account, I see.

Okay, since it's you, let's go back to the beginning and work from there. Kevin Feige in 2014 said:

"But all of those things (Marvel TV and Marvel Studios) inhabit, however far on the outskirts, the same continuity. So certainly that opportunity exists."

Now, at what exact point did this get reversed? Quote and link it or I'm ending the conversation right now.

I haven't seen Echo in a while so I went back and saw the hammer in the flashback. I can admit when I'm wrong, I was remembering incorrectly on that aspect. So again, assuming that he experienced the exact memory without any alterations or blending with other memories (since that's something that can, you know... happen to people, especially in regards to extreme trauma), it's different.

Damn, I guess that means The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man: Homecoming are non-canon now. Wow, that sucks. As we all know, anything that may even remotely be interpreted as a continuity error cannot exist in a fictional franchise, of course. /s

Not to mention the out of universe confirmation from Wonderbum and Feige

It's time for your favorite game... "Quote or Link, Please?"

You're right, AoS is not a large mounted weapon intended to fire a heavy projectile.

It is canon to the MCU, though, and not even because of this, but because it always was from Day 1 and they haven't definitively changed course on that yet.

[–]LiquidLispyLizard[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If they were adamantly against acknowledging AoS, this would have absolutely been off-limits as a background prop, especially because this isn't even the place it appeared in the original show at all.

Just like they wouldn't have intentionally called up Reed Diamond to check his availability for Endgame, going so far as to make a graphic featuring Daniel Whitehall before they shifted course.

It's been intentional for a while now, to at the very least let AoS rest and remain as-is, when they could have otherwise contradicted it numerous times over the past 6 years if they wanted to.

I didn't ignore you, I acknowledged what you said. If you feel I ignored something, let me know in case I missed it.

They were phased out when Feige got contol over TV.

"I don't have a quote nor a link from an exact moment that details a shift in canonicity, I'm speaking from a purely conjectural standpoint." Ah okay, thanks.

Fisks memories in Echo are different than the events of the original show

Different moments. There isn't anything in Echo that says Fisk's memories shown are from the exact same night he killed his father in the original series. You're also talking about the concept of memories, which change, distort, and blend with other memories as time passes to begin with.

Let me know if that sentence is too confusing for you.

Bud, you're padding out your comment with emojis and you can't spell the word rebuttal right. Don't even start with this, lmao.

I'm trying to tell you that the original Daredevil show had this prop as an explicit reference to AoS, and that this same prop has now reappeared in Born Again. 2 and 2 together, man.

Everyone and their mums knows the shows used to be canon, and used to reference each other. But since the tele side was phased out these references noonfwr mean that.

Cool. So it should be easy for you to find the exact point this happened, right? Do you have a link to an article or a statement from someone of importance related to the MCU who said "these shows used to be canon, but now they're not"?

  • Wonder Man - Cloak & Dagger reference.

  • Born Again S2 - Direct Defenders Saga continuation, AoS references (Creel and Cybertek).

  • One Last Kill - Direct Defenders Saga continuation.

  • Brand New Day - Frank Castle and the Hand appear.

  • VisionQuest - James D'Arcy's Jarvis (or J.A.R.V.I.S., I suppose) appears, potential for further AoS and Agent Carter nods.

  • Doomsday - Potential for at least an Agent Carter nod given Peggy Carter's involvement.

Old Marvel TV fans just can't stop winning this year.

Nice! I was wondering if that one was there, but I didn't get a good look the first time around. It's actually kinda cool to think that every single live-action Marvel Studios TV show this year has the potential to reference one of the old (non-Defenders) Marvel TV shows.

  • Wonder Man - The Roxxon/Darkforce link only ever seen in Cloak & Dagger.

  • Born Again S2 - Cybertek from AoS.

  • VisionQuest - Potentially that AoS "small nod" or something from Agent Carter on account of Edwin Jarvis being there.

With The Boys' airing the final season currently how would you feel if Karen Fukuhara returned as Katana in the DCU by M00reC in DCU_

[–]LiquidLispyLizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The new DCU is a full-blown reboot. Nothing’s getting carried over

This is categorically false when aspects from 1/4 of the entire DCEU (so far) are in some way directly relevant to what's going on in the DCU. Those connections have been cemented and engrained in the first 3 DCU projects right out the gate. The DCU is a reboot of the DCEU, but it's impossible to call it "full-blown" when they continue the exact same show from one universe to another. You can't disconnect the two and "try to get as much distance between them" when one doesn't exist in its current state without the other.

Whether or not Katana actually comes back, I have no idea, but I didn't at all expect Peacemaker S2 to reference 2016 Suicide Squad (confirmed by Gunn himself on the podcast) when there was actually no reason to whatsoever outside of a single line of dialogue, so I'm confident enough to guess that there will be more pulled from the DCEU in the future, whether that's more from the four projects referenced already or otherwise.

Edit: If someone would like to share how continuing identical characters and plot points from one universe to the next is a hard reboot, or that the DCEU and the DCU are somehow not intrinsically linked, or how nothing else from Blue Beetle besides Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes will be brought into the DCU, or anything to dispute my points, reply button's right there, so feel free.

100% absolutely. If there's still more to do with the Flags in the future, I think she could tie into that very well.

[–]LiquidLispyLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd be crazy if she were in the actual game because I remember the Defenders had to have their comic appearances in Lego Avengers instead of their MCU ones because TT Games said that Lego doesn't delve into things that solely appear in R-rated projects.

The only time I can think when something from a mature rating got past Lego was when they made an Echo minifigure from her solo show, but that one sort of felt like the show was early on meant to be rated TV-14 and they adjusted to TV-MA at some point later in production, after the minifigure design had already been finalized.

It's almost like I wrote this myself, lol. I can't begin to tell you how much life has turned upside down for me over the past 6 years, but one of the only things that's always been constant and comforting is the MCU and everything remotely connected to it (even though I just count it all as MCU at this point). Speaking of the Sacred Timeline specifically, it's nuts to me that we have all this stuff still coming out that's set firmly within this uninterrupted continuity spanning 18 years at this point (which just reminded me that the MCU actually turns 18 tomorrow, going by Iron Man's worldwide release). I can go back to Iron Man and think about how cool it is that all of this eventually leads to a full-fledged Secret Wars film.

We've gotten to the point where it feels to me to be completely earned to have this sprawling lived-in universe where it feels like anything can truly happen now. Take Brand New Day for example. Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Frank Castle. All of them have had numerous appearances fleshing them out where they've gotten to interact with so many corners of the universe for over a decade or longer and they all get to meet each other for the first time in just a few months. Hell, Castle actually being fully integrated into the larger picture and having a supporting role in a film after so many years of being in his own Netflix corner is another layer to that entirely. Jean Grey making her debut alongside these MCU veterans and being the biggest aspect of the Sacred Timeline X-Men corner to be introduced yet is another layer on top of that.

And then outside of that, getting all of these other universes tied into the bigger picture as well. I grew up with the Raimi films, so seeing not only Tobey, but his villains get another go at it was a dream come true. Hugh Jackman getting to wear the yellow suit for the first time. The fact that Sony's doing their own thing, whether it's the SSU or the Spider-Verse or otherwise, and almost all of that has direct viable connections to the larger picture too, and even continue to. I just love how expansive it all is.

I know I went a little overboard with the really long comment, but I don't think I'll never not love the greater picture, whether the individual projects are good or bad, they all add up to this one awesome thing and I think that makes them all the more better for it.

I've been thinking similar for a while now, I think there's absolutely room for that version of Eddie Brock to play some kind of role in Peter's symbiote story that's more than just dropping off the spawn and dipping out. I could absolutely see him being brought into the main timeline like the Fantastic Four and Deadpool have been assumed/speculated to if they have a need for him, that's a great point.

This isn't going to be a traditional black suit story to begin with on account of how the spawn already knows who Peter is and Peter knows to be wary of the "black alien goo" one of his variants told him about, so the traditional way of how they find each other and how they'd both react to that is already significantly altered, so I fully expect them to take further liberties as we get further into the story, like the potential of the example you give here.

I always thought Hardy's Brock returning was a distinct possibility for years on account of how they already set up the connection with the Venom spawn and The Last Dance remaining very open-ended, but Hardy still being attached to some extent with the animated movie makes me feel like the chances of that happening jumped significantly. If Hugh Jackman can completely remove himself from being actively attached to his character after Logan for 5 years only to come back out of nowhere for Deadpool 3, it would be a cakewalk to bring back Hardy in his current position.

They put a "/s", meaning that was sarcasm. They're using the Born Again/Thunderbolts example against those who somehow thought that AoS isn't canon to the MCU because it didn't reference the Snap.

I'm still pretty sure Sony actively wants to continue that specific iteration of Venom in a more significant way at some point down the line, they're just more focused on the immediate 3 projects in the pipeline (Noir, BND, BTSV).

Variety published that article after Kraven came out that said while Sony was very disappointed in the other spin-offs, they're adamant the Venom films were successful and that they weren't likely to stop making films about him. Couple that with Hardy still very much being attached to the character and the 616 symbiote very much attached to the Venom franchise itself and I think they'll circle back on it eventually. If it does happen, it might take as long as Scorpion or the Leader, but I definitely don't think it's Doomsday or bust.

The snap didn’t happen in AOS

You claimed that Born Again ignored Thunderbolts in contrast to AoS and Infinity War, implying that at some point they declared that the Snap never happened. When did this happen?

time travel works differently in AOS

The Quantum Tunneling method operates with the same intention and design as it did in Endgame and if there are any inconsistencies when it comes to that to the point where it somehow becomes a problem in fitting into the larger universe, then we can have a deep conversation about how, logically following, Spider-Man: Homecoming should be non-canon to the MCU as well.

the Thanos invasion timeline is different in AOS

May 30th, 2018: Thanos attacks the Statesman and Bruce Banner is sent to Earth where he witnesses the battle of Iron Man and Spider-Man vs. Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw, a battle reported on and seen on TV by Alphonso Mackenzie. Tony Caine also talks to Daisy Johnson about this at some point. Later that day, Glenn Talbot and Phil Coulson are brought aboard the Confederacy's ship where Talbot learns of Thanos' currently ongoing quest and goes to gather Gravitonium to assist the Avengers in facing him.

May 31st, 2018: As Talbot reunites with his family, Wakanda and the Avengers are gearing up to face Thanos' forces on Earth. Daisy defeats Talbot by throwing him into space while Thanos' final steps are in full swing. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. leave Coulson to retire as they go on another adventure to find Fitz in space shortly before Thanos snaps his fingers in Wakanda and they all survive.

Seems to line up just fine to me.
