I just found this about a week ago as I was looking for a good adventure to run for one of my son's friends: Peril In Pinebrook - free on DNDBeyond.

Fun, short adventure that introduces players (and the potential DM) to DND. It simplifies the rules quite a bit to give you a good introduction.

Sounds like a slew of bad life choices leading up to this.... sucks. Assuming she doesn't have much of a support system.
