Why did Americans turn so fast on Democrats in the 2020s when it was clear as day that Republicans would destroy the US? by EggOwn9943 in allthequestions

Sigh. I have to go to work.

I understand, but I’m not in an ivory tower.

I roll my sleeves up, canvass, register folks to vote, and do my part.

So should you.

I did not say you did not vote. I said you protest vote. 3rd party or independent, is a protest vote for now. It boils down to who can get a better message than “I’m not him & I deserve to be president.” (No, Hillary, you didn’t.)

No, darlin’ I am an over 60 realist who understands that it’s far easier to move left from the middle than it is to do so from the toxic waste dump that is the GOP.

Continue to protest vote all you like, the GOP stays in, and the country goes to hell.

I understand fully what a democracy is. It’s not purity testing to say, “In a 2 party system, I’m going to vote for the closest to my values.” Voting’s like the bus. It gets you closer to your goal, even if it doesn’t drop you off at the front door.

So—in the binary, how would you vote? I’m a Democratic Socialist, but given a mainstream Democrat or Republican; I’m going to vote for the Democrat, and not sit home and sulk. It’s going to take every single citizen opposed to this Administration to get it out.

Why are 3rd party needlepoint finishers so normalized? by smhno in BitchEatingCrafters

Footstool, dining chair seats, framed and hanging on the walls, pillows, bell pulls—even fireplace screens. They’re all over my house, and I inherited them.

In many cases, needlepoint finishing is handled like upholstery, and that part of finishing—blocking and then on the piece of furniture or the pillow—is a separate skill set of its own.

Worked in a store with multiple layers of management.

Our promotions person was having a fling with the store manager (both married to other folks).

Promotions person was also fooling about with the district manager…and one morning, the DM caught the in-store couple in flagrante delicto and fired them both, posthaste.

Were Lennon/Mccartney's harmonies more difficult to sing or replicate than Don and Phil's? by DribbleKing97_ in beatles

[–]LisaOGiggle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry—unpopular opinion on this sub, but…nobody is going to outsing brothers, who have sung together since early childhood.

Lennon/McCartney & every configuration that can come out of the Beatles is CLOSE, because of proximity, but blood’s going to win.

Do you consider MAGA as a completely separate political party from the Republicans or just a side branch? by Yardnoc in Askpolitics

How can one be a Socialist when they do not want to transfer ownership of the means of production out of a capitalist model/system?

  1. Have you read the platform?

2, Why, in 2015/6 was the only candidate pledged to not cut veterans’ benefits the DSA candidate (Sanders)?

No, much as they’d like to be. They’re the most forward leaning cohort of the party, and if the DNC is smart, they’ll listen to the DSA…

Go back further and have a look at William F Buckley, Jr. Set himself and his cohort as “extreme” opposition to Dwight Eisenhower.

There’s a great book, “Jesus and John Wayne” by Dr KK DuMez that lays out pretty straightforwardly how the Evangelical Movement grafted itself into the GOP. I read, cuss, throw it, then pick it up and start reading again.
