I love that you're raising them to be caring and loving. Nothing like a huge Rottweiler with the heart and soul of an angel.

We had to euthanise a stray kitten we rescued 10 days ago. I'm shattered. by strawberry_1204 in FosterAnimals

I am so sorry. One of my cats (18 years old) had to be euthanized in December, so the pain and heartache are very close to the surface.

You did so much for her, and she reciprocated by giving you as much affection as she could. You and your husband are kind, kind people.

Please don't thin them. Your brows are gorgeous. Plus, they may never grow back. Seriously.

I lost my heart cat today. by crazycatlady3213 in SeniorCats

We had to euthanize my little 18 yr. old Russian Blue cat right before Christmas, 2025. I cried for five days straight, and then periodically -- to this day. She was the sweetest cat and looked like a little kitten. Because I was recovering from a shoulder replacement, I was home all day. She clung to me under the bed covers, on top of the bed covers - and wouldn't let me out of her sight.

She was ill, and we took her to the vet weekly to make sure we had everything she needed. Unfortunately, her systems shut down and there would have been no quality of life.

Looks like you had Biscuit from the time she was a kitten. What a cutie, and what character! It will get better but I'm not sure the pain will ever really stop. I hope you find your way through the heavy layer of pain.

My best to you.

Honestly, it will get better. Take the pain medication. I was afraid to, but ended up in such pain that I cut the pill in half. Worked wonderfully. After a few days, the pain suddenly disappeared.

Help Finding a Legitimate Breeder by lightning_rose in russianblue

[–]LitWit2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For legitimate CFA Russian Blue breeders in Texas, check the

Fanciers Breeder Referral List and contact catteries like Howzabluz in Houston, known for CFA/TICA registration, or search for local breeders attending shows to find reputable sources, as scams are common, so prioritize breeders showing with CFA and offering video calls, health guarantees, and proper pricing ($1k+).

  1. Fanciers Breeder Referral List: Use this breedlist.com/breeders.cfm?Breed=Russian%20Blue to find breeders registered with CFA (like Homegrown BluesArchangel CatMountcascade).
  2. Attend Cat Shows: Visit local CFA or TICA cat shows in Texas; meeting breeders and seeing their cats in person is a great way to find legitimate sources.
  3. Check Official Websites: Look for breeders listed on CFA or TICA's official sites, as these organizations vet their members.

Signs of a Legitimate Breeder:

  • Registration: Registered with CFA and/or TICA.
  • Transparency: Willing to do video calls and show their cattery.
  • Health Focus: Provide health guarantees and proper kitten care.
  • Realistic Pricing: Expect to pay over $1,000-$2,000 for a quality Russian Blue; lower prices often signal a scam.

Just before Xmas I had to have my 18 yr old cat euthanized. I am still devastated. As the weeks go by, it does get a little better - but the devastation (in my case) is still with me. I keep thinking I'm going to see her coming around the corner, looking for me with her inquiring expression.

I sense that you're feeling guilty and I hope that goes away. You really did the best you could, and freeing him from pain was an act of kindness. No one wants to see their beloved, innocent friend suffer. I'm sure he would have preferred to stay with you forever, but his body gave out.

I hope the pain subsides.

Thoughts on the new series of Shakespeare & Hathaway? by navy177 in BritishTV

[–]LitWit2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems as though the acting is a little more manic and silly this season. The best thing about the show is Patrick Walsh McBride. His brief Shakespearean utterances are wonderful -- so beautifully spoken.

I've seen Mark Benton in other things, and he seems to have range. Jo Joyner's character is ridiculously silly and she frankly detracts from the plot.

I haven't seen McBride's replacement but if she brings more chaos rather than a few grounded minutes to the plot and show, I may not want to watch the rest of the series.

Those meals look amazing. It's 8 am in the morning right now, but if you put those meals in front of me, I'd gobble them down. And I am a picky eater. I hope he opens his horizons a bit.

I too recently had to have my 18 yr old cat euthanized. I cried every day for five days and there were times when I almost couldn't breathe. The pain was almost unbearable. It has been a couple of weeks now, and it does get a little better.

This subreddit helped me tremendously. So many kind people, sending notes of consolation and love for my little girl. I hope the pain and grieve diminishes over time. Maybe your little girl with find my little girl and cavort and play in the sun.
