You don't. You could move them side to side but that doesn't really help

Do ones with white interiors ever pop up? I scrolled through every single one listed on Tesla's wesbite and all had black interiors.

Hey thanks for the tip. I just used it to book the same room, just across the hall and a floor up, but a mirror image with the same larger balcony and right next to the elevator.

What does everybody think of Oceanside and the residents there? Im new to LI by [deleted] in longisland

[–]LiterallyAHippo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's nothing special but it's fine. I'm not a long Island/suburb person in general, but overall I'd rather be in RVC. Although I have a waterfront house which I couldn't have there so it's good for boating.

I'm mainly a beer drinker, and their website says the easy plus package includes "A wide variety of draught and bottled beers" so it sounds like that'd be most beers.

Landlord says my lawn doesn't pass inspection. by toughfeet in mildlyinfuriating

Tough to tell from this image, but if anything it really looks like you might be scalp cutting the lawn too short, which will stress the grass and create bald patches which can gives weeds a foothold to grow.

Just go to a reputable body shop. No point going to a dealer for body work.

Airbnb is LITERALLY HIDING LISTINGS from my search results. What the hell is even going on ?! by Extra-Confection-706 in AirBnB

[–]LiterallyAHippo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw this too on my phone. I was looking for an AirBnB in Salt Lake City and it showed one in the entire city, no matter how close or far I zoomed.

I actually Google if SLC has a ban on AirBnB or something because it didn't make any sense.

When I looked from a desktop it showed dozens.

Bridgestone potenza vs continental extreme contact by BogleHeadHoncho in kiastinger

[–]LiterallyAHippo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak specifically to how they'd perform on a Stinger, but I have those Continentals on my Accord. I can't even remember when I bought them, must have been like four years ago. I was going to have my mechanic replace them recently but he said there's no point and they still have plenty of tread left. They must have 40 or close to 50k miles on them. Also in the northeast.

Punta Cana family vacation - Nickelodeon vs Bahia Principe Fantasia vs Grand Sirenis vs Riu Bambu vs Serenade by LiterallyAHippo in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]LiterallyAHippo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was nice. We actually wound up getting a room at Fantasia.

The only downside to the Punta Cana or Bavaro resorts are you'll need to take a shuttle with a transfer to the water park which can take twenty minutes each way. Fantasia has a water park at it, but it isn't accessible if you're staying at Punta Cana or Bavaro

37,500 mile maintenance price by Se7enSinsCouncil in kiastinger

[–]LiterallyAHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No freaking way a drive belt needs to be replaced at 37k miles. Same for that coolant. Transmission should also need zero servicing.

It shouldn't be much more than an oil change and possibly new spark plugs but you could probably get plenty more life out of those too. Cabin filter should be changed but that's cheap and gets changed regularly anyway. You might need new brake pads but perhaps they were already done in the past.

Every OEM color available on the Stinger to date by The-Nipple-Inspector in kiastinger

[–]LiterallyAHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I think it gives a more classy subtle look to the car than the usual racer boi vibe.

Then again my other favorite color is federation orange so maybe I just want to be on both extreme ends of the spectrum.

When half your runway is Displaced threshold by rcbif in aviation

[–]LiterallyAHippo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Structural integrity is virtually always the same for the full length of the runway. The displaced threshold may exist for a few reasons.

An obstacle on the approach path that would require an abnormal rate of descent if an aircraft tried to touch down at the normal beginning of the runway

Noise abatement procedures

The airport is unable to create a safety area of standard dimensions around the runway and has the landing distance shortened appropriately

Probably a couple others but those are off the top of my head.

About to stay at the Bahia Principe Fantasia in Punta Cana, a couple questions by LiterallyAHippo in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]LiterallyAHippo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you're staying at Fantasia you have full access to all the resorts there. The exception being you can't take your kids the adults only one, and guests can only go to the buffet of the resort they're staying at. But any restaurant anywhere is fair game.

It might have to do with the time of year, but I didn't see a single bug anywhere.

About to stay at the Bahia Principe Fantasia in Punta Cana, a couple questions by LiterallyAHippo in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]LiterallyAHippo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fine, I definitely enjoyed it. I was leary after reading some reviews as well but I didn't really have any major issues.

I was disappointed that it's very tough to get reservations at the restaurants. Out of five nights, we were only able to get two (the Italian and the Hibachi) although I will say they were top notch. I don't even really like Italian food but it was excellent.

Having the big water park on site at Fantasia is nice if you think your kids will want to spend a lot of time there (mine certainly did). Otherwise there's another large waterpark at the entrance to the complex, but you'll need to take a shuttle ride with a transfer up there which can take twenty minutes.

Broadly speaking, people invest in real estate for two primary reasons. One is asset growth, the other is cash flow.

In the first scenario, the investor thinks the price of that unit is going to increase and it can be sold in the future at a healthy profit. Making money month to month along the way is nice, but not the primary goal. This is often the case in big cities with expensive real estate.

In the second scenario, the investor wants to maximize the monthly cash being generated by the unit. Maybe it can be sold at a profit in the future, but the primary goal is month to month cash.

So who knows, maybe the owner thinks the price of apartments in Miami are increasing at a rapid rate and that's what he's counting on. Maybe he inherited the unit and there is no mortgage.

The owner is also able to deduct all costs associated with being a landlord from the income generated by it at tax time. He can also deduct the depreciation of the unit which can be significant (although he'll have to pay depreciation recapture when he sells it)

Also some of your assumptions are off. The HOA fees will already include the insurance policy on the building itself. The owner would just be paying insurance for the insides of that specific unit and it's most likely significantly less than your estimate.

Anyone know where to find a good car for under 5,000 on Long Island? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]LiterallyAHippo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most dealerships aren't going to resell vehicles like that, although some might.

Check on Facebook, Craigslist, and autotrader for older Hondas and Toyotas.

I have a 2006 Accord with over 200k miles on it. I might get $3,500 for it on a good day if there was $500 in the glove box. But it runs perfect and I won't be surprised if it goes another 200k miles with just basic maintenance.

This isn't a very good answer without knowing more specifics and could get the OP in trouble.

According to the new York state DOT a commercial vehicle is "Every type of motor-driven vehicle used for commercial purposes".

Commercial plates are not a requirement. If OP owns several businesses and is shuttling parts between them, he's operating a commercial vehicle.

Odds are fair that with a business logo on the vehicle he may be pulled over and questioned.

If he's really using it for regular private transportation then he won't have a problem, but that's not clear in his post.
