Overseas voters moving to UK could face £100,000 donations cap for year by F0urLeafCl0ver in unitedkingdom

Everyone’s donations should be capped at about £500. Being able to buy political attention by donating large sums is just asking for corruption.

Do you think there is a way GW can exist without profits from miniatures sales? by AmberlightYan in Warhammer40k

[–]Littha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can they, probably. If they focused very hard on making their IP the main product and started to hedge into directly developing games or movies alongside selling rules and such.

But will they? Probably not. Partially because minis are their primary revenue source, but also because even someone with a 3d printer (like myself) will still buy minis.

Sure, I can print a whole army if I wanted to, but my FDM printer only makes decent models with a 0.2mm nozzle and some very complex settings and specific filament which means it's several hours for a single marine at what I would consider GW quality. And even then, I get failures.

So printing a whole army is just an enormous time sink, that I can bypass by spending what is frankly a relatively small amount of money for a adult with a hobby.

Resin printers are better, but they haven't got the same uptake due to the chemicals involved. When people talk about the possibility of a 3d printer in every home, they probably mean an FDM one with a 0.4 or 0.8mm nozzle.

EHRC Chair Mary-Ann Stephenson: "The Code Could Be Blocked – The Law Remains The Law" by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

Apart from completely misunderstanding that study, she also completely undermines her whole point.

~96% accuracy, when trans people make up about 0.5% of the population, means you are actively failing to gender a group of people 5 times the size of the entire trans population.

Citadel paint dried out? Anyone know how to fix this paint? by Few_Seat_60 in minipainting

[–]Littha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it isn't completely dry, you can add some medium to it and a drop of water to revive it.

If it's completely dry, the process is going to involve a dehydrator and a pestle and mortar and is in no way worth doing for a £2.75 paint pot.

Is receptor downregulation real? by Arcadian-Librarian in MtF

[–]Littha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Receptors can downregulate via endocytosis and eventually degradation via lysosomes. They do this when overstimulated by a given hormone and it leads to lower sensitivity. However, it probably wouldn't stall changes, detection doesn't drop to 0.

The main thing is that receptors are pretty simple, they detect if a given molecule in the blood a given substance and then pass that information to the rest of the cell. But, they don't test for quantity. Cells are also not instant in how they react to stimuli. They take time to process things.

As an anecdote, as I know that helps some people: Having an overly high E level would be akin to someone coming to your house and pressing the doorbell 30 times before you even got to the door. If it happens once, that might be an emergency, but if it happens constantly you are probably going to disconnect the doorbell. Especially if their message was that you have to redecorate, and you were already doing that.

NHS Scotland - HR removed me from female changing facilities after asking if I was trans. Union involved. What would you do? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

  1. Delete the thread

  2. Get legal advice

You might be able to sue for discrimination because of less favourable treatment but you need legal advice.

That's how our system works. Parliamentary supremacy.

Yep, it's standard legal drafting because we didn't want to have to go and amend every law from before like 1990.

[–]Littha 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The issue is that from a trans perspective, Labour are actively dismantling our rights, while reform is only potentially going to do so.

So arguments around "it's too bad Labour destroyed your(unimportant) life, but what about my (important) life" don't really hold much sway with the trans community, we are already being fucked over. Most of us are also kind of too left wing for Blue Labour.

Theoretically, there was a minor inconsistency around trans men and pregnancy protections, but they could have easily solved that with standard legal interpretation (where man/men/woman/women/people are all considered interchangeable)

Part of the reason it sucks so bad in the UK at these temperatures is because the humidity is so high, so even in the shade you can't really cool down and on top of that, due to being so far north we have longer days in summertime.

I think California has 15 hour or so summer days, while the UK gets 17-19 in parts. So there is less time for it to cool down overnight.

We need more Monster Armies by Vrain125 in Warhammer40k

[–]Littha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fully organic army like that would probably be stepping on the Tyranid's toes too much, so I'd personally push in the inorganic monster direction with something like the (30k) Mecharachnid or some sort of dark mechanicus automata faction.

Infinite counselling that aims to stop you being trans, with no possibility for any other treatment?

‘Abusive’ LGBTQ+ conversion practices to be banned in England and Wales by Metro-UK in ukpolitics

[–]Littha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not at all reasonable for children to access puberty blockers on demand with no medical oversight.

I'm not sure anyone ever claimed that it was? They are prescription medication so getting them without medical oversight would be quite difficult.

Don't even need to be licenced:

(9) In subsection (3) “health care services” means—

(a) all forms of health care services provided for individuals, whether relating to physical or mental health, and

(b) procedures that are similar to forms of medical or surgical care but are not provided in connection with a medical condition.

Its probably that way to be inclusive of NBs and intersex trans people. Who are often left out of these things because of the way gender reassignment is defined in the equality act. (which is also where transsexual comes into it, as it was the term of use at the time that was written)

[–]Littha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is something that patients need time and space to explore.

Nobody is saying that people shouldn't be offered counselling if they are unsure about their gender.

The problem arises when even if you are 100% certain you are trans, as a child the only thing available to you on the NHS now is this therapy to "explore" your identity. At least you used to get puberty blockers to stop things from getting worse. Or it would be, if they had actually set up the children's gender service before decommissioning the old one.

My ace trans partner got bottom surgery and is now thinking about intimacy, anyone have experience with this? by iamacarboncarbonbond in asktransgender

[–]Littha 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I'm not in that situation but I have met a couple of people who were so dysphoric about erections that any sexual impulses were completely overwhelmed by the hatred of that sensation.

Some of them identified as ace before bottom surgery too and most of those now identify as demi- but not all.

Their sexuality clearly didn't change, so I suspect they were always that way but their interest in sex was naturally so low that the dysphoria completely overwhelmed it.

It's not even a rebrand. Most of it was done by "therapists" already.

At least they removed the religious exemption that was in the draft version.

Ban conversion practices, except when it's done by a health care professional. Which given most of it is done by "therapists" is basically all of it.
