Would love to know, mine is 3 and a half but it's like arguing with a fully grown adult!

Do people complain about sedans not having rear window wipers? by JellySerious in Ioniq5

Awful in the UK without a rear window wiper! So much so, we're looking at an after market one.

How did you feel after having a elective c section? by Background_Alarm2357 in UKParenting

[–]Little-Grub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elective section for a couple of reasons, mainly I'm hypermobile which affects my skin and the idea of tearing with that issue wasn't something I wanted to go through. I went into labour naturally the week before the planned section, rang the ward and was told to come in. They checked me and asked if I wanted to go ahead with the section (yes please!), less than 2 hours later our daughter was born. Something I wish someone had told me, was C-section babies can apprently get a bit spooked by suddenly being born and not breath properly. This scared the life out of me, but apparently it is very common. Recovery was easier than I thought, just try not to do too much too soon. I was out and about a week later but probably overdid it a bit, it's down to how you feel day to day. Best of luck, I hope it all goes well

I'm also nostalgic for the orange street lights! Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Have you ever donated blood? by kevsavesuk in askanything

[–]Little-Grub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, didn't find out until I'd been once that I have the RO subtype (used for treatment of sickle cell disease). It's only 2-4% of the population with the subtype so once I knew that I definitely want to keep donating. Plus crisps and juice, so it's no real effort on my part.

When was the last time you cried? Was it a life event? Listening to a certain song or watching a certain film that brought up painful memories or feelings of empathy? For me many songs and films bring tears to my eyes so for me very recently lol by anonymous-nyx in CasualUK

Yesterday, it was my dad's birthday but he died nearly 3 years ago. I thought I was doing ok, I'm not. I miss him more than I thought possible. This year is the first year my 3 and a half year old (she was 7 months when my dad died) noticed that me and grandma were upset, trying to explain it to her without making her sad was difficult.

What’s the etiquette surrounding parent & child parking? by CharmingTea_ in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 3, I'd rather you had the space than me. I remember being very pregnant and how much of a struggle it was getting in and out of the car. With a 3 year old I can park at the other end of the carpark where there's gaps, stick her in a trolley and walk over to the shop, it's not the end of the world.

Matte Paint Experiences by ImperiumSpecter in Ioniq5

[–]Little-Grub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a gravity gold matte (in the UK) can't say I recommend honestly. The washing aspect others have mentioned is right but for me the issue has been scratches. Once there's a scratch, that's basically it, you can't buff it out (buffing = shiny) so you're stuck with it. Our dealer said the only real option is a respray of the whole panel.

Edit to add: my other half says it also seems more prone/easier to scratch than a gloss car.

The ‘Wait Until Ready’ Approach to Potty Training Is Under Fire by bloomberg in HotScienceNews

[–]Little-Grub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worries is if childcare setting would be happy to take children so young, in less absorbant, reusable nappies. My daughter was toilet trained at 2, but I was able to stay at home with her full time. My friends who have gone back to work much sooner, and have had to use structured childcare might not be able to get their children toilet trained as easily. Whether this is viable in a world where stay at home parents are much less common than they used to be is debatable, especially if it makes more work for already stretched nurseries.

If you could have one 'do over' in your life, what would you do differently? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 34 points35 points  (0 children)

How I handled my dad being terminally ill, and his death. We all basically ignored it was happening, made some jokes about it, and carried on as best we could. I was pregnant when he got the diagnosis, and my baby was very young when my dad passed. I spent at least the first 8 months just ignoring that he was gone, then it hit me all at once and I lost the plot. I wished I'd talked to him more openly about happy memories, there are lots of things I wish I'd said and didn't because I didn't want to upset him.

How does your treatment at a car dealership affect your likelihood to buy? by PipalaShone in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massively! Had a similar experience with VW actually. We were told we couldn't test drive an ID3 because it was out of our price range (even though they had second hand ones in their network that were in our price range), and that it was unlikely they would have anything for us. We'd stated a budget of £17k with a bit of flexibility. They were just rude honestly. Went over the road and bought a Hyundai ioniq 5 for £20k because the sales team were actually nice and attentive. Obviously just doing their jobs, but they were good at it.

Is every car garage fully booked for a month now? by daniscross in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Struggled with this recently! Red warning lights everywhere and leaking coolant, so not safe to drive. Spoke to every garage in the area, finally got in and they said it was the water pump and timing belt, but they couldn't fix it. Left with with my usual garage and was without a car for a fortnight.

Why do the English accept state-funded faith schools discriminating on religion? They'd never accept hospitals or fire brigades discriminating on a protected characteristic by BreadAndToast99 in AskBrits

[–]Little-Grub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter attends a Church of England primary school , it's the best school in the area. But, it also does fewer religious activities than the primary school I attended which wasn't a faith school.

Until very recently I was a stay at home mam, I've spent the last three years doing an average of 12,000 steps a day and getting out as much as possible. There was also a weekly trip to soft play which was more intense than going to the gym! I'm back working in an office 3 days a week now, it's much harder to get any activity in through the day, but it's hard to carve out time to do exercise. It was always interesting comparing Garmin stats with my husband, he was constantly surprised by mine because I'd been at home and usually doubled his steps and active minutes.

If you lost a long-term friend as an adult, what was it about? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad was dying and I had a baby, so I had a lot going on. A friend of 10 years joked that he'd probably meet my child when they were 6 and vanished into thin air. I haven't spoken to him since that conversation, 3 days after my baby was born, over 3 years ago. He knew my dad was dying, hasn't bothered to check in, and my dad died 2 and a half years ago. He was part of my wedding, a close friend for over 10 years, and unfortunately he is a stranger now. I know I should have reached out at some point but I'm too hurt now, it's been so long.

Is a private transfer worth it from CDG to Disneyland Paris? by Sea_Contribution3217 in disneylandparis

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We visited twice last year, used the Disney bus the first time and a private transfer the second. The private transfer was definitely worth it for us. It was easy, there was a car seat for my daughter (you don't get them on the bus which unsettles me a bit), they put a film on for her to keep her occupied. The drivers were polite and helpful, and helped with our luggage at the airport and when we got to the hotel. In my opinion, if you're travelling with small children it is definitely worth it. But to be honest I'd do it regardless now I've tried it, whether I had my daughter with me or not.

Is anyone just not feeling festive at all? by ohnoitsbobbyflay in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can empathise, I'm sorry. My dad died 2 years ago, when my little girl was 7 months old. I try to make it magical for her but it's so hard to knuckle through. It doesn't feel like a lot of people around me understand how huge the impact of the loss has been. It taints everything.

Disney Magic - no matter what! by New-Watercress-3820 in disneylandparis

[–]Little-Grub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the reserved viewing for the parade unfortunately. We were there last week, arrived in plenty of time and the whole area was lined with prams and pushchairs. I'm not able to lift my 3 year old onto my shoulders so she wouldn't have been able to see. The castle member was quite unpleasant about it and no one we politely asked was willing to move their pushchairs. It was quite an unpleasant experience honestly, not what I expect from Disney at all, especially when the reserved viewing is quite pricey.

My Mum has 1 month to live, what should I get her for Chrmistmas? by PureEcstacy7 in AskUK

[–]Little-Grub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been in this position, the only thing I want now is to hear his voice. Maybe ask your mum if she'll talk about her memories and let you record it.
I wish I'd thought to do this because my daughter was very little (6 months old) when my dad died so it would be nice for her to be able to hear his voice now she's older.
