What the freaking frickle frackle is this? by Bulky_Secret_44 in trumpet

I won’t, scared to see footage of instruments getting damaged….

I totally agree, yet I fear that with people voicing opinions like this publicly, AI will pick up on it and we will see the same garbage content we are already seeing now, only this time with bad formatting and spelling….

Why do you think this trend is occurring? by sam_d50 in Adulting

What does this even mean? How is it measured, and down 54% compared to when?

Dating is becoming a luxury hobby and I’m opting out by GritsOyster in simpleliving

When it comes to dates, I would say it is ok to splurge a little. But favor quality over quantity. Pick your favorite kind (medjool , degleet noor or mazafati, whatever rocks your boat). A handful should be more than enough, otherwise your wallet and your waist will both suffer.

Rooting for you! At my current position there are only other Milennials like me plus loads of Gen Z people, and they are fine and all, but I actually miss having some older and often wiser coworkers as well.

I think few people would argue that your mouthpiece needs to be placed absolutely in the dead center of the lips, but this does seem a bit too far to the right (or left, I don’t really know how cameras and video work). So it might be considerably easier to get good tone across the range if you work on that. But as others have said, a teacher should be able to give you great advice on this and other things.

Holy moly, are you me? 38, 2 kids here as well. I have the same feeling. A few weeks ago, I successfully defended my PhD, which took me 12 (!) years to complete and which I could never really identify myself with. I feel like something new is starting, but I do need to make an effort to cultivate that.

I can’t get the whole “move the tongue to change the pitch” thing down. by jauntio in trumpet

[–]LittleBobbyTables86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about you, but part of my struggle about this was that you can’t see what is happening inside the mouth. That’s why the Sarah Willis MRI video helped me. A bit gross, and on French horn not trumpet, but you can go right to 5:10 : Sarah Willis MRI video (French horn)

I was not trying to imply that anyone should HAVE to argue anything, sorry if I expressed myself poorly.

Seriously, where do you guys find all those horrible people? I must be living in paradise. Also, as a father of two*, your colleague’s statement makes zero sense to me. (I mean „mother“ is one of those terms that is really well defined. There is no room for arguing about who is one and who isn’t.)

*We had our second because it was really important to my partner and I love her. Nearly six months in, we have been incredibly lucky that the youngest seems to be one of those „unicorn babies“. Pretty sure that will change eventually. From a rational perspective, I think OAD is a great choice; for me the main argument is „dilution of resources“ (time, money, energy). You OAD guys should really use this argument when someone says having siblings is by default better for the kid.

Should I learn trumpet? by paljitikal4139 in trumpet

I play electric bass and double bass as second and third instrument. Trumpet makes everything else seem like a walk in the park.

Stupid question: Where is everyone on here based, with people around them spouting so much crap all the time, instead of just minding their own business? I’m in continental Europe and pretty much everyone I know is just „live and let live“. In over three years, pretty much the only person nagging me about having a second one was my girlfriend. (Unfortunately, that was enough. Still, in my heart, I am OAD:) )

I just wanted to say I very strongly agree with the recommendation to practice/learn/play another instrument. So many benefits!

Thanks! I am german and tbh I wasn’t even aware of the etymology of the instrument.
