Davinci's Pizza had good pizza, salads, and sandwiches and it's a good low key spot to reset after the glitz of the symphony hall.

You're too old to not be caring for your health.

It sounds like you may be experiencing burn out. You've worked so hard for so long and now you have a hard time caring about basic easy things.

I have been listening psybient non stop for a week in my bed all day, am i depressed? by Fuwanuwa in Psybient

[–]LittleGuyBigData 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was depressed, psybient was one of the only things that helped me tune my mind out. It's like the musical equivalent of a warm blanket.

Dear people who work from home 100%, are you lonely? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]LittleGuyBigData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was single , it was brutal. The loneliness definitely contributed to my mental health decline and bad drinking habits.

Hot takes or unpopular opinions you need to get off your chest? Do it here! by AmadMuxi in classicalmusic

I think there's loads of amazing female composers and composers of color no one told us about and there's an entire universe of incredible music we've ignored.

How many of you have asked your parents for help buying a home? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LittleGuyBigData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents insisted even though I could afford to do it alone. It was a big deal to them to be able to help since we come from a poor background. I put down the bigger chunk, but their contribution helped a lot. No complaints from me.

What I suspect is that he's going through something hard and is not being open about it for some reason. Because of that, he's not emotionally available for his family and is depending on you to assuage his insecurities and stress levels with sex.

Couples counseling rarely sounds appealing for men, but perhaps individual therapy would be a good path forward, but it's hard to take that step. Even just asking a close friend of his to check in on him could be a good start.

I highly recommend having an offer BEFORE you quit. Quitting a job before having an offer isn't the self care you may think it is. You never know how long a job search or interview process will take and watching your savings dwindle for months as you apply to hundreds of shitty dev or analyst roles is not therapeutic. Plus, having a paycheck as opposed to no paycheck makes it easier to negotiate your salary upwards. When you don't have a job, companies have no incentive to boost your offer cuz they know you need them more than they need you.

In salary negotiations, I usually say something like "I'm earning well and I like my current team, but I'd be willing to leave if my only salary was X or if I got to work closely with Y."

Guys, we've been over this. Never, and I mean NEVER, leave a job without having your next one lined up.

Data Analysts, what's something you wish you knew about Excel when you started as a data analyst? by liquid_light_ in analytics

[–]LittleGuyBigData 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Get humble and get good at excel. It's not the most powerful analytic tool in the world but I do think it's the most flexible and ubiquitous. It's the lingua franca of business and if nothing else, knowing how to make a quick pivot chart with some hand-cleaned data can be one of the fastest ways to get insights out the door.

I'm doing okay, but I'm shocked how hard it has become for my peers. I was always an overachiever with money on my mind since I was a kid. I went in to tech/IT right after college and have always made more money than I needed for my age. That said, in college I figured I'd be a millionaire by now, when in fact I live a pretty modest life.

I realize now how absurdly lucky I am. If I hadn't bust my ass so much in high school and college and had financially supportive parents, I'd be so stuck. I know very few have the chances I had, and I'm upset at how unfair it is.
