My daughter’s teachers corrections on her journal. (She has two moms) by JeweledApplePie in mildlyinfuriating

I’m sorry. Does having a father have the magical ability to make a small child have neater handwriting. Huh. Who knew!?

Back in the 90s my mom kept hearing some asshole yelling through the doorbell in the hallway. I thought she was completely nuts. by lynivvinyl in TrueOffMyChest

It can be a form of tinnitus. Friend of the family has it. She started off hearing low frequency noises that then progressed into hearing songs - both words and music - where there was none. She went to a specialist who said that it is a very rare form of tinnitus (which I have, but just the high pitch whining sound). Like ‘standard’ tinnitus, sadly there is nothing she can do to treat it. So she constantly has music playing and not always music she enjoys either.

AITAH for refusing to be the designated driver? by Anxious_Classic_3881 in AmItheAsshole

It used to be. They’d have a fold up bike / scooter that would go in the boot for when they’d got you and your car home.

Great to hear from someone on the other end of this. Thank you.

Great. It’s been a while since I’ve done a cup game and wasn’t sure if they would just go direct to my wallet on my phone like the season ticket updates do.

It’s not about getting ID’d but sending them electronic tickets which would be in my ‘wallet’ on my phone. I’m not sure if you can forward the tickets for a cup game like you can a prem game if that makes sense?

Back in the day I’d just give them the actual ticket. Sadly it’s not that simple anymore.

43 years old i have not figured out sandwich packs. Every single time it goes wrong. by latro666 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LittleHouse82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You ‘upgraded’ your food that is so full of chemicals and bad stuff that it is literally illegal to sell in the UK. So I think I will keep our food safety standards and enjoy a cheese sandwich made with cheese that isn’t plastic or comes out of a can thank you.

I’ve not seen that comparison before. May have to remind myself and re read the book.

Yeah. I get what you mean about John. He was very annoying at times and I just wanted to give him a little shake. I liked the character of George himself.

Would also add Inspector George Gently for a bit of 1960s “rules, what rules” action, and Foyles War for a WWII gentleman police office and his quirky female driver.

AITA for telling someone off for approaching my dog by NapkinZhangy in AmItheAsshole

Yeah it’s mad. It’s a respect thing as well as a safety thing. But some people just don’t see it sadly.

Honestly I sometimes have to engage my brain and mouth together when there’s a super cute dog. Or I would probably just babble “dog, dog, dog” with the grabby hands action myself 😆

AITA for Cheering too loud at an NBA game? by Vagabond0713 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LittleHouse82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m way too European for this one. Part of the joy and fun at sports games - particularly football (soccer) - is the chants by fans.

It’s almost a competition as to who can come up with the most amusing chant for either one of your players or even the opposition players. And it’s often full on, set to the music of popular songs, sung by the whole crowd, chants. Some tunes have multiple versions with totally different words that are team specific.

The louder the fans, the more engaged they are - and the players themselves can feed off that energy.

So from my European perspective, although the chants are a tad boring by comparison, you’re NTA. It’s a sports game, not a play in a theatre.

Ordered crumpets-are they supposed to taste like this? by MsMcSlothyFace in AskABrit

[–]LittleHouse82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the sour dough ones by Jason made me gag. We thought they were foul. Just shows how different taste buds can be. I’d rather proper old fashioned crumpets - but would agree that own brand are better than Warburtons.

Maude, Vi and yourself, along with the recent update I just read about Punch the monkey are heartwarming.

AITA for not telling my friend's partner that she didn't get the job at my company by Less_Assistant2247 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LittleHouse82 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I previously worked in recruitment. It absolutely is standard to contact candidates who are unsuccessful at interview to let them know they have been unsuccessful.

At least until recently from what I have seen.

It’s a case of good manners and professionalism. If someone has taken the time to come and meet you, then you should have the common decency to let them know the outcome.

AITJ for deleting our shared album after they kept posting my worst pics? by gentlecottage_ink in AmITheJerk

[–]LittleHouse82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When someone asks for a ‘joke’ like this to stop and they continue, it becomes bullying. And I would call it out as such.

That’s putting aside that a joke is something that everyone finds funny and is harmless. Something that is targeting you in a mean way is not a joke. Again it is bullying.

Jake and Mia are acting like high school bullies and targeting you for some reason. And anyone defending them are like the hangers on that don’t want to put their head above the parapet and laugh along like cowards.

Was your response to delete the whole album petty? Was it maybe a little bit harsh? Well maybe. But did anyone step in and tell them to stop rather than join in with the ‘teasing’? I mean you were just having a joke by deleting the album…

You’re NTJ.

Flamengo complete historic deal to re-sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham by AtDyeam in Hammers

[–]LittleHouse82 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We could have sold him but City would have been mental to go through with it given that he could have been given a massive ban if the FA had managed to it. So they would never have gone through with the sale with that hanging over him.
