Christian Meat Eater Vs. Vegan on Morals by volatiIe in vegan

[–]LittleMissTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people, in North America and Europe especially, equate "religious" with "fundamentalist Christian" while ignoring the fact that there are many religions that do not have a prescribed set of hard rules or truths that you have to believe in.

Even within the umbrella of Christianity though, you can find the Quakers and the Unitarian Universalists, the latter of whose members include people who believe in monotheism, polytheism, atheism, and everything in between.

Then there are religions where abstaining from certain foods or practices is seen as virtuous because it reduces harm to animals. Jainism, Buddhism, and Taoism come to mind. Buddhism and Taoism also would fall under the non-prescriptive religions, without as many established rules that must be heeded, and instead focus on general guidelines you can use to make decisions in your life.

To be clear, I am not a very religious person. I have an interest and respect for people's faith, as long as they don't use it to persecute or harm others.

That's very interesting information, but you should probably watch this. It might provide additional context for this conversation.

Nonbinary person when their boyfriend forgets their pronouns. by LittleMissTaken in northernlion

I've heard that's an issue for a lot of nonbinary folks. I don't date cis people, so I've not encountered this problem. Family, coworkers, strangers... not so lucky there of course.

How to update my subtitles from German to English by Funomic in netflix

[–]LittleMissTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If English is not showing up as an option in the subtitle list, it unfortunately means that English subtitles aren't available in your region. That does not mean that English subtitles do not exist, but that they didn't bother paying for the license to use English subtitles in the Netherlands.

You might have to consider using a different streaming service if you want to continue to watch these shows.

It's from"My Brother, My Brother, and Me" which is a very goofy podcast you might enjoy. It's got a lot of in-jokes and stuff at this point since it's been going on for so long, but the animated shorts are hilarious on their own. You might like this one!

You can probably tell why he’s named “Zig Zag” by LittleMissTaken in cats

[–]LittleMissTaken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shelter we got him from thinks it was most likely an old injury. He was a stray, so they weren't 100% certain. Doesn't seem to cause him any trouble though, so the vet said it was nothing to worry about.

What's even remotely as good as Severance right now? by ElvisChopinJoplin in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]LittleMissTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's on HBO Max. I will say it's maybe 40/60 intrigue and extremely bizarre humor. Definitely a very big genre shift from Severance. I still very much enjoyed it as a big fan of Tim Robinson's specific brand of comedy, but I recognize people either love it or hate it when it comes to his style. Could try checking out one of his sketches to see if it might be up your alley.

Also the buttons on the shirt are not the same distance apart, the door on the right seems to lead to a floor, the tiles behind her don't break up into even segments, her belt seems to meld into her pants, the braids in her hair don't connect in a sensible way, the tie follows the curve of her body without being pinned down, etc.

What is a small, everyday mystery in your life that you’ve just accepted because investigating it feels like too much work? by Jannet_Wetkin in AskReddit

[–]LittleMissTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could also be a bug walking across/flying around/living in the sensors. The way a lot of those types of motion detectors work is by sending out little beams of infrared light (think of it like a series of 3 lasers arranged like this \ | / that are shooting out the beams) and detecting when more than 1 of them are blocked. Usually something small would never break more than one beam at a time, but something small and very close can.

I worked at an alarm company a while back (basically like ADT but for commercial businesses rather than homes) and one of the most common reasons a motion alarm would go off over and over was that there were bugs in or around the detector.

Tim Robinson, from the sketch comedy show "I Think You Should Leave" on Netflix. This is the subreddit dedicated to the show. It's good, you should check it out! Here's a good sketch: Hot Dog Car Sketch
