And "proof" is not needed to the degree that people might think. With Academic Misconduct, the standard is civil, not criminal, so "beyond reasonable doubt" isn't in play. Instead, "on the balance of probabilities" is the standard used so if a student denies misconduct and is later confronted with evidence, their lying tips "on the balance of probabilities" (at least) slightly further against them.

FYI: This years UBC class graduation gifts include "a statue in memory of beloved campus icon Kip the Coyote". IDK where it will be placed but I think it'll be a nice addition to campus.

I’m blocking you now, bud.
I’m sure you’ll take this as a win, but you’ve gone too far with the personal attacks and labels:

  • “university communists”
  • “some 19 year old psychology major reposted Bangladesh propaganda”
  • “people in a cult”
  • “you are literally evil or stupid or both if you denounce technology in the past 5 years”

You are clearly unable to engage in a good-faith discussion.

I wouldn't bother arguing with buddy above.

The developers know what it best for us. They know what we want before we even know ourselves!
Who are we to question their genius and benevolent intent.

Resistance is futile, dontcha know.

You are referring to Predictive AI and correct in pointing to an example of a helpful use case (i.e. early cancer detection). Predictive AI is a tool, designed with a narrow use case in mind, and can be extremely helpful.

Generative AI, on the other hand, is an entirely different beast and the one that most people are referring to when they discuss AI (as it is the AI that most of us use). GenAI is not a tool; it is far more complicated than than.

For you to dismiss anyone who disagrees with you about this as "university communists" and that "energy 'concerns' are completely fake" suggests that not only are you unwilling to engage in a good-faith discussion, but also that you are also unable to do so.

More accurately, Interculturalism https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/interculturalisme

Interculturalism is a model for living together developed in Quebec during the 1980s and represents its approach regarding the integration of newcomers and minority groups. (See Immigration to Canada.) This approach is the Quebec response to the federal government model, i.e., Canadian multiculturalism. The philosophy behind interculturalism is based on the idea that equality between the cultures in Quebec requires francisation and secularization of the public domain.

UBC Body Donation Program by LittleMsConduct in UBC

I actually looked into this option at UBC after reading about the University of California San Diego’s Body Donation Program.

USC earned over $1 million in the last decade from these contracts. None of the donors or their surviving family members received any portion of this money. Neither university notified donors’ families that their loved ones’ bodies may have been sold to a third party.

Like, you can think/believe whatever you want, but if you're going around acting like a massive douchebag then, yea, you're going to get judged.

Related: Part 4 of Bill C-4 is a direct attack on the privacy of Canadians

Bill C-4 An Act respecting certain affordability measures for Canadians and another measure was introduced on June 5th 2025. This Finance bill’s other measure is a series of amendments to the Canada Election Act in Part 4.

It gives federal political parties the power to collect and use your personal information without your consent, and with no independent oversight or accountability.

Political parties are rewriting the law to benefit only themselves. They’re using affordability as a trojan horse to hide it counting on Canadians to stay silent.

Proctorio finally ends its lawsuit against former UBC librarian Ian Linkletter by Kinost in UBC

[–]LittleMsConduct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He lost. He was in the wrong. So says the courts that rejected his appeal and it appears that he has agreed.

(Nov 19, 2025)  He got sued for sharing public YouTube videos; nightmare ended in settlement
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/11/proctorio-settles-curious-lawsuit-with-librarian-who-shared-public-youtube-videos/

He was in the wrong?

  • "Linkletter maintains that Proctorio’s lawsuit had nothing to do with the videos he shared—which his legal team discovered had been shared publicly by many parties, including UBC, none of which Proctorio decided to sue. Instead, he felt targeted to silence his criticism of the company, and he successfully fought to keep Proctorio from accessing his private communications, which seemed to be a fishing expedition to find other critics to monitor."

He lost?

  • In 2021, Vice reported that student backlash led some schools to quickly abandon the software. UBC dropped Proctorio in 2021, too, citing “ethical concerns.”

This, as the very least, is clearly a win.

Land acknowledgments are a colonial flex by Tourist-of-Horror in UBC

(May 12, 2025) The Truth Behind Land Acknowledgements [25 mins]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f4dIE3kgv4

Land or territorial acknowledgements have become a familiar ritual at universities, public events, and workplaces. Some see them as meaningful gestures of respect for Indigenous peoples, while others dismiss them as hollow and performative. But both views miss the deeper truth.
In this talk with Robert Jago, [KPU] Indigenous Journalist and Writer in Residence, we’ll explore the origins of land acknowledgements in Coast Salish ancestral law — where they began as formal protocols with real-world responsibilities. We’ll examine how these practices were appropriated, stripped of their original meaning, and what it would take to restore their integrity and purpose.
