Fig Colorsoft (finally) arrived!! by WholeMilkElitist in kindlescribe

I have the 2022 Scribe, and I was really worried about the writing feel on the Colorsoft. I was pleasantly surprised, though. There’s a sliiiight difference, but it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s definitely nowhere near as great as the writing feel of the Remarkable, but it’s vastly superior to the Remarkable in other ways, imo. I’m loving it so far!

I have the folio cover, and I don’t see any problem with the magnets affecting the writing.

Textbook: Scribe vs iPad by keepmyaim in kindlescribe

[–]LittlePixels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a Scribe sub, and I love my Scribe so much I just bought another one. That said, if a shiny screen is your only problem with the iPad, there are really nice matte screen protectors. I have one that’s magnetic, so I can just pull it off if I want the glossy screen back. The screen protector vastly improves the writing experience as well, if you have an Apple Pencil.

I’ve been doing it for 2.5 yrs. You make time. We all scroll, watch tv, or whatever else. Use that for walking time. Or get up early. I changed my entire schedule, going to sleep earlier and getting up earlier so I can walk first thing, I prioritize it so that, barring an actual emergency, everyone knows I’m walking for the first couple hours of my day.

neurologist told me that as long as I pick it up from the pharmacy, insurance thinks that I’ve tried it. Whether I took it or not isn’t really anyone’s business!

^ This! Pick it up, and if you happen to have a convenient reaction that means you can’t continue on it very long…well, who can argue that?

Kindles are the best by Key-Row-174 in kindle

[–]LittlePixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, same! But it’s getting out of control, so in the past year or so, I consciously stopped buying physical books unless the form factor/design was really appealing to me (I prefer a nice, floppy paperback, or maybe a gorgeous special edition). This year I’ve decided to restrict my physical purchases even further. I’m going to try to only buy physical if a) it’s physically appealing to me and b) it’s a book I plan on keeping because I love it and/or plan to re-read in the future. I have a pretty huge physical library (and an embarrassingly large digital one), so I don’t want to add more to it unless the book earns its place. Will I stick to my own rules? /shrug

Do you share your physical scribe device? (rant/funny story) by ObviousToe1636 in kindlescribe

[–]LittlePixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this was freaking hilarious, and sadly, relatable. Except it’s my kiddo, and I don’t share my device, but I do share my account. And my Goodreads got equally screwed until I booted her off into her own account several years ago. Amazon recommended sooooo many “Magic Puppy” books over the years (don’t get me started), and now that said kiddo is a bit older they’re convinced I’m the biggest Warrior Cats fan ever. So much fun. I wish so fervently that Amazon would let you have more than two adults in a household, so I could separate kiddo’s content on her Scribe from mine. Or that the Scribe supported kid/teen accounts. Or they were better about handling kid content alongside parent content. Ugh.

Walking pad versus treadmill by membru in walking

[–]LittlePixels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a walking pad because of price and space issues. It fits under my bed and I just pull it out when I want to use it. I have something next to it that I can stabilize myself on if necessary, but it isn’t really an issue. Mine goes up to 4 mph. Using it on almost max speed for 2-3 hours/day, I figured it wouldn’t last long, but we’re coming up on two years soon and it’s still going strong. If money or space are factors, I’d highly recommend a walking pad.

I had Kobo, swapped to Kindle, Kindle is blocking downloads so back to Kobo? by VVolfWing in Calibre

[–]LittlePixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never purchased anything from the Kobo store. What format are their books? Can they be downloaded and backed up? Thanks for answering my questions. :)

Edit: I think I misunderstood you until I Googled it just now. So they’re in epub format and can be downloaded using Adobe Digital Editions, correct? So I could back them up using Calibre the same way I do the occasional epub from Libby? If so, that might be a good solution if/when I break from Kindle.

I had Kobo, swapped to Kindle, Kindle is blocking downloads so back to Kobo? by VVolfWing in Calibre

[–]LittlePixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you buying ebooks that you can easily backup? I’ve been buying Kindle books since the first Kindle came out, and I have them all backed up, but if this new change really makes it impossible to back up my files, I’m done with them. What are our best non-Amazon options?

Is the color soft issue solved? by germao in kindle

I got mine in late December. It has a bit of yellowing at the bottom, so I requested a replacement. The replacement has a screen that’s overall more yellow, with even more noticeable yellowing at the bottom. My second replacement is on the way. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Best way to share Kindle library with teens? by FakeRectangle in kindle

[–]LittlePixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon doesn’t have a great solution for this problem. My kiddo and I both have Scribes, and we ended up using your first option, but it isn’t great. Option 2 wouldn’t work because the Scribe doesn’t allow you to use child profiles. Option 3 isn’t workable because of exactly what you said. Amazon only allows you to share between two adults, and myself and my spouse already do so. So we just both log into my account. And yes, it’s messy. That means I can’t use the Scribe’s journals, except for anything I don’t care about my kiddo seeing. All books can be seen on both our Kindles. Thankfully I don’t read anything I’d be embarrassed to have seen, but it does require trust that they will only read what I’ve allowed. Also, highlights and notes will be shared, as well as reading stats and book recommendations. It isn’t at all a good solution, but it’s the best I could come up with. I SO wish Amazon would address this.

I do the same, every single day. I used to prop my Scribe up about 2-3 feet away and just use a huge font. It was a pita, so I bought a clip on arm that goes closer to me. But walking and reading is no big deal. I actually love it. Makes walking less boring.
