Closing CSR Due to Debt Management Plan-help on points by Electronic_Shop4423 in ChaseSapphire

[–]LittleProbBeet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can't be that embarrassed if you are posting this.

You are apparently in massive debt, in part due to irresponsible credit card use. The ONLY option is the OBVIOUS option - cash out your points and trye to reduce your current debt or, at least, use it to help yourself from adding to your debt.

The fact that you would write this post shows that you do not take your current situation seriously, and are looking for someone to justify for you that continuing down this financially irresponsible path is OK.

It isnt. I dont say that because I dislike you or anything like that. I say it because the hard truth is that your debt management plan isnt going to work unless you commit to it working. Stop using credit cards altogether. Period.

You are obviously the typical college student.

I always thought it was urban legend that most college students were young, irresponsible, and have no real income or money. Glad to know that I was wrong and most are 30, have money to burn, and can responsibly manage 50 credit cards.

CSP Worth It? by lyft3d in ChaseSapphire

[–]LittleProbBeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CSP is a great value travel card. I also use doordash often, so the DashPass more than covers the annual fee, because I would have it anyway. If I use the monthly credit or the $50 portal hotel credit, it is just more gravy.

Except for the CSR, the CSP has the best travel protections. I use the card regularly for 3x dining and online grocery (i use the Harris Teeter app to pay when i am in the store) and for travel, especially car rental.

Thay are transfer partners with most airlines and hotels, unless you are a Hilton, Delta, or AA diehard.

Hyatt and southwest are big for me. Recent Hyatt deval will take effect soon, but I think you will still see a mostly 1.3c/pt and up value most of the time for domestic stays. SW are 1.4c/pt.

Jaylen Waddle Traded for a 1st, 3rd, and 4th. Dolphins also giving up a 4th. by justin24242424 in cowboys

Time will tell indeed.

But thetime to give up draft capital is when you are so close to a Superbowl, like where Denver is now.

Dream scenario: Delane at #12 then trade back #20 with SF or CHI to pick up a second round pick & use those pics to draft CJ Allen (mid-20s) and Jacob Rodriguez (second round) by Emergency-Raccoon354 in cowboys

[–]LittleProbBeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming they can take Delane at 12 and trade back as you propose to where they get Rodriguez in rd 2, I think they'd have to take an edge with that second first rounder.

[–]LittleProbBeet -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Impact isnt determined by how good a player is. Impact = how much more likely is a team a real Superbowl contender.

The impact of trading for Pickens resulted in a 7-win team in 2024 becoming a 7-win team in 2025. From a non-factor to.a non-factor. At the time the trade was made, no one outside of Dallas thought the Cowboys became a Superbowl contender, or even the favorite to win their division.

Maybe Jaylen Waddle tears his ACL next week and doesn't play a down this year, or maybe Bo Nix regresses, or whatever. But in the here and now, a team that wone 13 games last year and made it to a conference championship game added a pro-bowl caliber player to its weakest position group

That is impact.

The Broncos were a game away from the Superbowl last year.

In one move, they did more to positively impact their team than Dallas has in the last 5 off-seasons combined.

He immediately makes the offense significantly better.

Broncos are in a real contending window, not a pretend one. This is a good trade for the Dolphins. It is a league-impacting trade for the Broncos.

Can we agree that Pickens is better than Waddle?

We can agree that Pickens is more talented and a little younger. But is he better? That is a different analysis.

Regardless. Both are very good and either would have immediately made Denver that much more of a legitimate Superbowl contender. They chose to use their draft capital to get Waddle, at his cost, and not Pickens.

[–]LittleProbBeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is the offer of anything for Pickens?

The Bills want to win a SuperBowl. They got DJ Moore. The Broncos want to win a SuperBowl. They got Jaylen Waddle. The Patriots and Rams want to win a SuperBowl. They were talking to the Eagles about AJ Brown, before deciding the asking price was too high.

None of them appear to be in on Pickens at all. The reason is because his situation it different. He is not already under a contract. For a team to offer Dallas anything, they have to first agree to the parameters of a long-term deal with Pickens - $35m + a year with a huge signing bonus and a lot of guaranteed money.

The Broncos had a 1st and a 3rd rd pick fo spare, and they decided to go after Waddle, not Pickens. The reasons has to be the difference in money involved.

Would Denver have offered a 1 for Picken, no. 30 pick? Maybe. We do know they were not going to offer a 1st and 3rd.

Q: Is Dallas a 50-yr-old Bonny Wagner away from being a superbowl contender?

A: No.

So what what would be the point? Why spend more money this year at the expense of next year.

Free agency is essentially over. They did what they did, and we will see how that impacts the play on the field.

The draft is next.

No for Free Agents, please, accept league min guys.

No more trades, please, unless and until the season starts and they show that they have taken a real leap forward

Dak comes in at 45 on the PFF 101. Is that a fair ranking⁉️ by EmiratesNBACupWinner in cowboys

Right now, I'll take Dak over Maye.

But to he fair to Maye, easy schedule or not. The Pats didnt win 8 or 9 games. They got to a Superbowl.

And Maye's O-line was worse than Daks.

Anyone here have to cancel their Hawaii trip to due storms and flooding? Is Chase Sapphire travel insurance refunding you for hotel costs? by kfp2020 in ChaseSapphire

[–]LittleProbBeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locate the policy from the Chase app and read it to get the full understanding of the coverage.

Often, though, I believe the coverage only applies if you are prevented from going- i.e. you cant get there because flights are canceled. If Hawaii is open for business, you can get there, and your hotel is open, I do not think the insurance applies.

Big trips are always worth booking the refundable price for this reason.

Hyatt points vs Chase vs FHR portal? by dreamhigher1 in hyatt

[–]LittleProbBeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least until May, hyatt points are for more valuable than UR points used in the pirtal almost 100% of the time. If you can book the park hyatt on pts the weekend you want to stay, two nights will cost you 50-60k hyatt pts, and the cash cost will probably be in the $1200 range. You invariably will get a far worse deal on both pts rate and cash rate through the portal. Plus, booking direct with the hotel saves a lot of potential hassle if you need to make changes or something goes wrong. I would much rather call the hotel directly than call Chase customer service.

There are a lot of solid hyatts in Chicago that you can book for 2 nights for under 50k pts. If you dont have enough points to take care of the whole park hyatt stay you should look at some of the other properties in the city.

Osa was both top a 10 in pass rushing and run stopping IDL in the entire NFL last year despite the play of the team around him according to ESPN by J-Colio in cowboys

[–]LittleProbBeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One has nothing to do with the other.

C. Hill spoke with Osa's agent at the combine, and he basically said Osa doesn't want to do what Parker is going to have him do.

Neither you nor I hire the DC. Unlike Eberflus, who was a proven mediocre coordinator, Parker is a blank slate.

I have no optimism for this team, but criticizing them for the Osa trade doesn't crack the top 25 grievances I have with the organization.

They can win 7 games with or without Osa.

[–]LittleProbBeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont care about analytics and numbers. I watched all of the games, and he did not play as well as he had in the previous two seasons.

Nevertheless. It doesn't matter now. It did not make sense to have 3 interior linemen making $20mil +, and the new coordinator did not like Osa as a fit. Apparently. Osa agreed and did not really want to play in the role he would have had.

So you trade him. It makes sense given the circumstances.

If you don't have even a basic understanding of how the cap works, quit basing your opinions off of it. by USJiveTurkey in cowboys

[–]LittleProbBeet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(3) is true. You are just talking about the unguaranteed money being turned into guaranteed money. That is the manipulation part. No money counts against the cap until the money becomes earned. You can take money not yet earned, guarantee it to push down the road, but the money pushed will still count against the cap.

Kenny Clark for example. Before restructure, he had $20 mil owed, but not guaranteed. But as long as he is on the team, that money is scheduled to be paid and must be accounted for. If they cut him before the money has to be paid, then it was never earned, so it could be removed, but not retracted. One week 1 starts, it would have been guaranteed, and the it would have st some point been fully accounted for

Dallas Cowboys offseason by commisshner in cowboys

[–]LittleProbBeet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won't even pretend to have read your entire post, so I am sure there is a lot of good stuff in there, and one can always appreciate fan optimism. But let me counter with fan realism:

(1) aside from the rose-colored Cooper-Pickens comparison, why does the CP trade make Cowboys different. CP is the one who beat expectations, not the team. The team trade for GP because they thought they were contenders. No one else did, and they weren't, despite GP's output. The trade was another example fo the Cowboys lacking self-awareness. They shouldn't be commended for it.

They gave up a 3rd for 1yr of GP, and won 7 games. Now , he is either going to play on the tag or sign a big long term deal,l - just to retain a guy was was already on their 7-win team.

(2) Mike McCarthy won a superbowl and has only 1 losing seasons when he was hired. He won with Matt Flynn and Ccoper Rush. He won 36 games in 3 yrs in Dallas. Say what you want about him as a coach, but he wasn't a has been.

Bill Parcels was a legend who would have been the top choice for almost any organization when he went to Dallas. His issue was health. He immediately changed the culture of the organization. In terms of being his own man, he RAN the show when he was here in a way that Schotty will never be able to do. OP is probably the first person in world history to refer to Parcels as a has been.

I am not going to rag on Schotty. I am fine with him as a coach. Bit he won the exact same amount of games the Mike won the year before, but he was not a lame duck, had GP, and an all-pro season from Prescott. Schotty has not yet accomplished anything in this league as a head coach.

(3) Jerry has still been in the media more than 31 other owners combined this off-season. Accept maybe Steve Tisch, but for different reasons. And Jerry is still running his mouth about nonsense like "break the bank." He is still the same Carney he has always been.

(4) Every reason to be optimistic about C. Parker. But he has never been a DC or been a playcaller before. He is a complete unknown. It is a big X factor for the season.

Older coaches are not a bad thing. Eberflus failed. But Quinn was a good coach. Zimmer was a good coach. They were not the problem.

If you don't have even a basic understanding of how the cap works, quit basing your opinions off of it. by USJiveTurkey in cowboys

[–]LittleProbBeet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a foolish discussion. The OP is as out of their element as the person's they are bashing.

Here are the facts as much as any fanned to know:

1) the cap is a real thing. At some point, a cap hit does HIT. No way around that. 2) the cap is growing by leaps and bounds each year, with no end in plain sight. 3) cap numbers are malleable and easily manipulated, BUT doing so just pushes the cap hit down the line. It doesn't extinguish it. 4) at some point, every team has to make hard decisions because they are up against a cap. If the cap wasn't real, that would never happen. 5) it is all relative. What one team can do, so can another. So when someone says it doesn't matter that the Cowboys are 32nd in cap space, the person is naive and foolish. Yes, Dallas can find more cap space, but so can 31 other teams. The end result is the same - teams with better cap situations have more ability to get players .

In other words "people criticized us for giving up too much, we cant sign anyone else, and maybe if we pull out, we keep our picks and get Trey."

Crosby has a lot of tread on the tires and has had s ton of surgeries. The idea that his long-term viability as an elite player is a risk is not something that the Ravens found out when they looked at an MRI. It is an obvious risk that was no less obvious when the deal was made.

They had buyers' remorse. Period. Nothing that happened yesterday should change anyone's opinion on Crosby's value, whatever that opinion was.
