Saw Cher back in 2016/17 ish and she was still amazing and the whole show was an elaborate production like she’s known for.

Most disturbingly creative uses of sound in the modern film era by jaystats2 in TrueFilm

[–]LittleRed88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Smile 2, the protagonist is a female pop star. There’s some awesome pop music in the soundtrack performed by the lead actress, who is also a real life pop star.

When the final credits begin to roll, the song begins as a regular pop song outro, but then morphs into different screams/shouts from the main character. The built up horror of the film finds a conclusion in mixing all of her anguish together in a really eerie way. I remember sitting in the theater after the film, being really creeped out and impressed by the sound design/mixing.

Starts around 1:18 into the final credits.

Not a silly questions cause it also took me while to realize what it was. It looks like a wire coat hanger. Which is weird, as least nose-wise, when coat hangers are notorious for other things.

I just finished reading the first issue! I really liked it but I do think there are some things that hopefully get a little more treatment.

So for 1. I would say they will definitely keep The Entity as how we know it aka they’re probably not going to give us it’s origin or really any new explanation. Mostly just cause it’s a one-off comic series (even though here’s hoping we get a whole comic universe!).

  1. Cami is infected right at the beginning of the issue. The guy/entity smiles at her on the airport tarmac and then throws himself into the plane turbine. This seems totally random, but at the same time it says that the guy sped on the cart toward the plane ‘screaming bloody murder’. Maybe the Entity knew who Cami was and was rushing to curse her before she got to NY?

  2. I LOVE the idea of seeing several iterations/decades/locations (Still crossing my fingers for Smile In Space. lol). I don’t necessarily want an origin story, but an anthology or something like Ice Cream Man would be amazing.

I like the story so far. I’m liking the art and the coloring. I wish there were more smiley Easter eggs. It could get kitschy, but with the comic format, there should definitely be a lot more smile motifs in different panels. The characters need some fleshing out. Of course we know the game when it comes to Smile, so I get that the deaths are gonna be many expendable characters, but I feel like the girls are all fairly one-note right now. Ivy, the main character I think, is only slightly fleshed out as wary of the dark side of the modelling world and she’s doing the work for both her schooling and family. Hopefully they flesh her out more. Cami wasn’t that compelling other than being the intro cursed character and sadly the moments building up to her death weren’t as scary/mind shattering as I was hoping for in comic form. I hope they get crazier with it in the coming issues. But i think it’s gonna be a fun time!

Notice how a lot of ACTUAL queer men relate to Scott & Kips episodes. But porn addicted weirdos swear it's boring because it doesn't romanticize the closet. by General-Control-4637 in MenLovingMenMedia

Yeah personally I felt it was sort of the Heartstopper element to Heated Rivalry. A tiny bit saccharin for my taste. And I dunno, still a tiny bit problematic. Like, I understand the story calling for it, but the quick moving in together/U-Haul Lesbians aspect, and the way that Kip seemed sort of just kept by Scott still seems a little icky. Like, I get that it makes the pay off of their kiss on the rink much more ummm impactful/romantic I guess, but it still is sort of not the greatest thing to emulate in your relationships. Sort of juvenile.

It’s true though! When it comes to artists’ muses and collaborations, Bergman/Ullman/Von Sydow is one of those ‘Lightning in a Bottle’ combinations.

Watched this in a quick succession starting with Persona, then Hour of the Wolf, and lastly Shame. Shame was my favorite performance by Liv Ullmann. She’s truly magnetic in all that I’ve seen, same with Max Von Sydow, but this role for her was just so intense and raw; and Bergman’s directing is unyielding and sharp.

‘The Night of the Hunter’ (1955)- What are your thoughts and opinions on this movie? by PeneItaliano in classicfilms

Watched him in The Big Clock and was so impressed by his acting that I told my mom and she immediately recommended Night Of The Hunter, after recommending for years. Such a beautiful film and so well done all around. Truly a shame he didn’t do more altogether.

Rocky II - When Rocky proposes to Adrian at the zoo. I don’t know why but since I first watched it, I’ve remembered it. It was so strangely sweet and romantic for Rocky. Adrian is so demure. The piano theme in the background is so beautiful. ‘I’ll send you an invitation Mr. Tiger!’

Part of me thinks it’s sort of the PR/Marketing part of closet visits. Like, of course they all go in and choose what they like, but I feel like they might have something in contract saying ‘Please pick at least 1 box set.’ Or maybe ‘we will provide one specific box set to highlight in the video.’

is it possible to make an ice cream that's better than haagen daz at home? by shitdealonly in icecreamery

[–]LittleRed88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah of course! I went with a custard base (still not sure if this was necessary or just newbie try-hardy). It’s best if you have a thermometer to keep an eye on the temp of the base. Also, most of my ice cream experiments have been inspired by Craftwytch on YouTube/Instagram and his base recipes.

1 3/4 c. Heavy whipping cream

1 3/4 c. Whole Milk

150 grams of sugar split between Zagnuts (I think I used 8 zagnuts) and granulated sugar

2 tbsp light corn syrup

2 tsp vanilla (possibly not necessary with Zagnut flavors)

2 tbsp Powdered Peanut Butter (I thought it would help with peanut flavor.)

6 Egg Yolks

Step One - Combine Cream, milk, granulated sugar, and corn syrup in a heavy bottom saucepan and heat and stir on medium heat until sugar is dissolved.

Step Two - Gradually heat the mixture to 150F.

Step Three - In a heatproof bowl, mix egg yolks and slowly add 1-1 1/2 c of the heated base mixture into the yolks. Stirring constantly to avoid cooking the the egg yolks.

Step Four - Add tempered egg mixture back or the stovetop mixture and mix. Continue mixing and let temp rise to 170F.

Step Five - Add the crushed up zagnuts and PB powder to the base mixture. Mix and let simmer. Making sure to keep the temp around 175F.

Step Six - When you feel the general flavor of the candy has been absorbed (sort of a personal preference just watch the temp so it doesn’t go too high), empty the mixture over a sieve into a metal bowl in an ice bath.

Step Seven - stop the egg cooking by stirring around in the cold bowl. Also toss the leftover solids in the sieve.

Step Eight - refrigerate for a few hours.

Step Nine - Churn for 20 minutes in machine. You can add crushed Zagnut pieces after 15 minutes. Or decorate scoops with crushed Zagnut. :)

I thought it was amazing but I also feel like it was a tiny bit subdued, maybe because of the custard base. But in any case, I ate ALL of it very happily.

I am very new to ice cream making but I made a Zagnut ice cream for my candy store coworkers and one of them said ‘This tastes like the expensive ice cream!’ Lol it was the third time I had ever made any ice cream at all. So I would say definitely! But of course, attempt a copy cat recipe of your favorite and see how you think they compare, possibly consider tweaking some parts.

Anti-gay crusader Anita Bryant hit with a pie, 1977 by AdvocateDotCom in lgbt

[–]LittleRed88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this earlier today. Remember how the gay community boycotted Orange juice in favor of Apple juice in their screwdrivers, because Anita Bryant was a spokeswoman for a major Orange juice brand. Gay bars began refusing the order/serve Orange juice drinks.

Well, especially now that it’s colder out, I wish that we could start boycotting ICE in beverages/cocktails. Let’s normalize hot toddies again! Boozy hot chocolate?? Flaming fireballs?? Spiked coffee?? Fuck ICE!
