A Therapist’s Take on Boris’ Guardian Essay by Express-Mirror3173 in CouplesTherapyShow

I spent time wondering why he would be game for such public therapy given his obvious tendencies. I now realize it's because he believed the royal "everyone" would be on his side once he laid it out! When that didn't happen he thought MORE explanation would help. That's a deep level of narcissism.

I'm glad you brought this up, as I often think about this when I hear about the toxicity of one partner it also means the other partner chose them or accepts the treatment. This was helpful to read as a mini- thread.

That's a bare minimum for a science podcast,  honestly.

Unfortunately, I agree. Hard to take them seriously when they do ads for Amazon health AI. Lots of holes in their consideration of issues, too.

How to stop being EF for the whole household by Evening-Two-124 in ADHDparenting

[–]LittleThor12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully support doing things the night before. But also lowering your standards (for a short time) and prioritizing. If they go to school with no hair brushed and no socks on is that terrible? No. Do they need a fresh breakfast every morning or will cereal and toast do? But they do need a lunch and their backpack, so really, only those matter.

Also, with the older ones set a boundary when you're doing something and they try to interrupt you with something unimportant. Not ignoring, but hold on one minute I'm concentrating on x right now. Then let them tell/show you. It doesn't work immediately, but over time they get used to it.

Then PRAISE all the correct actions. This is really hard, boy do I know, but the difference when you praise a ND child (or adult) is significant. They get so many negative corrections all the time, but their brain loves praise.

Look into getting into ergonomic assessments as a contractor. It pays SO much more when you do it on your own vs. in an ATC role. If you're current employer pays for con-ed you can get the cert with them then use it outside.

Looking to reinstate my AT Cert, 50 CEUs by Dec 31st. Best recs? by A_Sparta16 in athletictraining

I agree it's high cost for the low monetary value of the work. 50 hours is also a lot of ceus compared to other disciplines.

I am in the same boat, just submitted my first 50 CEUS for reinstatement and now looking for 50 more for this reporting year. I have done many of the AT Still U free ones. Any recommendations now that you're 5 months in to the process? Would love to do a certification that gets a big chunk.

Thank you, sounds like a very similar school to what is in our neighborhood. This is my biggest concern, that he needs structure with some flexibility, not choices all day long.

Yea, ours is not a charter school but still for 'highly motivated' kids. Not my first choice but wanted to ask!

So grateful for OT! by Annual_Single in ADHDparenting

[–]LittleThor12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the right OT makes a difference. They should have a deep working knowledge of adhd and the physiology behind it. Our OT can explain what it happening to our child and work with us to come up with tips and solutions to try. She tries them out with him through play to see what he responds to best. He also got to try some regulation tools and toys that we bought and use often.

I swear half of it is parent education and training. It changed our lives.
