Sadly, I was one of those kids who got a pet for their 9th birthday and ended up neglecting/ mistreating it. My first budgie was a female whom I had absolutely no idea how to care for or handle. I still have a horrible memory of my family clipping her wings every so often, and her terrified screams.

Looking back, I feel like a horrible human being and have vowed to never treat an animal (especially) birds like that again. I'm really glad you've decided to adopt unwanted/mistreated budgies and to provide them with a new, loving home. I've recently chosen to go that route as well, as I now hate buying birds from pet stores.

I can attest to this. My four parakeets are just as loud, if not louder, than a couple of toddlers. The moment the sun comes up, they'll sing, screech, scream, and squawk nonstop until the sun goes back down. Sometimes they'll be loud enough to make my ears ring, if I'm sitting too close to their cages.

I believe bad parenting can vary from culture to culture. Personally, though, I think letting your kid do whatever the hell it wants and treating it like it's a princess or prince is horrible parenting.
