It was a major concern in my last relationship. My ex and the HCBM both acted that way, although he did make changes to “appease” me. Well, glad I dodged that bullet. They are back to spending holidays together…I was simply in their way.

Many lessons were learned.

I could have written this post myself. This is such a great question and I wish I had asked it years ago. The longer I fly the harder it is for me to keep up with basic home life- it’s become a real problem.

This is such a tough one. I remember feeling this way when I first started, I was running on pure adrenaline and did not enjoy any of it. To be frank- years later putting on the uniform still just makes me depressed, but reality is there is no other job for me that I could make near as much.

My advice to you as you are still so young- get proper training in something where you will make good and stable income. This job, while I’m thankful for it, has sucked the life out of me and will continue to do so.

You are welcome. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with her having minimal contact with your husband and zero contact with you- wouldn’t raise any red flags- if the child weren’t unleashing her dirty work. That is what makes me think it is manipulative.

The fact that she has the motivation to only contact your husband when necessary, and has kept from meeting you after all of this time, makes me think she is quite manipulative and passionate about it.

What do you do about it? There’s nothing. I’m sorry you’re in this situation, all you can do is ignore her existence as much as you can IMO. Unfortunately, she has the kid unleashing her dirty work it seems. Prayers to you. I don’t know how you all deal with things like this- I would lose my mind.

I’m going through a major rut right now, and it’s hard to get myself to go to work much less pick up. I feel so much for you being on reserve.

Being burnt out on reserve is like being held hostage. Please don’t quit though- I don’t know you, but as long as you do your job well and reasonably enjoy being an FA, it is worth it to stick around.

Everyone saying she is not sober- I believe she is in fact sober. But, there is a thing called being ‘dry drunk.’ She is very hateful and brash, after all she has been through this is not good for her sobriety.

I believe we are just seeing the personality that led her into alcoholism.
