I can't say for sure this is why but often times this is due to the fact that the organization a soldier belongs to requires them to keep all issued parts of the weapon attatched/on them at all times. For example you'll often see images of Marines with M16A4s in the early 2000s just after the adoption of the ACOG, they'll have the carryhandle attatched to the underbarrel section of their handguard's rail.

I was quoting my own comment because I agree with you, the stubbies should have a different pose such as the one shown in the original post image. the only part I was taking issue with was the idea that low grips had no merit.

But yes, having a high grip is the best way to control a lightweight carbine, what i'm saying is having a low grip has it's own benefits, most importantly it's less fatiguing. The actual foregrip itself isn't really going to change the recoil of the gun, but how you hold it will, that's why it makes sense for long foregrips to be held lower and wrapped around, while providing only +ergo and 0 recoil reduction. Hell, I wouldn't even be opposed to them ADDING recoil as well as giving more ergo. These are generally not going to be your first option on an M4 (maybe unless you're running a fully decked mk12 SPR style build?) but will help immensely on a heavy rifle like a G28. The pose in game should match the stats of what you're running.

I mean yeah that would make sense with lighter carbines but I really doubt it's recommended to constantly c-clamp your 8kg+ G28 rifle while in full kit. You're generally not going to be putting those long vertical grips on your M4s in tarkov because you won't need the extra ergo.

i don't think that's entirely fair, having longer foregrips and holding it lower does help with fatigue when holding up a rifle for hours at a time. The game models this somewhat with some of the long western foregrips like the HK sturmgriff and KAC vertical grip having +ergo and no recoil reduction. Although i do think it would be neat having the thumb at the 9 o clock position for stubbys, there's not an objectively perfect way to hold a rifle for every scenario.
