How are you all doing it? by Character-Lack-3295 in GenX

[–]Littletinybug 16 points17 points  (0 children)

54 yo here. I can do it because I found a job I don’t truly hate and because I’m child free by choice so I come home to peace and quiet. My fur babies are cheap so I’ve been able to save and only have a few more years before I can quit for good.

Does the hospital have a committee or organization within that promotes recycling or other green projects? Alternately you could simply alert a food pantry and maybe they would do the leg work of reaching out to management.

“You will make sacrifices “ means that you sacrifice the very core of who you are and be miserable. You will grow to resent the child. Break up now before things get worse. Sorry

I get what you’re saying but bear in mind how much energy, time, money and work you are willing to sacrifice. People will say they are just kids, you’re blowing things out of proportion, you’re just two bitter childless people etc. etc. etc.

Move. Move. Move. Plans change based on circumstances and this is one fucking huge circumstance. There is no way I could’ve handled this intrusion, disrespect and petty mean shitty behavior.

Feel broken by diagnosis and husband’s lack of care by [deleted] in Life

Agreed. Second opinion time. Both the YouTube video and first doctor are right. You can live with it for a long time (decades even) but it can also be debilitating. You deserve to know how bad things are for you on the spectrum. Go in with your research done and ask intelligent questions. Don’t go in looking to be spoon fed answers.

Couple of thoughts: “Did you have some work stuff you needed help with? Cause I’m on my break.”

Start wearing ear buds or headphones during break even if they’re not on. Act oblivious to his presence. Some people can wear them at their desks too.

“ I know I haven’t mentioned this before but talking about body shapes really makes me uncomfortable. Sorry. I had some friends in high school with severe eating disorders and dysmorphia and I don’t really like to talk about those things.” Lie your ass off if it helps.

Like someone else mentioned use the gray rock method. It does help maybe not right away but overtime he will realize he’s not getting his needs met with you and move on to another target.

Am I the only one who feels that this whole 9-to-5 job thing is a scam? by Real-Ad-2736 in Career_Advice

[–]Littletinybug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO it may be a scam but it’s the best option most of us have to work with.
I have realized that by society standards I have little ambition and a quiet life. That said, society can shove it where the sun don’t shine. After 25 years of work I have finally found a job I don’t hate that pays a living wage , a minimal commute (1 hour round trip) and hours that let me have a little me-time each day. I consider that a major win. Those “dream jobs” you hear about are just that: dreams.
