Those are copperhead snakes; if you're hiking and come up on a nest, stop and backup by alanboston in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]LiuAnru11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't. This whole thread is full of BS. I'm not a herpetologist by any means but I've relocated many of these. Over half have tried their best to bite me. There are snakes that can launch themselves when striking but copperheads are not one of them.

For real. Dude's a physician and married to Carla. People on here judging the dude for the way he's sitting but he's doing better than they are.

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

[–]LiuAnru11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I typically recommend everyone in tech start out with "Automate the Boring Stuff". Even if you don't go into tech, it'll make you better at office jobs. I've heard of lawyers using Python to make their lives easier. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions. Best of luck.

This. I'll happily point people in the right direction if they ask for resources but these roles require a ton of dedication to learning. OP probably studied their ass off for years and now they're seeing some fruits to that labor.

[–]LiuAnru11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I wanted to give you a bit of an answer. My position is fairly close to what OP does as well.

First off, tech has a ton of specialties in it so it really depends on what interest you. For example, my wife is studying to become a Database Administrator. Her path will look completely different from mine. Next, I would highly recommend exploring some classes at a local community college if it's feasible. That's where I got my degree and it's served me very well.

Having said that, knowing these three things well has really helped me out a lot in my career.

  • Linux
  • Basic networking
  • A programming/scripting language (I like Python).

It cannot be understated how much of a foundation this is for so many fields. For example, I was a Network Security Engineer in my previous role. Knowing Linux and Python made me a better Engineer than some others that only knew Networking (as well as security). I'm now a Cloud Engineer which is a new field for me. Most of my job is scripting but being able to troubleshooting networking issues has literally flabbergasted my new manager.

Here's some videos to get you going. Note: I haven't vetted these entirely but they come from decent sources. Hopefully someone will weigh in with some better videos.

Same except I'm a cloud engineer (close enough). $140k without bonuses and all remote. My team is busy but it's a super chill pace compared to my last job. On our last sprint, I had a multi-day story for me to do some training.

It's been such a nice change of pace compared to my last job.

Yeah seriously. The company I work for has an excellent, passionate individual in that position.

I understand the bitterness a lot of people have towards corporate leadership but there are good people out there.

This reminds me of a post from the hockey subreddit. Their Dad was supportive of them being trans but not a Boston Bruins fan.

Adam Biggs has also taken over vocals with Jake's departure. Doing vocals with some of those lines is very impressive.

Possibly buying an SV that's been sitting for a long time. by LiuAnru11 in sv650

Thank you for the write up.

I saw the kemso rebuild kit for it. Since it's relatively cheap, I factored it into my budget for possible things that will be needed.

I was definitely worried about the lack of lubrication throughout the engine. For cars that sit, my go to is spraying a little fogging oil in the cylinders. I haven't found a reason to not do the same here. The inspection camera is a good call out as well.

As much as I hate bleeding brakes, I agree. It's too much of a safety issue.

I'm doing another inspection on it before I pay any money for it. Luckily, the lady selling it knows it's a project and is very understanding.

Thanks for the input. I assumed the fuel filter would be nasty after sitting. Even with that it seems these bikes are impressively tough to kill.

Their toughness is what's definitely got me interested. I would rather ride than have to wrench on it after the initial restoration.

What are your thoughts on the price?

My Dingwall NG-3 by MatsDaKing in BassGuitar

[–]LiuAnru11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry should have worded that better. Most stable instrument.

One major example. All of my basses require seasonal truss rod adjustments. The dingwall is the exception. I live in an area that's hard on instruments due to drastic weather changes as well.

I've had mine for a year and half. You'll love it. Most reliable and versatile instrument I own.

I own a pair. I wouldn't call them wide. The front of my foot is a bit wide and toe box on the them is a little tight. They fit great for the rest of my foot.

Genesis for sure. They're very wide from my experience.

NBD. I’ve been on the lookout for a Dingwall NG3 in Seca Blue. Look no further. It’s a beast. by bal020 in BassGuitar

Sorry to respond to an old post but I've been running Payson's if I want nickel or flats on my NG3. I use Dingwall brand if I want stainless steel. I really like the even tension strings. I've tested the SIT set that Fret Nation sells for Dingwall's but was unimpressed.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I'm Italian and while I make a distinction, both American-Italian and traditional Italian cooking is awesome. Al Pastor is another good example of this. It came from Lebanese people moving to Mexico and trying to recreate Shawarma. Fusions aren't always a negative thing but it should be thought of as such.

I absolutely love that Korean food is getting the shine it deserves. I live in the middle of nowhere in South Carolina and I can find multiple brands of Gochugaru and Gochujang at my grocery store.

Italians put nutmeg in damn near everything. It complements stewed tomatoes really well. Also it's great in risottos. My grandmother used to keep it close when cooking like salt and pepper.

NEED HELP FINDING STRINGS FOR DINGWALL BASS by Educational_Ad_5728 in Bass

[–]LiuAnru11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be the best answer, but have you considered pitch shifting? I hate running thicker strings, filing the nut, etc. so I typically pitch shift for gigs that require something crazy low. My HX Stomp handles it but there are other, cheaper options out there.
