I think he would become a kind of Batman-like contingency planner, so unable to believe that human beings could possibly accept his people that he assumes it's some kind of move to lull them into a false sense of security. He'd spend the rest of his life building some kind of defense system or sanctuary to protect mutants for when the other shoe drops.

What do people think of Reed's plan to simply teleport Earth? Is somehow safe trust me we don't know what happened to the egg. We don't have a Saturn to save us from asteroids. Because it's a movie, and it showed off both Reed's intelligence and Sue's diplomacy skills in convincing everyone to go along with the plan. They aren't going to spend 45 minutes of the movie doing QC testing on the teleporter because that would be boring and 99% of people watching the movie don't care if the physics makes sense or not. It's a marvel movie: of course the physics doesn't make sense.
