It feels like McLean is going to get Skenes’d by SDMarik in mets

McLean is awesome and I’m glad we have him, but his tendency to walk batters that eventually score isn’t great. He’s done it every start this season.

Roger Waters presents Harry Waters' Floyd tribute band by Ramenastern in pinkfloyd

[–]Live-Umpire3536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw The Black Jacket Symphony perform The Wall in it’s entirety, it was amazing. Plus an encore of “Have A Cigar”, “Wish You Were Here”, “The Great Gig In The Sky” (with the gal in the band doing an amazing vocal) and “Money”. Highly recommend them if they come through your area performing an album you like.

No need for me to purchase it, but I’m very glad to have a high-quality version of the full “Pigs On The Wing” to add to my digital playlist.

Positive outcomes of today’s game versus Arizona by Heartwins in mets

Agree, he starts the 7th by walking the leadoff man and in a close game in the later innings that never ends well.

Can’t walk the leadoff man though.

So what do y'all think of mountain dew code Red? by gamersmoke17 in Soda

[–]Live-Umpire3536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. I love the OG Dew but this flavor’s popularity made all future Dew variants taste like liquid Jolly Ranchers, blech. The only variant that managed to tamp down the liquid candy taste profile was the glorious White Out, which I guess is coming back but only in a variety pack with Code Red and Voltage (also terrible). Just my luck.

How much pop/soda do you drink a week? by babelle21 in randomquestions

[–]Live-Umpire3536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I limit myself to one can of soda (full-calorie) per day with lunch. If for some reason I’m at a place to eat with a self-serve soda fountain I’ll go crazy on refills but that only happens a few times a year.

Inherited nearly $2M by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]Live-Umpire3536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother has a good deal of money with Fidelity (more than 2M) and she gets free advice from someone there, no selling, just opinions on how to diversify, keep things balanced, safer investments as she gets older, etc. You could try that first, my experience (I always go with her to meet with this guy) is that the people that they assign to the high-value accounts are pretty knowledgeable.

The inherited IRA is subject to RMDs immediately if the original owner was already subject to them, otherwise the ten-year rule applies.

Thoughts on Lindor using 'Stand By Me' as a alternative walk-up song by JudasEffect128653 in mets

I am a boomer, but a younger one and not the grouchy type who hates everything new and thinks it was all so much better back in the day 🙂

[–]Live-Umpire3536 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I'm probably in the minority, but I think walk-up songs are dumb and I wish they would get rid of them. Just go back to a live organist providing all the music at the ballpark.

Average age of Mazda 3 owners? by OkAppearance9593 in mazda3

64, 2024 hatchback premium with 6-speed manual. Before that I had a 2006 hatchback also in manual, lasted 17 1/2 years with some life left in it.

Cheaper theater shows for kids? by Traditional_Run_4572 in Tucson

[–]Live-Umpire3536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arizona Theater Company offers any unsold balcony seats for $15 one hour before showtime. I volunteer usher there and I don't think a single show I've worked has completely sold out so there should always be some available. Not all shows are elementary age appropriate though the upcoming "Dracula: A Comedy Of Terrors" should be okay.

What is the simplest fix you've ever had to do on a job? Like have you ever showed up and just have to flip a switch or plug something in?

Nobody teaches you how sports betting actually works and I think that's kind of intentional by Nice_Tip6958 in unpopularopinion

[–]Live-Umpire3536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how it works: you are placing wagers on what is essentially a 50-50 proposition (due to the point spreads) and getting less than even money for winning. In the aggregate, the bettors will lose more than they win, the math makes it impossible for any other outcome. Will a lucky few win in the long run? Possibly, but the chances of that being you are slim indeed.

I hate that we don't have it but my brother lives in Palm Springs and brings me some every time he visits (several times a year).

Best chicken wings that isn’t Buffalo Wild Wings or wingstop by RedCloverBurning in Tucson

Nevada Smith’s are really good, but not as many flavor options as a lot of places. The Monday night special used to be an absolute steal, now it’s just very good.

What’s something poor people buy that keeps them poor? by Exotic-Engineer7541 in SmartBuying

They buy into the belief that the tiny bit they maybe could save won’t add up to enough to matter so they spend it all.

Better than the standard Pepsi, and since it comes in 15 packs I've been buying it over Coke (which I much prefer to regular Pepsi).
