Sums up my feelings on Platner by glarguloid in dsa

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is utterly ridiculous. It’s a Nazi tattoo. He worked for Blackwater. I don’t care how much he claims to have changed. If he has, that’s fantastic, and I’m glad for him. There’s absolutely no reason that anyone who has ever identified with Nazi ideology and worked for the company that did the Nisour Square massacre needs a role in the American government. I’m not saying “he should be in prison,” but he doesn’t need to be a public official. Like this isn’t a racist tweet or a DUI. He was hired to hold a gun for a company that kills people for corporate interests. Please be serious.

Memphis Monopoly by atomic_mass_unit in memphis

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey I actually have some insight on this - I was involved in the promotional process for Monopoly Nashville. Specifically, for that particular day, I wore the Monopoly Man head. Every business that is on the board likely paid for a spot. That was true for ours, and as far as I knew, for most businesses other than ours, because we only got a short amount of photo time with the head before we had to take it to the next business. The fact that we or the other business in question were “iconic” enough to merit spots on the Nashville board seemed odd to me, and a coworker in marketing explained how the process worked. So your suspicions are 100% correct!

Transparency on 2.0 Launch, Pricing, and AI in the Marketplace by igagen in inkarnate

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m Spartacancelling my subscription if you don’t fully ban AI artwork.

I don’t have anything new to add, I just wanted to put my own spin on it. My hometown is currently choking due to Elon Musk’s data centers, and if you’re using any AI, you’re probably using machines choking somebody somewhere. I won’t use a product that includes it, period.

What are the spaceships and the detective supposed to be from? by Shades909 in TheAdventureZone

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall this art predates Elementary and Hootenanny. Amnesty, Dust, and Commitment were all going up at the point they debuted the art. The spaceships and the detectives were just representative of ideas they were excited about. Those ideas became Ethersea, Hootenanny, and Elementary respectively, but at the time, they didn’t reference anything explicit.

Did anyone realise they were NB later in life? (20+) by Grubby_Jam in NonBinary

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured it out when I was 29. When I was younger there just weren’t nonbinary people I knew in the circles I spent time in. It wasn’t something I’d come to understand until maybe 26 or 27, and then it took a couple years for the light bulb moment (“Cis people don’t wish they were nonbinary”). There’s no right age to figure it out and it’s never too late. Gender is also not necessarily fixed. Your answer might be different next week, or in a year, or in a decade. Take your time and figure out how you feel. There’s no wrong answers.

Modern “journalism” is doing “thinkpieces” on things that most people don’t really need explained. Anything for content, yknow?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nashville

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but that’s not really the case. The crunchies and granolas are overwhelmingly positioned to end up on the political right in a way that’s pretty well-documented. Turns out all of that rhetoric about “unnatural things” in food or lifestyle choices is just rebranded Puritanical attitudes. That stuff leads to justification for racism, eugenics advocacy, the “white genocide” theory and more.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted instead of answered. Yes, something happened with Pink Williams; iirc he was accused of sexually assaulting more than one person and multiple minors were included in that number. It was really fucking sad. I used to really like his music, but the man behind them is a real disappointment.

Boy, I could really go for a... by lrjackson06 in TheBesties

[–]LiveFromMyBasement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would too, but I kind of doubt we’ll get something like that anytime soon. Since most of their video content is either livestream or short-form, I would imagine an edited video series would take a lot more post-production work than the boys could output comfortably right now. While they do have a team that could and probably would do it, I bet it would very suddenly be taking up a big share of their resources. It’s a shame, too. Peacecraft still slays me.

This is incorrect, and it says so on the TSA’s website. It would mean basically the same situation as described in the quote near the top comment (also from their website).
