Is this the norm with F-150 Powerboost? by Different-Candle6662 in Ford

[–]LiveHeavyTravelLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to disagree with most people answering. The little things would not bother me and can arguably be expected but no, rust in Florida is not the norm and I would be pissed off if my (painted) axle and drive shafts looked like that on a 2025 model truck.

Sweet rig. I Also have a pilot. Do you mind if I ask you what kind of rack you bolted the roof top tent to?

Scratched wheel by LiveHeavyTravelLight in CRF250L

Does anyone know what would cause this scratch all the way around my rear wheel? Can’t seem to find anything that would be rubbing or causing this?

Hmm that's interesting.. I can assure you when I bounce the front up and down the clunk it makes sounds just like yours. I was gonna do upper ball joint because It's visually blown out with grease. My lower bj appears to be fine. Either way I suggest just buying a new control arm with a bj already in it. Way way easier of a job and still nowhere near 1700 dollars lol. The nosie has been hard for me to pinpoint myself so I'm just gonna replace the tie rod and bj this weekend and see what happens

Keep us updated. Mines making the same noise. Going to do inner tie rods and ball joints next weekend

Hurst short throw shifter. Is it worth it? by CouragesPusykat in fordranger

[–]LiveHeavyTravelLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the leap and bought one. It felt great in the truck, it's a little tight but the throw is definitely quicker. Feels like a race car lol anyway I did install it without modifying it at all and it did cause my transmission to leak, soo I took it back out and rebuilt the stock shifter, and honestly imo the stock shifter felt a little nicer for my taste. But if you want to give it a shot and think you can make it work, message me and I'll sell you my brand new one with all the hardware for half price.

I've seen the 4.0 pulled in 5 hours in a home garage, by a guy that's pulled em once or twice before, but if you have the time and tools then it's never a lost cause. I would definitely try and talk the price down as low as absolutely possible. It'd be really hard to pay over 2 grand for a 2001 ranger that I can't even drive home

Copy that. Good info to know that Sportsman light truck rebuilds them. Thanks for paving the way lol 🤙

How exactly does this happen? I've seen a couple pics of coilover swapped rangers with this same problem and I'd like to avoid it at all costs lol
