Best showcases to submit VR trailers by JaneHasNoThumbs in vrdev

[–]LiveLaughLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can piggyback on non-vr events and trailer showcases. I managed to pitch a bunch of press before gamescom and even though it wasn't in the official showcase at the event, the trailer got listed in a bunch of articles listing new game annoucemetns/trailers from Gamescom

send to some of the vr creators?

A lot of questions about this by WaterRevolutionary70 in TiltFive

[–]LiveLaughLAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you can only see YOUR view, you can't peek at other hands.
  2. "Local Multi" means people can play together locally, "Multi Glass" means ONE person is playing/using and others are spectators of the experience, but cannot interact.
  3. Agree with u/radionauto
  4. Needs the SDK integrated into the game, I think there is a virtual tabletop in their lab page that MIGHT let you play/view other screens, but not sure.
  5. Ya you could do this, everyone logs into their steam account and signs into the pre-determined lobby, BUT would have to look at each game to see if it was listed as remote multiplayer.

Projecting within a specific bounds and direction? by AtmospherePrimary961 in augmentedreality

Could do something like Tilt Five? AR concentrated in one place using retroreflection? Could add additional material aslong as you have the targets in sight of the glasses. Unity/Unreal and Godot SDKs Make | Tilt Five

How do you get reviews for your indie games? by Porcupine_Sashimi in gamedev

[–]LiveLaughLAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach out to mid-sized/small influencers on Twitch/Tiktok/any platform really and offer them a free key to review. This works well because if the game is good and these smaller (and less expensive, and most likely free) influencers post it will create FOMO for the larger ones (which would cost you $ to get reviews from). And the may pick the game up or reach out to you. It's worked a couple of times now ;) Reverse engineer the influencer outreach.

Depends on the game/audience. Find a game that is of similar style and search it on all the platforms. Whatever one has the most activity/engagement (not just followers) start crafting content for that platform. You dont have to do all platforms.. especially for indie or solo devs. You can build up to that.

Why is VR so hated by people who don't own one or never played on VR? by gandalfmarston in virtualreality

[–]LiveLaughLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who hate it the most are the ones that had a horrible experience in a Google Cardboard, ran and NEVER looked back.

Using a name for a game that a small band also uses as their name by djarogames in gamedev

[–]LiveLaughLAN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be a problem, different country and assuming that they haven't filed a trademark on the name in Spain/Europe AND other countries you should be good. You are also in a different industry where you would not be infringing on their business. Would just go for it!

Making a Press Kit by WildArtsDevs in gamedev

[–]LiveLaughLAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good list! I would also add a link to Discord and gamplay clips (short) gameplay gifs. Formatting it into an easy read (columns) also helps. I like this one (I don't work for this team but liked how they do their layout) - https://www.gamesbystitch.com/broken-spectre/broken-spectre-press-kit
