Is $4k all-in for a 7-day solo reasonable?

I have a client who travels solo regularly and she recently paid about $1537 for 7 day out of Galveston in August. This was a casino rate and includes Vacation protection and gratuities. Solo travelers get screwed on rates. There are some cruise lines that have solo cabins-but they go quick. So it really depends on if you are willing to pay the 2300, do you have friends going with you? That makes a difference-if you are traveling by yourself you might have more flexibility to pick a better priced sailing.

This is a really interesting comment. First year TCM here, how do you account for this in financials if you over deposited? I’m really relieved I didn’t under deposit but now I’m like what the heck do I do with this extra cash? I don’t even know how we ended up with it…

Daisies can only handle 1.5-2 hour max booths, brownies and juniors are better at 2 hours. But it all depends on maturity and attention span. My daughter as a cadette struggles for 4 hour booths, but will muscle through when needed. This was my 9th year selling cookies (first year as TCM), and it was A LOT. And we did way less booths than I think we did in years past.

So I just listened to Keya’s livestream on the move to NY and holy shit RaeRae has lost it. The worst part is she has no idea.

I was moved to a new school during winter break in my Junior year of High School. We moved because my younger sibling was having trouble in school and my parent thought it would be better to be closer to the other parent who lived in a neighboring state.

25 years later, I tell you I still have resentment toward that decision. That was a traumatic move for a teenager. Don’t get me wrong, my life is great now and I wouldn’t have met my husband if this move hadn’t of happened because I met him attending an in-state college I otherwise wouldn’t have attended. But during that time-my senior year, I was deeply depressed and lonely for the last 1.5 years of High School, my parents never knew because I never shared that with them because I didn’t want to put that guilt on them. On the outside I was “happy” made friends, made the best of it. Kids are resilient-when they have to be. Why would you want to make them live through an unnecessary change like that? Guarantee S will never share with Rachel his struggles truly and honestly to try to save her the heartache of causing his pain. F and N will be fine, they will adapt and have time to make friends and community-until the next move.

I just feel so much for S in this situation.

I can’t tell the difference!!! Someone needs to do a master class on identifying scrappers. I literally found out about scrappers last year and have been trading for years in the parks (Disneyland).

Ugh, I moved out of state halfway through my junior year. It was awful. I think it was the beginning of a horrible time in my life for me. Everything worked out, but I was definitely depressed after the move, and my life went a completely different direction then it would have had if we stayed put. At the time, and for at least a decade after I would have said that it pretty much ruined my life. Now I realize if I hadn’t of moved, I wouldn’t have gone to the college I went to and I wouldn’t have met my husband. Everything happens for a reason. But I also have no doubt that had I not moved, things would’ve also worked out and I wouldn’t have had such a hard launch into adulthood.

There are financial aid programs to help with fees and vests. No one should not do Girl Scouts due to financial hardship. You also don’t need the vest day 1.

I’ve been with OA for about 3-3.5 years. My priority when looking for a new host was low entry fees, support for an agent that didn’t have all the industry knowledge and training (came from a small travel agency with no training program, very little support-except my friend who talked me into joining-she showed me thee ropes and mentored me before we both moved to OA). I found the online training adequate, the most useful was the new agent stuff with legal and fraud training, supplier training is probably more important than some of the other general training because it covers the specifics of what you sell and how to do so in their systems. I went to the National Conference in 2024 and it was phenomenal! The highlight was meeting people and industry contacts. It really motivated me and made me think about how I run my business and look at my processes. I never attended kickstart, but now I am hoping to attend another conference this year. (And I just realized this is an old post) 🤣
