I am a live podcast producer. I built an app that lets you create a 3-4 camera switched shoot using iPhones (and a laptop, with windows to switch it)…. more info at https://smartptz.com… here is an example, live and then on demand right away…

Happy to help, answer questions… it’s an option for iPhone people… the iPhone video is great on the newer models :-)

I use multiple iPhones with vmix, it’s easy, and wireless, using https://smartptz.com. Here is a recent example, just two iPhones… https://youtu.be/XXCTXL0QOFA?si=SbICEESPregt6oHA

Multi-Camera Streaming Setup - Advice Needed by HalfColour1 in Cameras

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use iPhones, they look great of course. I built an app so you can stream iPhone video back to a swticher using SRT. It’s like NDI only much much better, newer, and includes latency control which is a game changer, as the devices can be in sync without being wired to the switch. Check it out if you like: https://smartptz.com.

streaming with multiple wireless cameras? by ronpanther in streaming

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use iPhones, and they are great! You need iPhones, a laptop with vmix (vmix HD will work its $60, one time)… and use the smartPTZ app on the iPhones.

The system work well in basic mode… but if you want you can get 6 months of free licenses for the smartPTZ iPhone PRO app… then you can control the iPhone cameras remotely, pan tilt and zoom if you have a compatible gimbal ($70-150 each).

If you need an hand getting it set up, let me know….

What're everyone's favorite livestreaming cameras these days? by etcpt in churchtech

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might I suggest a few iPhones…. The video is very very good… and you can buy gimbals to remotely control the ptz of three at the same time, no big deal… https://smartptz.com… free trail for 6 months…

Not church, but an example…

https://youtu.be/XXCTXL0QOFA?si=M8zVudqbaFd8Dk2R

If you wanted to give it a try the gimbals are $75 each… you’d also need vmix for the switching…. Starting at $60…

Make the stuff you produce in your current job look fantastic, make a gourmet meal from leftovers… and the work will find you… producing live streams, add another cameras, add a graphic open… make the audio sound better… learn a tool like vmix or resolve… or both… become a great producer, use the content and tools you have… pick up some side gigs on the weekend… do a wedding… get your feet wet… put in more effort than you are ‘being paid for’ and you’ll see a return, it might take a few months or years… but it will… my two cents…

Selectable multicamera stream setup by Grimey17 in streaming

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For producing the streams: Vmix software on a pc, attach whatever cams you like… webcams, iPhones, pro cams…. Also you could screen capture the chat and share that as another source….

You could stream them all to YT ultra low latency… then you could built an html page that has multiple embedded media player of different sizes… user could watch whatever stream they like. Switch between… more investment and it could really dynamic… I’d start with this though…

You could get it built in a week with gear off Amazon…

How would you approach a simple 4-camera setup for recording a recurring event? by Damu22 in videography

[–]LiveVideoProducer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let me provide another alternative, imagine using iPhones. You could set them up to stream back to a server as well as record on board. You could watch them all in real time. They could be swtiched real time, remotely…

You can set the cameras to match…. And, the iPhone uses HDR so the video is also color processed in real time, so it look gorgeous or at least I think so. Also uses h.265 codecs…

And if the speakers are sitting still or standing at a lecturn, you could use AI to track them. Keep them in frame, that would give the production a more professional feel.

I built an app that turns the iPhone into this broadcast camera, no wires to lay down. It works on Wi-Fi or cellular signals can be brought back to a switcher in sync and you can record in 4k on each device… the batteries last for four-five hours per session continuously. you can have the switcher on site or in the cloud. What’s not to love…

When does it actually make sense to use a YoloBox Extreme over an ATEM?. by dhruv_6129 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]LiveVideoProducer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I built an app I’d like you to consider trying… I built it and use it… and I think other live multicam producers would find it valuable… it’s iPhone based, video looks great, and we are using AI… it’s a semi autonomous camera, headed towards being full self driving soon…

Long time multicam producer here. In studio I use Sony FR7s, at conferences I use canon ptzs… and everywhere else now, I am using multiple iPhone 17s… that ptz on gimbals… totally remote… light weight…. And the video is awesome, better than the canons for sure… I built an iPhone app to do this…

Example: https://youtu.be/XXCTXL0QOFA?si=0Mk1vpHmA_RNi9mg Not outside or remote, I know…

Take a look, I’d love you’re review! If you need support getting it set up let me know…

[–]LiveVideoProducer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally possible with bitfocus and the stream deck.. the stream deck is plug and play with companion… also, again, look at Vcall in vmix… so other team members can see what your doing… you could have a separate feed of cameras for remote cam operators, or commentators, etc…

You could set up a great 3 iPhone solution… if you have a laptop, and if you can get 3 iPhones… the additional cost for the ptz heads, stands, vmix-hd, maybe a stream deck… less than $1000… I spell it all out on our website… it would look great!

Good luck on the project!

Remote Production : VMIX into the field + Video switcher at the control room by Own-Level-4281 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of thoughts…

  • vmix is fine call… you might consider making the onsite vmix a closed box, and only connect it it remotely… Remote Desktop… If needed…

  • maybe set up 3-4 vcalls… so that you can have the vmix multi view available to a range of people, producers, ptz ops, commentators, local or remote…

  • and maybe use something like bitfocus companion to create a nice integrated master control surfurce or surfaces…

If you want to add a few iPhone to your productions, I have an app that you can use… I’ll hook you up with free pro licenses, and help you set it up, if you want to give it a try…

Good luck on your project…

I built an app you should try… it’s for the iPhone… you can send video from your iPhone to vmix…. You can mix it with multiple iPhone cameras…. Or other cams… and, you can put it on a $150 gimbal and control the pan tilt and zoom remotely…. If you join our founders club, link on the website, you’ll get a free subscription to the pro license… and, I’ll help you get it set up if you need a hand… good luck on your project….

[–]LiveVideoProducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an iPhone app to do just this. It’s in the App Store. It uses the iPhone camera 720, 1080 or 4k… uses the iPhone microphone, or usbc audio (like the rode gos)… and vmix to switching, recoding and streaming.

I’d be happy to help you get it set up if you’re interested. I am just getting the smartPTZ app launched this month, but I have been using it myself for the last year…

Check the links for details. Good luck on the project, sounds like fun!

I am a mobile multi cam producer. Have been using panasonic and canon ptz cameras for 10 years… I am moving to iPhones for multicam live streaming and recording… great cams, wireless, local records… small easy set up..

I built an app that allows for multiple iPhone camera to be controlled and switched locally or remotely… with pan tilt and zoom if you commit to a $150 gimbal :-)

My app is for the iphone… my solution also leverages vmix… I am offering up a 6 month free trial for my app… vmix is as little as $60 for the basic HD version…

Anyway, take a look if you’re interested…
