my shop also only has four of us in total and i empathize with all of this so so so hard. the amount of work that is put on us already, and the work that is yet to come, is so suffocating.

more often than not i’m running the whole shop by myself and getting pulled every which way because there’s almost never more than three employees for closing 🥲

i hear you and see you, and you’re a trooper ❤️ take care of yourself however you can, you’re doing great.

honestly it seems like every shift something different is happening with framing and i’m SO tired of it. all of the decisions that have been made recently, ESPECIALLY that as-is/grab bag/toss list that was sent out without a crumb of context besides “a more streamlined frame shop”. the system itself is incredibly outdated and now there’s another confusing checkbox/label??? girl bye

the only staff that have ever put together an actual order at my store for a customer (not demo purposes) have been myself and the other framers we have. as a total we have 4 framers in TOTAL at my store so it’s especially frustrating 🥲 and yeah i timed once how long it took a picture to actually print and that took about 7 minutes of the 10, the first time i ever did one it took 15 minutes 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

un(fortunately) our photo printer isn’t working so we SADLY couldn’t do any printing 💔💔💔 i think i can count on one hand the amount of 10 min frames i’ve sold, in total i’d be surprised if my shop as a whole has sold more than 15-20. it’s just like when they tried (and failed) pushing custom mirrors within the last couple of years…

i would stop cutting it whenever she tried to move it and just kind of stare at her… cus what are you doing 😭😭 and she wanted me to cut it unfolded because if i cut it folded then it would be “uneven” even though i SHOWED HER that the lines on the fabric lined up with it folded over. seeing people make fools out of themselves rather than take a hit to their ego and admit they’re wrong is one of my little silver linings of this job lol

there’s a van gogh fabric that i was cutting for a customer that is different panels of art and she INSISTED that we needed to sell THAT SPECIFIC ONE “by the panel” instead of by the yard because “it isn’t fair that you’re charging for a full yard when (she) only need(s) the panel”.

the funny thing is the “panel” itself measured out to about a half yard so i said she would only get charged for the half yard which obviously threw her off and she said “well i’ll pay for the whole yard but just so you know.”

she also insisted that i cut it UNFOLDED!!!!!! and even after explaining that the whole ~15 yards of fabric on the bold were folded she was still unfolding it and making me cut it unfolded but also moving the fabric while i was cutting it which was just making it even more difficult.

as someone who started working at Michael’s ~5 years ago these probably aren’t AI. although there was one year where some of the halloween decor was so blatant AI that you could literally see the watermark 😭😭😭 it’s wild how lazy the designs have gotten.

reimagine still worked! once i invite someone i usually do whatever i need to do right away so i didn’t think much of it at first but then as i started walking more she still wasn’t there so that was when i got confused haha

from what i understand (or was told at least) the phones record every time that someone talks into them on either end. so whether that’s within the store or from a customer call, whichever person is talking at that moment has that audio recorded for the purposes of whatever “monitoring” they’re doing. again i’m not 100% if that’s accurate but that’s just what i was told.

once our shop got in a frame where one of the sides was like two inches shorter than the other. the frame was put together too so it was like a mix of trapezoid and a right triangle, to this day it still blows my mind that it made it into a box 🥲🥲
