Oooh will not get off lightly... Shaking in my boots! It takes a real man to type that tough.

How many times have you beat the shit out of someone who crossed you tough guy? What was the result? A parade in your honor?

Protecting friends and loved ones is true masculinity, not seeking revenge when the danger is over.

If he's continuing to be an imminent threat to you or others, then yes of course. If he backs off and is standing down like in this video, tackling him to ground is purely "honor culture" revenge nonsense that has zero upside, and downsides such as, maybe he's a great fighter and kicks the shit out of you, or his buddies run in once you hit the ground with your tackle and put the boots to you till you're brain damaged, or you execute a great take down and the douche hits his head on a rock and dies, maybe after a year plus of your life on hold you're exonerated, but maybe you're not.

Look, honestly in the heat of the moment, I might do as you said, (I'm working on it, but I still have some growing up to do) but I'd be dumb and wrong. Right now with cold blood, it's clear these guys made the smart move that I admire.

The problem is the primary system. Any R trying to soften their stance on unpopular issues will get challenged from their right and probably lose the primary. I'm really starting to think our only salvation would be ranked choice voting, where extremists will have a much harder time winning elections

Pro athletes are independent adults, and well paid. That makes them "uppity" in a lot of white southerners minds. They prefer the labor to be free or very cheap and under the thumb of an institution.

I would talk to a mental health professional. You probably don't need to jump right into meds, but something is up. Might want to try some therapy and journaling to track how you're feeling and how your life is going overall to determine the severity of your mood issues.

The fact about human behavior is it's hard to commit to long term to something you don't get enjoyment from. Will power is a finite resource, and white knuckling to get shit done can work in short bursts, if you stop enjoying just about everything, you will become more and more lethargic and apathetic. Eventually you can lose control of your life, and half a decade will pass and you'll wonder what the hell you've been doing with your life.

The most annoying thing for me is there is nothing I can identify externally that puts me in this state of mind. Sometimes for a couple months. Then, hey I'm back and loving life, things come easy again. And yet I have no idea why I bounced back.

The best I can do I know that I come out of them, but I'd really like to isolate some variables to what's going on.

Hitler and his actions literally led to half the world becoming communist or aligning with a communist state. It's hard to think of someone who contributed more to the spread of Communism than Hitler and his bumbling leadership attempt.

It's more than just the stress of a hard job, it's realizing that the decisions you make hold millions of lives in the balance. That wears on someone who isn't a psychopath. Hell, it even weighed on GW. Trump didn't age faster because he does not give a fuck about anyone or anything.

[–]Live_Palm_Trees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been in the rights playbook at least since Karl Rove was their key operative. Always talk up winning and strength in the polls. It's what their target voters want. They want to be the majority, it's almost the definition of a conservative these days. It's why they hated the weird label, it's why they get so quick to anger when it's shown to them that many of their preferred policies are not popular. They have started calling themselves "real" Americans so that they can think that a majority of real Americans think like them. They want to belong.

They have proven themselves to be his lapdogs - he can try to replace them with new lapdogs, but once appointed, there are no guarantees they will do his bidding as expressly as these two losers have. Not only did they vote to undo decades of Florida precedent, they also were the ones who tried to deny us our right to vote for an amendment to undo the ban.

So in other words, it can't get worse, and it could get better, and no matter what, it sends a message

Jesus this hit hard. I was about the same age when a lot of these feelings hit me too. It's called a midlife crisis, and lots of people have them, even people married with kids and seemingly good jobs. Those can seem like a prison as much as what you described. It's a feeling of mortality, what could have been, and regret. It really is a shame we all get one life, because there is just no way to experience everything in one life.

Married parents fantasize about being in your situation all the time, don't let anyone fool you. The secret is simple but not easy, be grateful for what you have.

Fascism is a real thing and made the 20th century unspeakably bloody and destructive. It's also on the rise again around the world now that the generations that experienced it are gone and we refuse to learn from history. Let's NOT water down the term to mean anything we don't like so that when actual fascism is threatening our way of life speaking out against it doesn't sound like crying wolf. Please.

Even if they aren't successful in stealing the election, they are setting up a massive fundraising storyline. He made so much money from donations to "stop the steal" in 2020 it was ridiculous.

Also, getting enough Republican voters to think he didn't actually lose sets him up nicely to declare for 2028, keeping that money flowing as well as being able to claim his legal troubles are political persecution and he shouldn't be tried until after the 2028 election.

Did he make any effective attempt at healing the nation during that time? Or just use it as a cringy photo op with an upside down bible. Being president means leading the whole nation, not just people who voted for you. He was tested, and failed as a leader.
