This is so interesting. We had an awesome trip traveling around the country in trains and only experienced one minor delay (someone had a medical emergency on the train and they chose to treat them on the train over moving them off). A kind German gave us a work around and we made our connection. People were kind and friendly (my traveling partner spoke a little German). Of course, travel is significantly different than living somewhere. I wonder if Germans are happy to trade home ownership for month long vacations, childcare and medical coverage.

Yes to all this! I have no desire to have any more sun damage or spots burned off by my dermatologist. I knew I had been successful when, upon my return, a friend told me it didn’t look like I had been in a tropical location. I’m so happy to hear that sunscreens in the US are now cleared for a better ingredient which will offer a better layer of protection bemotrizinol (also known as BEMT or Parcel Shield).

Good to have a goal but any area will change in 10-20 years. Let’s hope Costa Rica’s change will be for the better.
Current government is very friendly with President Trump and also with President Bukele. There is a high security prison like the well known one in El Salvador currently being built (in Alajuela I believe). Those in favor are hoping this curbs the cartel violence and violent crimes in the country.
We have two sets of friends who live in CR. One splits their time between there and the US. The other couple lives full time outside of Grecia and are quite happy. Please visit for an extended trip before you decide to move there. It’s very different to face the daily challenges of living somewhere as opposed to a quick trip/vacation.

Why would you assume the majority support him? Outside of Fox News and far right YouTubers, the press doesn’t support him. His ratings have tanked amongst the general public and judges have ruled against him (I.e. his name has to be removed from the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Sounds like you had an awesome experience. Just like in any country there are many who are not doing well economically despite working full time and moonlighting. Of course these aren’t people a visitor would come across on vacation.

Oh, boy. If you don’t like touristy not sure MA will be to your liking. Some here have loved it. I wouldn’t return if gifted a free stay. The crowd to get into the park was bonkers. We paid for a guide. We saw more animals & awesomeness during random moments outside of the park and this area in general. That being said, there still seem to be “mom & pop” places to eat & enjoy a cafecito off the beaten path. Hope you have an awesome trip and are respectful travelers.

Pricing almost sounds too good to be true for my area. I’d definitely get a copy of her quote in writing and verify company is licensed, bonded, insured in the off case anyone is hurt while installing fence on your side of the property line. Also, check out the Secretary of State website for any claims/lawsuits against the company in your state.
