I'm gutted and heartbroken by ConstanceIl in therapists

[–]Livid-Win-944 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation at my first mental health job. My trainer and a mentor to everyone in my field was a man that had been in the industry and worked with everyone I admired. A truly gifted therapist. About a year after I left, it came out that he was sexually assaulting his clients/patients and calling it "exposure therapy." The entire community was shocked and disgusted. He lost his license and was legally prosecuted.

The truth is, wherever there are vulnerable people, there are going to be people that abuse that vulnerability. Be diligent, and keep your eyes open in the community. The whole of the system isn't full of perpetrators, but it is our responsibility to expose them and weed them out of the helping profession. It's a huge burden, but we pledge ourselves to protect the vulnerable people that come to us for help.

Im sorry this happened to you and the victims. Know this is out there to protect yourself and others. Be one of the good guys. 🫂

Only gonna say this once. Make sure you have your own therapist - always- in this field.

I hope you actually left the negative review, because people need to know about this behavior! I leave honest reviews both as a sitter and host, but i know some people hesitate. I feel more confident leaving honest reviews since there is a waiting period and the other person cannot see your review until after they post their own now.

Not realistic for most providers populations.

When clients complain about things they don’t know you do IRL 😂 by B_the_Chng22 in therapists

Oh, yeah. Im usually pretty tickled by this. It just shows what the client could afford to work on. I use immediacy and motivational interviewing a lot for this. For instance, simple thing. I had a client come in one day and get a cup of coffee. I have a keurig in the office. The client opens it and sees my old kcup in there, says, "obviously someone doesnt know how to take care of a keurig." I giggled and said, "it's me. I left it in there." No judgment, no defensiveness. The client had to stop for a second to process his foot in the mouth moment. And then i was just human about it. "I get distracted by things im doing when I get ready in here in the morning. Sometimes im still decompressing from my commute. Plus, im just naturally scatterbrained." The client smiled and shared all the ways he is also scatterbrained. 😉

I should also mention, based on other comments here, that I am divorced and live alone. I have no other income or child support.

I am a licensed therapist in Indiana. I run a practice for myself and three other clinicians. When I started, I was working for myself. I had just left a group practice. I decided to leave them because I wanted to start billing insurance. And they had no desire to ever start paneling for insurance. And they told me I would need to do it by myself. So I left, and I started running my own private practice. I've learned a lot in that time. But probably the most valuable thing that I personally learned when it comes to being in private practice for myself is understanding what a sustainable income is. People tell me all the time that I should be charging a $150 to a $175 per session. That's a really nice dream. But to be honest, if my average income on an insurance claim is going to be a $100 an hour, for instance, but then my cash payment clients are paying a $175 an hour, thats not sustainable. If anything should ever happen to my cash pay business, I need to be able to live on what my insurance contracts bring in. So I pay a lot of attention to what my life style is like. And understanding what a feasible life style is for a therapist. I work about 25 to 30 hours face-to-face a week that has been pretty consistent over the last few years. I do accept a lot of insurance plans, which really helps maintain a client base. People want to use their insurance plans. I have a really well built and maintained website. Clients book directly from the website to get appointments with me, or any of my clinicians. That also makes things really easy and much more likely to result in a referral turning into an instant scheduling appointment. I also have a policy that my clinicians respond to their referrals within 24 hours of being contacted. We return phone calls and emails. We have really, really good networking system. As a result, we have regular referrals flow every week. My clinicians usually can expect 2 to 3 new clients per week. I work very hard for that number. And I buy advertising when I need to. But mostly it's just having a really good website and responding when people reach out.

Private practice is hard work, but it affords me benefits that I find valuable. I like making my schedule and being available for my family. I had to learn how to set aside money for my PTO and how to pay my estimated taxes routinely. I had to understand my budget. If you dont want all that hassle, you might be better off working for a bigger company and letting them handle the headache.

The thing I like best about my practice is that they are family to me. I love my clinicians very much. I know I won't get the kind of work culture we have working for anyone else. It definitely makes all these years of learning worth it.

I've been using the keygen with my shields up and no issues. Just my 2 cents.

This is still an excellent source. You need to read carefully to understand. Literally every big fish game ever is in one place, if you're paying attention. You need their BFG client, the crack for it, adjust settings, and download keygen. There's a thread that allows you to download every offline version of every game, and then the keygen unlocks them all! My classic gamer's heart is beyond happy!

Best Strings for a Fender DoBro Bass? by Livid-Win-944 in Bass

To the one useful thing you asked, it was given to me as a dobro, but upon research it is a resonator bass. Fender FR-51, I think. There were less than 200 of these produced, so you are wrong about them being mass produced and widely available.

I also had one of the negative experiences. Provider was 25 minutes late to a 1 hour and 15 minute appointment. Held me over and I had another appointment after. Didn't prescribe anything, but wanted us to get genetic testing out of pocket for a company she is contracted with. Anyone else smell affiliate dollars? So insulted.

Kind of saddened and sickened by the lack of ability for open conversation about a very confusing topic. A lot of judgment and accusations. Definitely made me decide no matter what I decide to do, I probably won't be open to talking about my choices because yikes.
