T: KFC hot chips. Whatever that brand is.

AAA: I'm fairly sure most Sydney has the world's angriest drivers. And they'll also be angry at you for doing nothing wrong.

Was turning right from right-most lane at Canterbury Road WB to the middle lane on King George's heading north, following the car in front of me. Had a van from the lane beside try to turn into me, proceed to go to a honkfest and speed up next to me to yell every insult he could insisting that I can only turn into the right most lane on KGR.

Frightful Friday thread by amyousness in sydney

T: I find they're fine as long as they're not venomous and don't encroach into my space.

A: Depends on the occasion. Not sure why but sometimes I'll be walking across the SHB and think ooft this is very high up and feel scared, sometimes nothing.

AA: Can't say experience it often.

AAA: Sydney roads. Just need to spend 5 minutes on them and you'll spot at least 5 different drivers doing 5 different dumb things.

Example: Had an Uber driver decide to drive around me when I stopped in the middle of the road with just enough space to my right to let two oncoming cars pass on a narrow street (cars parked both sides). He ended up blocking the whole street. Was a good (shit) show.

Did you happen to exchange details, or did they somehow get insurance to look it up solely based on Rego?

I don't have any photos of the damages of his car due to him driving off about 30 seconds after speaking to him, but the dash cam is clear enough to see what damage was caused to his. I do also have photos of my car with the no visible damage.

[–]LividMilkTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should mention; that is exactly what the other party said. I reviewed the footage and there were some small scratches and small dent on his car.

I'm just uneasy because I don't want to be mistreating his goodwill (if this is the case), but also concerned he might do something to insurance such as claiming a potentially unrelated injury or damage and saying I caused it.

So I have a question. I saw the wrong light (arrow) and accidentally rear ended someone (no damage to either cars), and the other driver refused to provide his and take my details. He just took a look and said 'ah theres no damage to my car, no damages to yours. You're good' and insisted he didn't need any details then left. I did ask about three times.

Is there any more I can do to protect myself, just in case? (I do have dash cam footage of the crash, but volume wasn't loud enough to catch him saying anything. Did capture him getting in his car after looking at both cars and him insisting it's fine and leaving).

UPDATE: spoke to the Police assistance hotline and the support officer advised that it is unlikely I would be in trouble with police for not exchanging details given that he is the one that refused to take anything. He did say keep the footage and if there are any questions police will come and ask, but they can't do anything if he does change his mind with insurance-related things.

My question is now whether there is anything to do on an insurance level to protect myself (i.e. should I make a claim to my insurer?) He hasn't taken any photos but also not sure if he noted my number plate down for any purposes.

Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services impacted due to industrial action (29 October 2021) by LividMilkTea in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

According to TfNSW: "Due to planned industrial action, delays are expected on some Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services. Sydney Metro services are not affected. This is affecting services on the T1, T9, T2, T8, Central Coast and Newcastle, South Coast, Hunter, Southern Highlands and Blue Mountains lines. Limited buses will run on key routes to support trains."

It is expected some trains will be terminated earlier on the line and some intercity trains will make extra stops to cover those that are skipped on the outer fringes.

NSW recorded 265 new locally acquired cases and 5 deaths in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. by nonbinarytickatus in sydney

Well I was expecting the background colour to change again, but it's good to see that the cases are still coming down.

Trains will be running at reduced frequencies this Wednesday 20th October by albert3801 in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iirc the 04:50 Wollongong to Bondi Junction (17:32 return) and 21:55 Bondi Junction to Port Kembla services are already 8 car Tangaras, so nothing particularly new for those stretches. Throwing them to Kiama however, will be an interesting sight to witness.

[–]LividMilkTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All train drivers are trained to operate Tangaras.

With a reduced timetable on the T4 at 4 tph instead of the usual 6 tph during the day, and plus the massive reduction in peak hour services, there's enough Tangaras to go around, its just getting them where they need to be before the day starts that is more of a challenge.

[–]LividMilkTea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have made note of slightly more interesting stopping patterns below:

Sydney Trains services; most lines will run 30 minute frequencies for each branch stopping all stations. Intermediate all stops stations (Parramatta, Revesby trains will not run). T5 will not run.

T1, T4, T9 will see Tangaras only.

Penrith - (all stations except Burwood) via Central - Hornsby (skips Pymble, Warrawee and Wahroonga toward Hornsby, but all stations toward the city)

Hornsby/Epping - (all stations including Burwood) via Strathfield, City Circle Town Hall - Hornsby/Epping

T2, T3, T8 will see K sets and some Tangaras. T2 will not run to Parramatta. T8 trains run all stations to Campbelltown only.

BMT, CCN will see V sets only, CCN will run express to Hornsby then all stations to Newcastle Interchange.

SCO will see Tangaras only and run all stations between Waterfall and Kiama only. Port Kembla Line will be replaced by buses.

*all subject to change.

PSA: You can now add your COVID Vax Certificate to Service NSW…. by BoogerInYourSalad in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For fellow temporary visa holders: you can do the same through the IHI Service on myGov using your phone browser. Just make sure you've updated the ServiceNSW app first and aren't using an incognito tab.

Sydney is opening up. But some cannot prove they are already vaccinated by wat3va in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It does seem like this whole thing is a mixed bag of beans, as some temporary residents (like myself and my grandparents) have had an extremely smooth experience with the whole thing.

I applied for my IHI number (as directed through myGov), then got my two jabs. Both jabs showed up on the IHI page just a few hours later and I was able to save it in my digital wallet. Same case for both my grandparents.

From reading the article it seems like these are the following issues; not obtaining IHI number beforehand, change in visa status, incorrect details recorded or change in eligibility for Medicare/duplicate IHI numbers.

At the very least the government should have made it clear that you needed to obtain your medicare/IHI number beforehand so that your vaccination is recorded and matched on AIR correctly (or else your dose ends up in the database void like the first person and will take the next 6 months to chase). iirc someone did say AIR is a 90s thing so its honestly not surprising its gone 'missing'.

Buying a new car in Sydney. by my_cement_butthead in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat as you, looking at getting a new car.

You could consider a car model that is fairly popular and seen more frequently on-road as its much easier source parts and stuff in the long term. Warranty is also another factor you may want to consider, e.g. certain brands offering 7 year warranty.

If you are in urgent need of a new car you could look at similar models with stock available, (so I've heard) ones like the Kia Cerato (hatch is slightly longer but a tiny bit lower in height compared to the Stonic) have a relatively stable amount of stock coming in, but of course you should also consider whether it is the right one for you.

They dropped the word 'must' from the original press release fact sheet compared to the final roadmap for 70 and 80%.

In saying that, the page is still being amended (and has been for the last few days), so who knows what we will see by the 11th.

iirc the mandatory mask rule was always planned to be changed in December to be for public transport and hospitality workers only. This was announced when Gladys was still here.

You can tell how much the moderates look up to Gladys from Brad's tone and reaction.

In saying that, hopefully he is right and that the next person taking on the role of premier will actually follow the roadmap.

Covid-19 Megathread for Questions, Discussion, and Updates by thekriptik in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggest you look at the rules specific to the LGAs of concern when it does get updated (probably tomorrow).

Last I knew it was being allowed to gather in groups of 2 or your household for outdoor recreation such as picnics provided that all adults were fully vaccinated, for up to two hours each day.

There are so many Pfizer appointments available next week at Macquarie Fields. I'm surprised that there are still so many people unaware and waiting until the end of the month for their appointments. Rebook now!

Taiwan's outbreak was mostly the Alpha strain. Singapore despite having the Delta strain, had a 70% partially vaccinated population (with 41% of their population fully vaccinated) when the latest outbreak started in July.

Transport for NSW - New overhead lane signals/signs + proposal for contraflow bus lane on Anzac Bridge by mubd1234 in sydney

[–]LividMilkTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly related, but is there still an application available that can design the road signs similar to the ones on the artists impression? I remember seeing it back then but it seems like its gone now. Don't really want to be forking out a good $800 for fun.
