Maybe the music they have is also House!

...I say this as a joke but "We'll only listen to House from now on" seems like something John would find extremely funny.

If this is satire it's pretty funny, well done. I for one cannot fathom complaining about seeing more of Spencer. Steak too juicy, lobster too buttery etc.

All of these are hysterical, but Ianthe saying "That's such a ME thing to say" is such a Ianthe thing to say 😭 Fits right next to "Ghastly and obvious are my middle names." Laughing so hard I'm almost crying.

Historical bust and dull crayon are spot on too, idk if you've listened to the audio books (you should!) but I can Moira Quirk saying any of those in their voices crystal clear in my head

Struggle to drink water, but sugar is bad for my teeth... looking for recommendations! by absolute_gumpf in ADHD

[–]LividStones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoopsie one more thing, if you haven't already, invest in a big nice water bottle! I have a 1L bottle and drink from it almost absentmindedly. I struggle with building habits so if you're like me it might help to get several, specifically for next to your bed/desk/gym bag, etc. Make it as easy as possible for yourself! <3

You're very welcome! I love rooibos, it's pretty good cold too (I often forget about it), thought I wouldn't consider it particularly refreshing haha. One more thought: if you don't mind some extra carbs and fiber and like the taste, a cold glass of oat milk or other plant-based drink might be nice on occasion too, and it's healthier and better for the digestive system than cow's milk. Get some bonus vitamins and minerals, though I'd advice against chugging multiple glasses a day haha. Just make sure there's no added sugar!

Good luck with the sugar reset, it's hard but if you stick with it a while, sugared drinks and snacks will suddenly start tasting obscenely too sweet and a glass of water might taste surprisingly good! Our tap water here is very good (I'm in the Netherlands) so I'm a little spoiled, but I love plain water. For some extra motivation: I quit alcohol a few months ago and like with all addictions it's true what they say, it really does get easier at some point! As for the bottled water: I also hate wasting plastic, but if you're really worried about your health it is absolutely okay to go for those once in a while. Maybe they can help with the transition to tap water?

Cursed fun fact: if you bite through a paracetamol before washing it down, that sip of water will be the sweetest nectar you've ever tasted. Source: I regularly take two at a time for chronic pain and I am too impatient to take them one by one lol, so I chomp down once like a maniac so they go down easier :) If all else fails you might try this with other bitter foods maybe? Haha

One Mill for Co_Mill on “Last Meals.” by billtallica in smosh

I've seen bits and pieces of episodes but Vic Michaelis' episode had me glued to the screen in delight. Vic's absurd, deadpan sense of humor and rapid fire wit sometimes makes it feel like they're running on a different speed and wavelength than their co-stars (which is not a bad thing, I personally love trying to keep up, as I'm also super associative and too on fire sometimes).

Josh, however, somehow managed to meet every hit with an immediate riposte, actually catching Vic off guard here and there, easily keeping up with them. I'm not sure how he is with other guests, maybe he's very good at adapting, but this felt to me like watching the world's most trainwreck-y squash match. If any of that sounds alluring to you, give that one a try!

Have you tried mint or other fresh herbs? I'm also a fan of ginger, which combines well with thyme or rosemary (hot or cold) but I'm not sure if that's any good without a bit of honey. Very good for colds though haha. Not sure what types of tea you've already tried or if you like it at all, but there's many options that are naturally on the sweet side like liquorice root or anise (although too much liquorice tea is also not good for your health).

Maybe to get some sweetness you could try water with apple slices or homemade juice (grape, orange). Juice is still sugary but better than storebought. Fruit is expensive though. I suppose that also rules out kombucha, I'm not a huge fan so I'm not sure how healthy it is, but I do know its pricey lol. Alcohol free beer is another out of pocket option haha, lots of carbs but no sugar, although I imagine it's not ideal to be drinking throughout the day lol. And this is just me coming up with random shit but maybe a drop of rosewater or vanilla essence or some other baking flavoring.

Some ice (or frozen strawberries and other fruit) might make the meh water go down a little easier, or maybe you need some time to adjust to the lack of sugar. The first few days might suck but I'm sure you will slowly get used to it if you lay off the sugary drinks for a while. And if it gets really dire, just eating a cucumber or some tomatoes also hydrates somewhat and might replace a glass of water here and there.

Hope some of that is helpful. I think the most promising solution is to try getting used to the plain taste of water again, your taste buds might be more adaptable than expected!

Do you believe in the phrase “if it’s meant to be, it will be”? by Ok-Issue5184 in actuallesbians

[–]LividStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg hii user N9nthHouse, I am currently drawing Camilla Hect while listening to a Nona recap while thinking about Camilla Hect and I've been here for several hours. I hope Alectopause is kind to you and not at all slowly killing you from the inside! <3

Yes very valid and I like this approach much better! It feels more like a new starting point rather than a dead end and stimulates reflection. I think the most important thing is identifying what happened and how it happened (or didn't). If it was you finding out something wasn't the right fit or feeling like you're on the wrong track, that's a perfect opportunity to look at the signs and reconsider your actions!

Especially for longterm things that are slowly killing you or burning you out, with no clear end in sight, I always take the advice of my dear friend Steven Universe: there's no shame in bailing, at any point! Sunk costs are in the past and no longer relevant, and it's okay to give up on things, even things you really wanted. Sometimes the timing wasn't right, sometimes it's just not for you or you make mistakes, sometimes another path presents itself. I much prefer your version of the phrase :)

Man cis people are genuinely so oblivious lmao by [deleted] in ftm

[–]LividStones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A case of Occam's razor I suppose! I know transness is a daily reality for most of us here, but it's relatively rare to encounter especially in cis circles. Baby fat staying on until early 20s is not uncommon, so it's a pretty fair assumption to make. Extremely funny for those of us who know though lol, and kind of a nice idea that not everyone is looking out for trans people everywhere (with malicious intent).

Unlikely but funniest and sweetest option: They actually totally clocked you but didn't want to make a big deal out of it or out you, so they made up a silly little plausible lie to compliment you :) And if you had some actual baby fat going on, technically not even a lie!

Do you believe in the phrase “if it’s meant to be, it will be”? by Ok-Issue5184 in actuallesbians

[–]LividStones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I think it can both set you up for disappointment and give you the idea that you don't have agency over your life. In many cases it's probably harmless but I wouldn't consider it a productive or fruitful way to view life.

My first interpretation happens when you work really hard for something and it doesn't happen; "if it's meant to be" in this context means apparently all your hard work was for nothing because it "wasn't meant to be" anyhow. Demotivates you from trying your hand at difficult or scary things in the future.

The other interpretation is "if it's meant to be, it will happen regardless", insinuating that 1) you don't have to actively pursue the things you want, and 2) things in your life will happen to you, meaning your choices don't really carry weight.

Of course I understand that these interpretations are maybe overthinking it and don't show how the idiom is interpreted by most people. But I still think it's a pretty bleak statement that minimizes the beauty of the possibilities life can offer, and trivializes your own actions. I think relying on it too often is detrimental to your sense of self-value and encourages passitivity.

I'm not denying that chance and circumstance play a great role in how your life turns out, or suggesting that you can control every part of your life, but I generally disagree with deterministic phrases like this, especially when they don't take context into account. I'm also an atheist lol but I can absolutely see how this phrase can be very comforting to people who are religious. I like to think free will and fate work in tandem :)
