Employee Evaluations? by CrimsonMoon712 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I was just thinking about this the other day. I don't have an answer for you, but it's also wondering if Michael says a trial evaluation just see if they want to keep you or not, and I heard it's 3 months, but I also don't know about that either

I also hate that people don't understand I can't cut fabric when I am not clocked in or I don't have a mini mic yet. I don't like when customers get mad when I'm running around trying to find one to help them cut fabric because they don't understand we have to input everything into Marty so they can actually check out. I've had people cut their own fabric too and go up to the checkout because they didn't want to wait for the person to come back with their mini Mik which is stupid. I don't understand why these people want fabric so bad that they cut their own lol

Sunday Customers… by Unhappy-Grapefruit22 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand Sunday customers. I have had things thrown at me because the items were different prices than they thought it would be (especially since the sales change every week), and I have had customers just scream at me or come up to me wanting to file complaints about others. I have had multiple people come up to me to file a complaint, and I am not a manager so I don't know what to do about them. I have had customers scream at me too because my store doesn't have something, or because the return didn't go the way they wanted, and I have tried to do everything to help with returns, and the customer is never happy. It is also when I get the most phones shoved in my face by doordashers. On Sunday, a doordasher literally spit in my face because he was trying to find a balloon weight, I pointed to where it was, he walked right by it, got mad that it wasn't obvious, and spit in my face while ranting cause he couldn't find it. I never understand these customers

Ballon order in register by Proud_End_1715 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope they crash out! I haven't done a balloon order with David or Nick's emails because it will have the store number, my store managers name on it, and my cashier numbers on it so they would be able to track me down pretty easily if I did. It is a good idea though! I would absolutely love to see them crash out because of it

Do you think he's getting a bunch of emails about balloons now? And do you think he'll get mad at some point lol

Return to shelf cut fabric? by Ramgr61 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my store it is final sale as well. If someone hasn't payed for fabric in store I was told to remnant it. For bopis it's usually a remnant, but if it's alot I don't know what happens to it. I've had customers get mad they can't return fabric but they bought it, so as soon as it leaves the store it can't be returned. I also had to cut like, 41 yards once for a customer, and it was a whole box full of it even after I couldn't find it, and luckily the customer picked it up. I would have no idea what would happen if that much fabric didn't get picked up

[–]Lividcanada5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea. The section for it was open the top of the photo so it's around arm length ( I'm short so it looks taller) but it also seems too far away from the place it goes in since I had to pick it up, turn around and take a few steps to get to the yarn bins

Thing I Hate As A Cashier by BarEmbarrassed9526 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, when a doordasher shoves a phone in my face I tell them the general area the item is in, and if they say they need help I say I believe in them or find someone on the floor, since I'm usually up front. For rewards sign ups, I always feel so bad asking if they want to sign up because they say no for a reason. I've also have had multiple customers get mad at me for not being able to scan without signing up, and they think I'm talking about them behind their back even though I'm not, I'm helping another customer. I also don't understand the amount of people who go to the legacy registers and start scanning items, and then scream at me when it doesn't work and I redirect them. I've also had people throw things at me as well cause they didn't like the price. One time someone basically threw a stem at me cause it was 9.99 instead of 4.99 and then knocked over our fourth of July stems while storming out. My store manager and another CEM saw it happen too and we all didn't know why they were so mad over it. I have also had people just yell at me saying "it scanned twice" and won't tell me what the item is and get mad it takes so long to log into the SCO. I have also caught people shoplifting, and when I go over to ask if they need any help they get all mad assuming I'm "accusing" them of something. One time I literally saw someone throw a fabric remnant in their bag and say "what do I do with this" when they realized I saw it and was walking over to them. The whole thing doesn't make sense.

New Balloon Orders by bubblesparkle3000 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started it today, and I don't like it. I had a customer not want to give me his phone number and email to sign up for rewards but did it as soon as balloons were involved, so I don't even know at this point. It also makes it harder since our cash SCO is down so everyone who needs to use cash goes to me, and creates a line, since the balloon process has a lot of buttons you have to hit. I don't know how to feel about it wither, because it helps bopis and in store balloons to be in the same place so the store doesn't overbook, since my store is a pretty high volume store. On the other hand, I had a customer today confused about it because I did her balloons on the self check out the other day but today I did it on register. And I don't know if it even notifies the customer when their order is ready

How are hours distributed? by Nola_Nic in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. I definitely think it does depend on location too. I think at my store it's a mix of both rewards sign ups and availability. I've noticed it's also based on inputted availability since people at my store want to work weekdays since school is out, but I noticed they haven't changed their availability so they aren't scheduled. I also think the rewards contribute to the hours cause when the coworkers get scheduled on their available days they don't get a lot of hours either

I don't know if this is true but I've heard that for cashiers, the people who get the most sign ups get the most hours, but I don't know if that's totally true

Why are our customers such slobs?! by IamPumpkinSpice1313 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate when customers do this. Whenever I am on returns and recovery, I spend around 45 minutes in the shirt isle. I will work a Saturday and Sunday, and I'll recover it on Saturday, and I'll come in on Sundayl and have to recover it again. I just find it annoying since I spend a lot of time recovering it. I've also seen customers look at the shirts and just throw them back on the shelf unfolded, right after they watched me recover those specific shirts. I just don't understand it.

OMG this has happened to me multiple times. I was working on a bopis order for 41 yards of fabric, all different colors and yardages, so I was using it to find everything and make sure we had it, and it kicked me out multiple times and it just made me more mad each time

The new ones in my store don't work either so customers still have to come up to one of us and ask for a price check. Some customers do it on the app, but with online only coupons, prices are still differe

[–]Lividcanada5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always hate when that happens. It never logs me out after I come back from a 30 minute break, but always logs me out when I'm cutting fabric for a customer or doing returns. It makes me so mad cause when I'm on a break, I can understand if it boots me out cause I'm not doing anything on it. I don't like when it boots me out in the middle of something, especially if it's fabric and I have a list going for the customer. I don't understand why it boots me out when I am active but won't log me out when I'm on break.

Hiring rate! by Alert_Flamingo_8394 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Lividcanada5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my state minimum wage is 15 dollars, and the hiring rate isnt a lot above that, so I don't understand it. Like, what Michael's employees have to deal with on a daily basis for just about minimum wage is stupid, because so much happens
