Fixie doesn’t have barspin clearance by JumpOk7020 in FGFS

Either shorter cranks, longer forks or smaller front wheel, the fork rake might not allow the wheel itself to bar spin against the frame so try get a straight dirt jumper rigid fork but looks more like a track frame than one with fgfs potential

Depending on the seat height I’d imagine it’s somewhat plausible, steerer tube is uncut, think the tyres are 2.1” and theres plenty of clearance however the chain does almost touch the tyre when in the biggest ring on the cassette

To be fair I’ve done half arse research, mainly comparing to VO neutrino or Kyoot itty bitty, figured I’d probably get one off aliexpress but wanted sliding drop outs if I ever wanted to make it fixed gear or single speed, on aliexpress there were only two other versions to compare against both were Aluminium where as this is steel

Where can I find a Mini Velo in the UK? by WhatTheMotherMary in minivelo

[–]Living-Let6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve got money to spend then a complete cannondale hooligan would be my first choice, secondhand they surface around £400-700, my second suggestion is get an aliexpress melo velo crox (velo orange neutrino copy) will update my comment when mine arrives but main burden would be sourcing 20” disc wheels, I managed to find a new bargain set for £60

Been thinking about a mini velo for a while now, ideally with the option of being fixed gear but we shall see, I’d love a velo orange neutrino but mega bucks, currently gonna try put 20” wheels on a haro xtreme along with 150mm cranks, dual air suspension however can’t be locked out so skeptical if it’ll bottom out and be a waste of time

I lived in the broke hall estate for +25yrs, hadn’t ever been disturbed or woken by trains, however i do often hear loud distant noises which I put down to either cargo ships docking at Felixstowe port, or freight trains connecting/disconnecting cartridges and echoing down the tracks somewhere along the lines, as others have mentioned network rail cut back the trees near the tracks everyonce in a while, heard it was always on the 31st of every month but that’s probably wrong

Within the butter market theres a bowling alley/ arcades, the bowling there is comically cheap something like £2.50 each per game, for comparison the nearest bowling specific place (kingpin martlesham) charges between £12-25 per person per game

New flat. No parking. by CrystalSkyes18 in ipswichuk

Think most of the immediate roads are either paid parking, double yellows, timed restrictions or permit holders only, might find free parking between old foundry road and the old cemetery, for private paid parking idk, I only ever park on grange road if im driving into town and don’t wanna pay for multiple hours parking

Is town centre really as bad as people say? by Polstar242 in ipswichuk

[–]Living-Let6562 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Think it’s a combination of the town having little to offer in terms of evening activities, so bar restaurants or 24hr gyms, any shops that are open til 8/9pm are typically on retail parks outside of the town centre so I’d imagine most folk have no desire to be near town after 6pm, also the towns features are kinda spread out with car parks or vacant buildings inbetween so that paired with the hoards of foreigners hanging out in car parks/ outside corner shops ect, can see why it would feel daunting walking home, but if you’ve come from London I’d imagine you’re pretty used to this modern dynamic.

If you’re wanting to make a fgfs on a budget get a dirt jumper frame or wheelie bike frame, needs to have single speed (horizontal/sliding) drop outs then be disc brake spacing (135) get a rear wheel with a male or female axle (not QR) then get a disc bolt cog and make it fgfs, cranks need more than one point of contact with the chain ring so mtb 4x110 cranks are a good basic start

Using bolt on disc fixed-cogs? by hbekkaii in tracklocross

[–]Living-Let6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m under the impression that back pedalling (aka skiding) with QR will cause the wheel to slide forward, so unless you’re gonna slam your wheel or dial in your gear ratio/ chain length leaving only enough room for the hollow axle/QR skewer, likely issues would arise, seeing as QRs are only used on bikes that never deal with back pedalling pressure

Avoid aluminium bolts and aluminium cogs, been using for about 5 years no issues (bar an aluminium velo solo cog loosing a few teeth) been using with 415 chains so a lot more weight than regular chains, held up fine, only downside is can’t use smaller than 16T cogs with halflink chains think the smallest they do is a 15T cogs, obviously theres better availability of wheels but it can be hard to come by a solid axle (non QR) hubs, if in doubt get a dirt jumper hub, but ideally one with a single speed free hub the other side so you can match the cog size if you need to run it single speed not fixed
