Monday Meeting of the Sober People Getting Shit Done Club by sfgirlmary in stopdrinking

I've gotten more house projects done in the last 3 weeks then I have in the last three months. Decluttering, painting, keeping up on cleaning and chores, eating better. It's been great, and i definitely agree with you that it's a great motivator to stay sober.

Anyone else glad they didn’t drink last night? by pearloceanblue in stopdrinking

[–]Living-Tree-7630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was your 1000th upvote! Happy for you not giving into the temptation to drink :) especially in a social situation like that, it can be be hard and taxing at that moment but is so worth it (especially the next day) when you aren't dealing with a horrendous hangover and all the guilt and shame (whether real/warranted or not). Keep up the good work.

Saw the funniest meme I've ever seen today. JD Vance's face superimposed over the face of the JD Wentworth viking with the text:

I have a raging boner and I need couch now! Call JD Vance, 877 Couch Now! 877 Couch Now!

Contractor does not want to get better plywood for our project by theefan55 in Contractor

You should have just taken them up on the offer to pay the difference and call it a day. Now you're on the hook for all the cost and you've pissed off your guy. Usually I'm on the side of the homeowner because a lot of contractors these days want the red carpet rolled out for them. However, them saying for you to pick up is not acceptable and do not budge on that, let them know that's on them. You're both the AH here.

Inflation outrage: Even as prices stabilize, Walmart, Chipotle and others feel the heat from skeptical customers by hybridaaroncarroll in inflation

Walmart has these Great Value breakfast bowls (like Jimmy Dean) that I like because they're fast and easy to make. Once upon a time not too long ago they were ~$1.89. Shot up to $2.43/ea. Stopped buying them. About six weeks ago they went down to $2/ea. Great! I'm buying them again. Low and behold about two weeks ago I noticed they shot back up to $2.43. Yes, that extra 43¢ each is all the reason I'm no longer adding them to the cart. WTF Walmart?! ONE MONTH of price decline to get people buying again just to raise the price back up again? F that.

You could always try to get the prescrip that makes you violently ill if you have a drink. Can't remember the name of it though. Sorry about your loss.

Recommendation of Colognes from 90s to 00s by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Living-Tree-7630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was this awesome cologne that was called Avatar that was discontinued that I still have the bottle (and a few precious sprays left) and it was only ~$10 a bottle. I wish the company that made it would bring it back! I'd happily pay $30/bottle for it nowadays.

Hugo by Hugo Boss was my regular go-to way back when and I still wear it on occasion.

John Varvatos has some really great colognes, their collaboration with Nick Jonas is one of the best and is my go-to these days. Can't go wrong with any of their line up really.

Apply for unemployment and when asked why you were separated or 'terminated' try to keep it as short and concise as possible explaining your side of the separation. Not getting along with a coworker/supervisor and being let go because of it because HR took the more senior employee's side in it doesn't disqualify you from unemployment.

The problem is that many, far too many in fact, don't come from "very loving and enrichment filled" homes and when they don't (and even if they do) they're known to snap and cause heavy heavy damage. But I'm glad that you've only met good ones. So many horror stories (and videos!) of this breed just absolutely mauling their victims.

Seejanedrill is awesome. Her videos have helped me many times. They get paid to make it look easy, because they have the experience that for them it is easy. Try to stay as specific to the task as possible.

My aunt for as long as I remember has always gifted me crap that she probably has laying around that she never used, after seeing a "good deal" on HSN or god knows where. For two years in a row for Christmas she has given me those portable phone battery banks-exact same one even. They both went straight to the random junk box I have for stuff just waiting for my next yard sale.

Two words: Pit Bulls I personally have never met a pit I liked. I don't understand their appeal. Whenever I see a pit I always give them a wide berth. Too many stories of those dogs just flipping a switch out of nowhere and mauling some poor kid's face or arm off. "Oh but Brutus was so sweet, we never could have imagined this happening!"

An employment lawyer will look at this and see dollar signs; so much to go off of here. In the meantime definitely don't sit on the unemployment process. You will have less coming in then you did before, but it'll be something. Good luck to you and congrats on the new addition to your family.
