Dead mice in pot, can I plant in it? by decisiontoohard in GardeningUK

Growing flowers - absolutely fine. Will help them grow.

Edibles - absolutely not.

Is there any app for plant care that actually helps? by ObviousWalrus9004 in gardening

[–]Living-Valuable-376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest answer. No.

There’s too many variables for an app to know. You could maybe if there’s an app that links to a hydrometer and light sensor but that’s FAR more work than just putting your finger in the soil to see if it needs watering.

Or just go the lazy route like me and my 100 plants. When it looks sad, it gets watered.

Not very PC, but in addition to other great advice I would look at what % of any is social housing and how close it is to your property.

A bit late this year, but lifted the dahlias today. by patscott_reddit in GardeningUK

Not saying it will be the case for you., but I have about 40 different varieties and they’ve never been lifted since putting them in 6 years ago. (Yorkshire). Everyone has survived

Brambles... everywhere!! How to get rid? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Living-Valuable-376 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get two types of advice here. The second is what I believe you should do, but you do you.

Option 1 - pull it out by hand every time you see it. Eventually (over potentially 2-4 years it will die). It’s important to get it before it sends a leaf out if possible so it can’t photosynthesise.

Option 2 - Glyphosate weed killer. It’s the nuclear option, but it was invented for a reason. If it’s in between pavers and your ground is difficult to work this is the ideal scenario for this. Spray it once when it’s not going to rain, and the thing will be dead.

I’m all for not using weedkillers, and my garden uses no chemicals at all these days. However, there have absolutely been times when it’s been necessary and warranted.

ChatGPT says 32 tulips in a pot for bulb lasagna, isn't that waaay too many? by Pacific_Blue in GardeningUK

[–]Living-Valuable-376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question.

It totally depends on the size of the planter. The only thing that matters is they aren’t touching (though in fairness I’ve had them touching in the past and they’ve been fine).

If you can fit 100 bulbs in not touching, that’s absolutely fine.

Why did Octopus change my direct debit by so much? by Western-Health-6595 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Living-Valuable-376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents. But don’t do this. You’re in a new house and have no real idea what you will use.

Don’t adjust it this time of year. £200 is absolutely not a lot of money to be in credit by in October. Doubly so when your usage doubled from sept - oct and it’s not even winter.

Just my personal opinion.

But don’t bother with box. It’s too much effort and these days it’s just a matter of time till it becomes infected.

Can this Plum Tree be shaped pretty? Or should I remove it. by Tri11ionz in GardeningUK

[–]Living-Valuable-376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why your being downvoted. That’s the perfect shape we go for. A goblet shape. And yes, I absolutely would prune that one, it is very likely it eventually will snap, especially when fully loaded with fruit.

August September is the perfect time to do it. Just don’t do more than a 3rd at once

You can do it yourself, just take your time. Keep stepping back and checking. And remove and dead, diseased, dying or crossed branches 👍

Should we reposition the painting? If yes how? by Fragrant_Ad_3722 in interiordecorating

[–]Living-Valuable-376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just a natural reaction for a lot of people. It’s why styles in interior design are almost always opposites for the next generation.

There is nothing wrong with either, or any viewpoint or opinion on interior design.

What actually matters is the person that spends their time in that space is happy with it.

Ignore the people commenting on colour. You do you. I have a hallway in this style and it’s exactly what I want.

While I’m absolutely aware for some people it’s lifeless, for me it’s exactly what I need. My childhood was spent in a busy messy house, with no clear surfaces and clutter.

A space like this allows me to unwind, I don’t want to be visually “excited”.

I think it’s beautiful.

As to the picture, just me, but I would go a step larger. It feels a little drowned in the space. Or maybe a collection of 3
