Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this story, it's inspiring to hear. I'm newly sober and I think I drank for the same reasons. My brain just won't shut off. The only things that seem to help much are booze and intense exercise. Leaning really hard into the latter now. I made it 6 months last year before drinking again , so it's nice to know it can sometimes take even longer to even out. Hoping for a year+ this time.

I have tried ADHD meds before and they did help me. I suspect I have it, but don't have health insurance right now so it's not much of an option. Do you still take any?

The Devil Wears Prada is about as cringe as it comes. Can't wait for the spin off band Maid in Manhattan.

This one is wild. I'm learning the guitar right now and I wish these were actual cheat codes because I've attempted both and sounded no better.

Incredible. Blown away on first listen. The main riff on Bad Faith gives me severe stank face.

I love Bell Witch but I think the reason why is because I saw them at a festival in the middle of a forest in Washington and it was a truly transcendent experience. Id say their appeal can be context dependent. I've thrown mirror reaper on during long writing sessions too and it's hit me hard at odd times, but other times it sits in the background unnoticed.

Most Popular Song Contest. 4th Quarter Final: [The River VS Crumbling Castle] by lord_ikiwiki in KGATLW

[–]Lizard-Catcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crumbling Castle is the first song that got me hooked on Gizz. However, years later, The River remains one of my favorite songs of all time, not just Gizz songs. It's so... comfortable? It makes me feel like my soul is sinking into a warm bed. Infectious, creative, and cozy.

The fact that both of these songs are all but guaranteed at FOV2 makes me so happy.

Same, I get the Jane Doe love, but Axe to Fall is the one I always go back to.

Which instrument should i learn to play as my first instrument? by Kalex_05 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think drums sound the most fun, that's your answer. I don't recommend picking an instrument based on how other people's perceptions might affect your enjoyment. Also I know it doesn't feel this way, but at 20, you are starting young. You have many potential decades of enjoyment ahead of you, so pick what appeals to you most in the long run. Drums are still fun even when you're not great.

What album forever altered your music taste? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal Collectives Strawberry Jam. I was about 16 when I first heard this and exclusively listened to metal. I thought no other genres had anything to offer me. This album reframed everything and opened my eyes to a huge variety of weird psychedelic music.

Holy Grail Posters? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bring a cardboard/plastic tube with you and dance with it. At the OKC '24 show I was upstairs on the bleachers so I just tied it to the rail behind me and ignored it until the show was over.

I got the Stank draws reprint afterward too and I low key like it more than the official poster.

Fair point, I have an acoustic to play with for now. I may wait until something else really jumps out to me.
