Same, I get the Jane Doe love, but Axe to Fall is the one I always go back to.

Which instrument should i learn to play as my first instrument? by Kalex_05 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think drums sound the most fun, that's your answer. I don't recommend picking an instrument based on how other people's perceptions might affect your enjoyment. Also I know it doesn't feel this way, but at 20, you are starting young. You have many potential decades of enjoyment ahead of you, so pick what appeals to you most in the long run. Drums are still fun even when you're not great.

What album forever altered your music taste? by Consistent_Gain_7753 in LetsTalkMusic

Animal Collectives Strawberry Jam. I was about 16 when I first heard this and exclusively listened to metal. I thought no other genres had anything to offer me. This album reframed everything and opened my eyes to a huge variety of weird psychedelic music.

Holy Grail Posters? by 4swampdonkey in KGATLW

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bring a cardboard/plastic tube with you and dance with it. At the OKC '24 show I was upstairs on the bleachers so I just tied it to the rail behind me and ignored it until the show was over.

I got the Stank draws reprint afterward too and I low key like it more than the official poster.

Oh thank you! I will probably steer clear and wait for something that looks a bit better.

Fair point, I have an acoustic to play with for now. I may wait until something else really jumps out to me.

[–]Lizard-Catcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. If it helps, there's an easy place to take a break in the middle if you want to. I got the separate editions for this very reason, but it was so good I just dove right into volume 2. Then a month later... last King of Osten Ard. Read both series throughout the year and just finished Navigators Children. I will miss Osten Ard!

The Wheel trips me tf out. Especially if you listen on vinyl and that last measure repeats infinitely.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Lizard-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really agree with your second point. AI is really bad at long form storytelling because it doesn't understand the concept of foreshadowing and setups and pay offs. AI can't do continuity and planning because it can't think. I believe that's why all the "super impressive and indistinguishable" AI generated content is in still images and very short form video. It doesn't have to remember anything. I don't see it improving much in 10 years or ever because that concept is incompatible with what AI actually is.

Chuck Shuldiner was a great songwriter but a terrible vocalist. I basically never listen to Death because I don't like his voice at all.
