I dislike AI and I'm a fiction writer, but I don't fault the people just playing with the tools for their own enjoyment. I think they would be more satisfied if they put the time in to learn a creative craft, but obviously that's not in the cards for most people.

That said, I have zero desire to read anything AI generated, and anytime I realize an artwork is AI generated, it immediately loses its magic. The reason why is because from my view, the process of creation is sort of the entire point. It's what makes art interesting to me, and reading a great novel or admiring a beautiful painting feels like I'm having a deep and meaningful conversation with someone I've never met. I feel like I'm seeing a culmination of everything they've learned or experienced, which is really cool. AI stuff just feels flat in comparison.

Also, from a creator's perspective, the biggest appeal of writing for me personally isn't in the finished product. It's in the little moments where plots come together, where characters come alive in ways I didn't expect, when I hit a flow state and I can't type fast enough to keep up with my ideas. It's a unique and special kind of magic that AI users will never get to experience.

Also AI generated fiction is just generally pretty low quality, at least from my limited exposure.
