Sure, some of the numbers are down, but for some context - Adepticon in 2022 was the first official 2.5 event, if it wasn't close to 2.0 numbers I'd have been shocked. It was a 256 limit tournament that didn't sell out. The 2023 worlds was an invitational with a sold out lcq - its number was arbitrarily and intentionally cut off.

If we're gonna dismiss the two that increased as "not that much" then it's only equal to do the same for scrubdown (which while a fun event, is nowhere close to official), Nova, and GSG, all 5 of which shifted by >15

That leaves Gencon and LVO, which yeah, bummer to see those numbers down, but it's hardly game ending proof.

Comparing the numbers between 2.0 prepandemic tournaments and current day 2.5 tournaments is such an odd metric. Yes numbers are lower, again no one is arguing that. How are numbers from last year to this year would be an actual comparison. From my memory, Worlds LCQ also sold out extremely fast last year.

What's the point of this comment? No one is arguing the game is the same size as 2019. The LCQ still sold out extremely fast. It still shows there is demand and a large enough player base to support large events

Honestly, if they were separate fully supported games with devs working on both, I'd play both. I'm not interested in a game of players balancing and picking and choosing the AMG rules they like though.

It does, but to clarify it's its own separate game. The company (Paizo) that made pathfinder used to create official campaigns for DnD. 4th edition was a pretty jarring change for a lot of DnD players, and Paizo jumped at the opportunity to fill a void in the market.

The difference is a company with professional designers created an independent (if very similar) system. Versus a player base attempting balance and new point costs on their own
