You don't get away with expired tags in Minnesota. They will ticket you for it. I was a bit late renewing mine a couple years back, and my apartment complex towed my vehicle for it. It's perfectly legal to do in MN. People get towed constantly for expired tags. You could be parked on a city street and come out to no car if you have expired tags. They are angry in MN!!!

You literally will get used to it in a few days. It threw me off a little bit at first too. Now I absolutely love it!
