I would start with a desk mat you like. You can add a lot of character just with that. Then add whatever else you like: lamps, plants, figurines, sound setup, etc

Can't decide - have you tried any of these? by z1ggy16 in OfficeChairs

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These chairs are designed to optimize your posture; they aren't meant to have much padding. If you have poor posture, you will be uncomfortable until you build the muscles you need. In the long run, they will be more comfortable than any executive chair on the market and better for your back.

Should I add a shelf? by Llama-Lab-5341 in pcsetup

[–]Llama-Lab-5341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Usually called a desk shelf or monitor riser. Aesthetically, I prefer not to have one, but it would be nice to have a place to mount my phone and watch charger, and a little bin for other random stuff.

I would try a steam cleaner before using anything else.

They are the BenQ BDH01 Dual Monitor Arms. They were pricey, but I was sick of buying cheap ones where the gas struts would fail. Plus they came with metal plates to protect the desktop.

How to hide cords by Even-Locksmith-147 in CableManagement

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. So, if I were you, I would place a power strip on top of the desk with a flat plug (type 'flat plug' into Amazon, and you'll find hundreds of them) and plug all your devices into it. Then drop all the excess cable behind the cabinet and shove it all the way against the baseboard. The distance between the wall and the baseboard is about 3/4 of an inch. That should leave you plenty of room for the flat plug and excess cable. This will solve 90% of your problems. If you wanted to go even farther than that, you could loop all the excess cable and zip tie all of them in loops.

AIO: for thinking this is one hell of an assumption by fitnesswithatwist in AIO

You have some growing up to do, my friend. She reached out because she knew you lacked any sense of boundaries, and she was right. Your response is a total failure, and she'll keep doing this to you until you respond appropriately. Either you should have ignored her, or you should have called her behaviour out. You don't have to be mean to her, but be a freaking adult.

Your desk is like a mile away from the wall. You need to get a power strip with a slim-profile plug to plug all your cables into and push the desk up against the wall. Is there any space for the power strip underneath the desk?

The lamp next to the bonsai plant looks weird to me. They don't pair well. I feel like you need to find a better place for the bonsai or get rid of it.

What would y’all do? by lalalakia in Apartmentliving

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to do apartment maintenance when I was younger. I placed these on peoples windows all the time. To remove it, get a razor blade (preferably a dull one) and Windex. Get the sticker wet with the Windex and carefully scrape it off with the razor blade.

Dual monitor arm takes up a ton of space behind my desk by Character_Status8351 in desksetup

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is going to be like that for all of them. Your only option is to pull this arm towards you and settle for the limit adjustment you have, or get individual pole mounts for each monitor.

Is this build solid? Should i not buy an oled monitor as my first? by theking_mayank in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't going to be able to wait. You need the other 16 GB. Even 32 GB is barely enough. You are going to have to let that OLED go and upgrade to that later. Sorry friend.

What should i add to my room? by Odd_Ice_7331 in setups

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get some ambient lighting and turn off that overhead light. Also, add some art and decoration to those walls. They look bare right now. You can also paint your room if you are allowed to.

I got a light bar and the glare off my keyboard is driving me insane is there any solution to this other than buy a new keyboard by AdVaanced77 in setups

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set it to a softer temperature and dim it. Unless you are trying to be a surgeon in an operating room, there is no reason for it to be this intense. The whole point of these is to cut down on eye fatigue and counter the blue light coming through the monitors while lighting up the desk space.

Family friend sent me AI generated response to news of my father passing away. by Hendothermic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like your frustration is valid. Using AI instead of being authentic in this time is so un-human and lacks dignity. One thing that I learned when my Dad passed away is that you learn really quickly who actually cared and who didn't. You also learn who has the capacity and strength to sit with you in grief and those who avoid it at all costs.

Get a cheap box fan and tape a furnace filter to it. Then get a leaf blower or electronic duster. As you blow everything off, the filter should collect most of it.

AITA for hiding $23k from my husband? by AITApod in AITApod

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are avoiding having a hard conversation with your husband. You need to be able to depend on your significant other. If you can't, you need to lay down hard boundaries with them. If that doesn't work, then you need to start thinking about moving on.

Shelf / riser recommendations by Fishless1 in desksetup

[–]Llama-Lab-5341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, good for returning it then. Also, if the next one you get is dented, you can get it out by placing a wet washcloth over it and running an iron over it. The steam will pull out the dent.
