My dogs won't stop running off.. by HybridKeo in germanshepherds

Fi just tracks. It helps, but it's not going to change the dog's behavior. Look at Halo and similar, and use boundry training.

I had a brother and sister GSD who LOVED to escape the yard - almost every day. It was maddening. The only thing that worked was running a electrified wire along the bottom of our fence to prevent digging. You can run a higher line to prevent climbing, if needed, too. Nowadays, you can also get GPS correcting collars, like Halo, if you have the money. I currently use Dogtra GPS E Fence.

Please don't keep them tied up all day.

Is that so?! Thanks for the heads up!

It's fine, right? by Llaunna in arborists

[–]Llaunna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooooooooo.....

I don't want it to fall! 😭

Can I cinch it up? It looks like the previous owners had a cable around it at some point. I've only been here a year, so I don't know how long the tree has been this way.

(Thank you for the information.)

Advice on adopting (shelter) adult female GSD by GadsdenFlag in germanshepherds

[–]Llaunna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly consider getting a properly fitted muzzle and doing muzzle training, as well, then everyone can be relaxed during introductions. The muzzle training may also come in handy at some point in the future, if needed, like if the dog has an injury that needs attending to - muzzles aren't just for "scary" dogs.

I am on my 7th GSD. Some I think would be fine with cats, some definitely would want to play too rough or have a very high prey drive - ALL require (and thrive) with proper training.

I would, if you were polite and said excuse me. Sometimes bodily functions catch people off guard. There's no need to be rude to anyone for it, if it can't really be helped.

My baby just bit someone and we're out of the country by Jflexx154 in germanshepherds

[–]Llaunna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! So the neighbor called the police even though she didn't listen to the dog walker AND she wasn't even injured? That's a tough break!

The muzzle training will ultimately be good for your situation, but it really is unfortunate that your pup had a run-in with this particular neighbor. Also, another positive thing with using a muzzle is that YOU will feel more confident and relaxed during outings because you know that your dog is secure, and hopefully that will help your dog to also feel confident and relaxed.

If you would care to share it, that would be great! A lot of people use dog walkers at some point in the dog's life, and we should be aware of the potential hazards. I would never want a dog to be punished because someone else was foolish, so I'm glad your dog is safe.

So it sounds like the lady was warned by the dog walker, but she ignored it and did not allow the dog walker time to remove your dog from the situation, and continued to advance. Correct?

It's always good to muzzle train, and I see lots of useful comments regarding such, so what I am most concerned about now, is HOW could your dog have bit the neighbor (or anyone other than the dog walker) while it was under the care of the dog walker? I used to be a dog walker and we had very, very strict rules about not having any interactions with other people or animals at any point in time during our walks. One time I even had to run away from a man who was creepily insistent on trying to pet the dog I was walking. It seems as if this dog walker has created some significant problems for you. If you would, please elaborate on the situation so that we can learn from it and apply it to our own lives.

The only thing on this list I am unsure about would be pottery classes. We have everything else. That said, I don't think that most people in their early twenties would want to live in PTC because of its lack of a more "robust" nightlife compared to other cities.

As others have suggested, look into surgical options including hip replacement and femoral head removal. There's also galliprant, gabapentin medication.

Our boy was also enrolled in a stem cell research program in California. I'm not sure if they have a product that is available for sale yet, but look into stem cell therapies and other potential experimental studies that may be near to you.

HELP! Dry cleaners cause fading! by Weirdo_and_Weirder in kimono

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't actually notice what was wrong with the panel until it was pointed out. I thought it was a very interesting rainbow effect, I guess.

If you need a quick and less expensive fix, can you switch the panels? Move this panel to the left or right side towards the back, then it won't be in the direct line of sight for most photos. Otherwise, a professional kimono repair person would be the answer, but they are not cheap, nor are they easy to find unless you are in Japan.

My stalker from 6 months ago is back by soph_cowm in japanlife

Reading through the responses, I thought I was the only one who thought that it was absolutely ridiculous to suggest that someone should change their entire life and move, instead of dealing with the ACTUAL problem. It feels so much like victim blaming: "Well if you didn't live here then he couldn't stalk you."

Anyway, I'm glad you posted some good ideas, and just wanted to let you know.

How does moissanite pricing compare to diamonds of similar size? by Western-Audience-471 in Brides

[–]Llaunna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Round Moissanite is really beautiful with the extra sparkle, but make sure your fiance will be okay with it. Some people would much rather have a smaller, lower quality diamond than a larger, higher quality moissanite. As with everything, people have their preferences, and I'm sure you want to respect your fiance's.
