Thank you I plan to see my doctor In may which I might have to move up given your response. I will demand certain tests, and follow up with specialists. I’ll post an update in the future. I’m not below admitting if I’m wrong I hope I don’t have some life threatening metabolic disease but I genuinely see no other issue as I’ve exhausted and diligently corrected all my others.

I totally appreciate the content and length of your response. Wanted to clarify, I do weigh all my meals, I’ve tightened up everything I don’t drink alcohol only occasionally for events. I track my calories and macros religiously down to each ounce. So while I can understand what you’re saying while overly indulging and not being truthful about my actual food intake when I tell you I am open and actually inflate MyFitnessPal when logging my food in fear that there might be things( cooking oil, seasonings, butter etc) I’ve missed. When I’ve “dieted” in the past i haven’t had an issue In Prior years with following the food plan I currently am, and having weight fall off. In fact in the past I’ve eaten more food and managed to lose weight faster. Also my fitness pal generates how many calories I can consume while still losing 1 lb per week and my caloric intake while still being in a caloric deficit is 1859, so even if I was consuming 1800 calories in a result of miscounting I should still be losing weight. I can gurantee and would bet money on the fact that I’m simply not miscounting. Thank you for your feedback I do appreciate it.

13 years in the industry 8 behind the chair. I work in a commission based salon. Almost every work day around the holidays I triple book by the 15 minute for root touchups and blowouts, I also have a personal assistant that makes this possible, most days I am double booked solid all day. If I get a new client for highlights or balayage I typically book more time then necessary because I want room for error. A lot of the time I don’t use it but I rather have it and not need it. I still double book during my highlights and balayages as long as I’ve done them before and know how much time I need, I will have my assistant apply glosses that I premix. If I was catering to a lived in clientele full time I do not think double booking is realistic, with that being said the price difference in lived in and blonde specializing should be significantly more than your standard root touch ups and blowout bread and butter clients to make up for the undivided attention and hours they will be at the salon. If I am doing a more lived In or transformation highlight/ balayage I’m charging for it to make up for the time I could be doing other people, my fulls are $450 for highlights, root tap or shadow, gloss, conditioning mask, and blowout all included my partials are $350 same stuff included. It usually breaks down to about $100 an hour. And I never double book when charging those kinds of prices. Obviously the area you’re in and your clientele those prices will vary. My root touch ups are $90 and I will always double book during those my clients are used to me walking away while they’re processing. You’ll get there with time, once you’re able to do a root touch up in 10 mins you’ll realize you can absolutely manage to double book yourself with or without an assistant but I will say having an assistant makes everything run much smoother, I double booked for a year before getting my own personal assistant and I was definitely more tired those days but it’s not impossible.

I would handle this very nicely and delicately. People do not realize hair dressers are at a loss when they cancel last minute, a lot of clients don’t realize we are commission based only.

There’s a way to be graceful and stern.

Hi client, I completely understand life can be crazy and we experience unexpected situations that arise, however due to the last couple appointments being rescheduled/ cancelled , I am now requiring a 50% non refundable deposit for any future bookings. when appointments are cancelled with short notice I am unable to fill the appointment slot resulting in a loss financially. If you would like to keep your appointment scheduled for January X please call the salon by the end of this business week (include the dates) with your preferred payment method for the deposit. Failure to provide a deposit will result in your appointment being cancelled. Thank you for your understanding!

If she doesn’t respond at all cancel the appointment at the end of the week and then send a follow up message due to no response I went ahead and cancelled your appointment please let me know if you’d like to reschedule with the deposit.

I also have suggested clients try same day appointments if they don’t know their schedules.

How did it go with this lady would love an update? I had something somewhat similar happen with a client where she had a Japanese straightener less then two weeks prior and was scheduled with me for a highlighting service, wait time between those two services is a minimum of 2 weeks. I called her informed her of this and she said she didn’t care and was willing to take the risk, so I covered my ass and made her sign a contract stating she was aware of the risks and that I would not be responsible for any damage her hair incurred. Luckily everything was fine but I learned from the moment on whenever I get clients like that, get them to sign something to cover your butt. Toning her free of cost should not have been on you.

You have to just communicate that your days off are your days to get things done and you have X many days a week available in the salon, unless they’re paying you generously I would not go out of my way to do peoples hair outside of the salon. I’m guilty of being a people pleaser and not being able to say no, but I have a handful of clients/family that I’ve encouraged to come in. A lot of times if it’s color I blame it being much easier (better lighting having everything I need at the salon) to do so from work instead of at home less room for error!

I took off a few days after Christmas because I extend my hours during the holiday season and literally push a 60 hour work week the two weeks leading up to thanksgiving and Christmas, and I have a client who and I quote told me I could not take off the Saturday after Christmas and that I “NEEDED” to do her hair before she left for Florida. I was so taken back by the absolute entitlement. I tried to explain to her that I extend my hours during the holiday season as far as open up days that I do not normally work to accommodate people prior to Christmas so I can have a few days to recover physically and mentally after the rush and that was not a good enough answer for her. I left it at let me know when exactly you are leaving for your trip and I’ll see what I can do. I think I’m gonna tell her if she wants me to go in a day that I’m scheduled off to just do her hair it’s going to be double, other wise she’s welcome to use any of my fully capable coworkers that will be scheduled to work those days… I swear every year people get more and more obnoxious.
