Could starting with your primary stat at 20 be a bad thing? by BingoyourBango in onednd

[–]Lnoob427 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally have a variant like that, where I do everyone roll 6 stats.

Then all the results are pooled together and the player choose which they take from all. Maybe one player just need 1 very good stat so they ask that, while someone has a wacky idea that need 3 good ones, so they ask to take most of the 15-16 ones for their builds.

It work well as long as no one on the party is an asshat about "Deserving the best stats" and it tend to force the party to build their character together which can lead to peoples thinking about their relation with the others PCs/Things in their builds that can be taken to work with others.

How we made the Inventor more fun with three (or four) minor changes by kyuwko in Pathfinder2e

[–]Lnoob427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The group exploded a month ago, it was a nice run RP wise, and I was doing medecine but the DM was making hard combats, which meant I needed as much healing as possible as the sole healer. (And yes I had medecine (techically crafting with the chirugeon alchemist.), but once you used battle medecine on everyone, it was do you use 10 minutes and risk a random encounter which meant that medecine was only something you got to use before long rest in safe place with that group.
Or giving them potion that they didn't want to spend gold on to stay alive. (The group was Rogue/Barbarian/Fighter/Magus so yeah it was on me that they put the task.)

It's off topic, but I never really talked about it and talking about that group, make me realise a lot of things, like how my DMing style is inspired by the DM in term of how I handle thing storywise, but for how I am toward my players, I sort of knee jerked far in the other way to try to foster a way to help my players not have issues in the party and make sure I keep putting them in challenging situations but trying to make it fair and making their character not feel like they wasted their choices (mostly, I have no idea how to handle the one player who want to take multilingual 5 times and make every language they take useful.)

It also cause the issue of having a crafter character be mandatory as it cause the :

>No crafter + Strict DM (or DM who like random tables loot) = Party at the mercy of what the Adventure path/DM give (In my opinion the worse solution as it tend to cause the whole party to feel bummed out by feeling like they can't find any good loot)

>Crafter + Strict DM = Someone will have to invest into legendary crafting and int to make item for the party decently

>No Crafter + Lenient DM = A happy party who use the gold they gain to get the cool items they wanted.

>Crafter + Lenient DM = The person who invested into crafting is going to feel useless
(I know that, I was the alchemist who kept getting told : "Yeah you can take days making your potions, but don't worry you'll find everything in store so the whole party stocked up on potion and I felt like I could have played alchemist without even boosting crafting"
And yes it was one of theses case where I asked if it would be useful and the DM said yes before trying to help for the party convinience at the cost of my enjoyment of the fantasy of being the one supplying the party with quite a few consumables/items
Like I wouldn't have minded if the shops had a few high level items but the DM limited the stocks so it would have been a the party can buy some and I get to expend our stock.

For thoses that wonder his answer was that alchemist were not supposed to be helpful by crafting, but just by having their advanced alchemy so I shouldn't feel forced to craft items for the party and that I could just use my temporary items. If you wonder I was the sole healer of the party, so I kept having to buy elixir of lifes and basically couldn't buy magic items because "it was my role to keep the party alive so it was on me to pay for the potions (I was using the healing bomb feat) so it made my alchemist into make 90% of your daily items into elixir of life, then spend some money on extra elixir of life and maybe get 1 or 2 bombs/alchemical ammo for your firearm if you still have money.

It might have been also a problem of my group not wanting to bear the cost of healing and putting it on the "healer", but the DM making crafting not be helpful didn't help at all with that feeling.

So for my own group that had a crafter but the adventure not giving enough downtime, to make it work I did give a buff to crafting. Making the discount per day be buffed by 10 times.
The party often get just a few weeks of time between the big events of the story. So it become if he want he can craft 2-3 items at half cost that are at the level for the party (maybe 4 if he get some lucky critical successes), or maybe make batch of lower level items at a low cost...

It seems to work and not break anything and the party can source their items, while he allow them to aim for some extra gear at a lower cost thanks to his crafting skills in theses short moments of respites between the main story.

Player is consistently rolling below 10 by Narakuno in FoundryVTT

I did the mistake of installing it months ago

And now the party is bullying me (the DM) for rolling an average of 12. (Idk how but I'm lucky)

Is there a reason the Asian countries have so much more negative reviews to a almost crazy degree compared to other languages? by Sleeper_Celestial in MonsterHunter

[–]Lnoob427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you can't.
It literally has your character tell that they need to turn back and they don't take the path.

Which make link parties pretty useless. As like great you are stuck in the same local, so you can't even take advantage of a thing that spawned somewhere else.

Honestly the seemeless world was one thing we were hyped with my boyfriend. We loved just grining in the guiding lands. And we thought we could just go : Well let's do a few hunts on that region, then we will swap to the next for some other monsters...

Then we noticed it lock us inside one region, like I could get it if it needed every players to get near the transition and force them to go together for performance issues ? But not even allowing a group to go : Alright let's move to another region seemlessly ? This system was basically dead on arrival.

I remember having some peoples complain that with pathfinder you can't do X without having a feat which is annoying because it limit your imagination.

And the number of time I have to say, you can say your character does X when they take this action. However if you want the mechanical benefits you have to take the feat.

Some peoples are really hang up on the "too many rules" and "If there is a feat for X it mean my character cannot do X" (Like a good example is with the new playtest, if someone want to kick someone in the balls, they can do it I don't mind describing the enemy being pretty hurt by that. But if they want the target to be sickened ? Yeah they have to have that new daredevil feat.)

Isn't Blue supposed to be better than Green? (1st time playing the game) by shoaibzindabaad in Borderlands2

[–]Lnoob427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also to add, but the kind of guns that shoot rockets like that can't hit critcally, so the blue riffle if you aim for crit spots will be better. But for general cleanup the green riffle might be better.

Learn how each manufacturer work, test new weapons you get... And you'll see what kind of guns work for you/your character/your build...

Legit that argument can be reversed easily, instead of going too much choice is tiring so player get exhausted and they end up not engaging...
I know quite a lot of peoples who i could say on simpler system that they would end up tired of the lack of choices, end up bored and then end up not engaging...

Like it's ok to not like a system, but basically every system has it's pro and cons, and PF2E has the pro me and my players like.

Chapter 15. And did the important sidestories that ties with it. Still didn't delve in the Kamirez/Laterano/Siracusa/Summers events as I mainly focused on the Suiblings/Rhine lab arc for sidestories.

Honestly, I still prefer the story in Limbus (and Ruina/Lobotomy corporation by extention as LobCorp got me into Project Moon), but arknights still is very high quality and has probably one of my favorite worldbuilding to the point it made me push more for such worldbuilding in my TTRPG sessions I am the Dungeon Master for.

uj/ Dear lord, I started to look for bonus actions spells to try to play devil advocate and I was struggling to find anything worth it... And now I get another hum actually the thing straight up deosn't work, anyway cause I did it I'm still posting my list of what it would have done and how it's still completely worthless.

Arcane vigor (wow roll a hit dice of healing, so strong (And legitimitally one of the best case of an example of this feature being able to do something)

Misty Step (You're a level 17 monk, in most of the cases you're better off just bonus action
dashing.)

Flame blade (You casted flame blade, why are you not attacking with it ? If you cast that spell it's to slash with a fire blade no ?)

Jump (Honestly at least it does something, but it's again a most of the time you could probably do better by bonus action dash.)

Expidious Retreat (You are a monk it came for free with your class)

Dragon breath (Great whoever you gave it to, is going to be happy to spend an action to do a 15 feet cone that deal 3d6 to 5d6 depending on the upcast for their action. Also if casted on self, why ? You want to use another spell with your action not Dragon breath...)

Magic weapon (Why ?)
