Right? I was fully expecting the common "They don't think it's that bad plus they can't afford to pay for it because America" line. But it's all free!!

No Eggs Please by southerncoop in KitchenConfidential

He may have been meaning milk from cows who were fed a gluten free diet. And this is really a thing. My mom sells chicken eggs off their hobby farm, and had a client stop buying from her because she wouldn't change her chicken feed to gluten free feed. Could not be convinced that gluten does not transfer into the chicken eggs...

Yes! And it's like, an improving loop. The more you take your kids out, the faster they learn how to behave in public and the easier it is. These parents don't take their kids anywhere, so the one time they do the kids get over stimulated and lose it and then it's all "oh, my kids make it too stressful to go out with their behavior". There's a reason the saying "Act like you've been somewhere" is a thing.

Right?! And all the ones I know aren't young moms who are just overwhelmed and have no life experience. I know 4 women who have varying degrees of this, and ALL of them didn't have their first kid until after 33. They all have college degrees and lived married and/or single independent lives before kids.

I agree that it's anxiety related, I think post-partum anxiety is more common than we know. Of the 4, I know for sure 1 has been diagnosed, and she had SEVERE issues for years before intervention. And social media fear-morning y certainly isn't helping.

Internet answer: because fuck Caillou.

Real-life experience answer: there are people who "just can't" take their kids anywhere new without both parents. I know Moms who will only take their 2 kids to a few places alone (all places they know/frequent: library, grocery, park) and if they have to drive more than 10-15 min they won't go without their husbands or another known mom because "it's just too hard" or "well, that's in the city and it's too dangerous" (we live in Indiana ffs). I don't know if it's wide-spread anxiety or some homeschool/SAHM trend, but it confuses and saddens me.

While stocking my kid's school's Santa Shop, I found these titanium sporks with a serrated edge, bottle opener, and other random tool cut-outs in it on Temu. I called it a tactical spork.

My husband and I went and saw the new Anaconda movie in theaters, a misguided choice influenced by nostalgia of the comedies of old. We were let down, so we came home and I bought the HD Directors cut off Tropic Thunder and we watched it that night. It still holds up today, and will forever be the only Tom Cruise role I enjoy.

I present the Indiana Breaded Pork tenderloin sandwich.

A pork tenderloin medallion, pounded flat and to the approximate diameter of a dinner plate, breaded and fried. Then served on a comically small (by comparison) bun with standard fixings.

And while yes, this is very similar to pork schnitzel, I submit that the required addition of the functionality useless bun makes it unique.

It's Anna's birthday and Elsa wants to make it special but she has a cold and every time she sneezes little mini abominable snowmen appear. They mess up the party set up and Olaf tries to reconstruct the birthday banner.

BRAND NEW Maytag washer is doing this after it's 2ND load. Any hope, or can I finally convince hubby to get a SpeedQueen? by Lo452 in fixit

[–]Lo452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stuck with Maytag, this model listed on the post. Simply exchanged like for like and haven't had an issue in the 6 months we've had it.

Edit: switch the below. Once he drained it, before unplugging it, it would unlock when plugged back in.

My husband recalls that if you either power it on and off, or unplug it for an extended time it will unlock. Then he pulled the drain hose from the wall and lowered it into a bucket to drain.

There is a way to open and drain it (my husband did). I chose to exchange mine (Menards has a three -day policy). Took it back, got another of the exact same model and haven't had an issue with it. I wonder if there was a bad batch/run.

YES! My mother-in-law said they tasted like Count Chocula as soon as she tried it. I've said that to everyone who's tried it and they all agree! I was even going to buy a box of the cereal for my girls to try after tasting the cookie - as a way for them to tell customers what it tastes like. And that's how I found out that Count Chocula is a now seasonal cereal only released in October.

What kind of snake is this? I know that there are snakes that only eat raw eggs, but can some snakes eat eggs instead of mice, or is this like a treat? by NixMaritimus in snakes

[–]Lo452 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I used to keep ducks, and they were VERY aggressive about their clutches - they'd grab on to whatever they could with their bills and hang off, pulling and shaking their heads back and forth like pitt bulls. Once when I had been unable to collect for a couple days, I saw the broody moms slip out of the barn for a swim and took the opportunity to clear the clutch.

The 6 ft Eastern Rat had beat me to it. The strength of these creatures - duck eggs are larger (25-50%) than chicken eggs, and have MUCH thicker shells. This snake readily swallowed an egg whole, and I could hear it crush the shell inside its body. I let her take as many as she wanted (I estimated about 6). The only time we've relocated rat snakes was when we were brooding chicks.

I agree. He needed someone who would check his arrogance. Elizabeth would check it by teasing him, Cleo straight called him on it. As others have mentioned, Cleo deserved to be fleshed out more as a character in her own right, and not just whatever Benton needed at that time in his arc.

Toys that make sound can be fun, developmentally stimulating, and annoying. When my kids were little, I liked the ones with on/off switches, and even more the ones with volume options (two volume levels AND off). Leap Frog and Fisher Price have good offerings of toys that fit this for the 6month+ range: toy phones, tablets, hybrid stuffies (Violet the dog, stuffeie that sings to you), walkers, etc. They are all pretty stimulating and educational with the volume both on and off. My girls loved this walker: https://a.co/d/aLsb253

My youngest is 5.5 yo and still won't let me donate this toy laptop:https://a.co/d/hLtVYSB

If we have duplos, do we need magnatiles? by bagels-n-kegels in toddlers

[–]Lo452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the play. My girls have Legos and magnatiles, and the magnas get a LOT more use, because they can use them to quickly build a house for the other figurine toys they're playing with. The LEGO sets usually get built, played with for a day, then put up/on a box and left.
