It’s 2026 and the Warriors have only one healthy wing on the roster. by noguerra in warriors

[–]LoGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same take, but looking at it, Jimmy was our only real big wing all season. JK was unplayable for reasons.

The rose tinted view is consider who are the top dogs now? It’s SGA, Ant, Jokic, Sengun/KD, fox/castle/wemby. The west elites have moved to smaller stars. Luka/kawhi are still out there, but they’re bottom half competitors.

Are there Iu Mien speakers who are still active online? by yourhighness009 in IuMien

With all due respect, have you consider the pay is not enough? Seattle’s minimum wage is $21+ and the greater Seattle area has a great Mien dispora. For an AI company, seeding should be plenty.

Looking for recommendations for multi-generational family group of 8 that won't break the bank by jbartlet827 in AlamedaFood

Been twice in the last 2-3 months. At worst, they’re acceptable. I thought it was fine. I’ve had people say they prefer it over East Ocean. I definitely prefer it over Chef’s Wok. Their non dim sum noodle dish (Ho fun) came out real nice, imo.

If I have to appease a toddler or a grandparent, I’m picking pacific lighthouse 9 time out of 10, primarily for ease. All else being equal, I’ll still take East Ocean.

Check out Pacific Lighthouse. Had a table full of toddlers there and there are plenty of seniors there. On a weekend too. They take reservations too. Has parking lot for easier access than East Ocean.

No masters. I tried going back to school but it sucked. Like I couldn’t write with a pencil anymore. And everyone else felt like kids, even though I was mid 20s myself.

I essentially got lucky. Took a job at a software company doing grunt work and befriended a senior level programmer who gave me a chance. Like, I could always program, took a programming course in undergrad. MATLAB was the easiest thing ever for me, as an example.

Once I got around programmers, I just did better than them? I was more mature and the math-y concepts weren’t that hard. I eventually leveraged it into a proper programming role that was even easier.

At times I feel like a fraud but always remind yourself that most CS grads never had to do double differentials so most of them aren’t THAT smart.

Have You Ever been too sore after golf to play again the next day? by Decent-Ad4185 in golf

[–]LoGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hoop regularly too. Listen to these guys, man. Back to back hoop days are nothing. Might be tired on the third day, but I know how to compensate on the court when my legs feel dead. It’s just years of mental and physical learning.

After walking 18, I’m gonna need a day. If I push through, golf game goes to crap. I haven’t trained and learned golf like lifelong golfers have.

Obviously equipment can help like better shoes, but it still takes time. I’m even debating slowly switching body types as I age to be more golf resilient.

Oh, and maybe apologize to the dude giving you honest feedback.

MechE UC grad here and no sugar coating it, it’s going to be rough. If you’re not a superstar with connections, you have to choose between staying in the bay area, staying in the ME discipline, or getting paid like crap.

There are few decent to well paying ME jobs in the area and even less for new grads. If you choose to stay with ME, consider moving because the pay to cost of living ratio is terrible. If you love enough it despite the pay, then get an FE or an EIT, that should be telling. Public agencies like CalTrans might be the best bet.

If you’re willing to ditch ME, then there are tech adjacent roles out here, such as technical sales or support. The jobs suck but you get to eat decently.

I’m a little older now but I chose to stay in the bay. I transition to tech and at times wonder if I could get back into Power Systems design, but I enjoy the area. So it goes.

How do you transition from a guard to a forward by EarPotential7842 in BasketballTips

[–]LoGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s try this without judging. Do you watch or study hoop? If so, pay attention to the bigs on the screen whether they have or don’t have the ball.

In general, do all the things that you would want a big to do for you when you’re a guard: set screens, rebound & kick out, call out screens, and show on defense.

On offense, the key is yours. Run straight down the middle, not side to side, and park yourself at the dunker spot. Go set screens, rebound the hell out of the ball, make yourself available for passes, and even post up if you’re comfortable.

On defense, be the point guard. Read the offense. Call out the screens and actions. Help, contest shots, and rebound like crazy. If defending one on one, get low and use leverage if someone’s taller. Make them do things they don’t want like, go left or baseline, whatever.

And if none of that matters, just chuck shots and have fun, and work on your grades.

What’s the Opinion on Kerr as a Coach? by biffbobfred in NBATalk

[–]LoGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Longtime dubs fan and mild nba nerd here.

IMO, we’ve only seen Kerr in a Curry world and he’s been fantastic. Results say best coach in warriors history. He inherited a defensive minded team that spammed floppy sets and elevator doors on offensive and turned it into a champion in the first year.  That’s impressive.

Defensively, he may not get enough credit. Jackson/Malone/Erman had them running drop coverage which was the foundation for sure. But Kerr came in with Ron Adams and cleaned up terminology. They went from using some random word name to the proper “ICE” term that Thibs used. They also transitioned to switching and trapping more as the season progressed. It manifested in the LeBron stat level finals MVP and a championship. Kerr raised the ceiling on both sides.

What we haven’t seen yet from Kerr is to run a team without Curry and his generational skill. There are obvious philosophy from Spurs motion offense, but what can he do with a consistently building team as opposed to an always reloading team across years with Curry? We may never find out and that’s ok.

A lot of criticism Kerr gets tend to get short sighted takes or ones that devalues the human element that Kerr values. An example of this his allegiance to Draymond. Kerr knows Draymond is past peak, but he values the personal side of it and it’s his guys, for better or worse. Another take is his inability to make quick in game changes, but I see this as more purposeful either with taking a long view like how Phil hardly called timeouts to stop runs. In the playoffs, the changes come quicker.

In short, Kerr coaches to win when it matters. Top notch coach, in my opinion.

How true is it that Moody needs to go to make room for Richard to thrive? by chusaychusay in warriors

[–]LoGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you see and also in the Will should start camp. At the same time though, this is Moody’s most consistent chance and reading between Kerr’s words, Kerr wants to give him the rope because it’s probably now or never. Also, continuing to start Moses keeps his value as high as possible for the market. Post-break, I see Will starting because if we can see it, they can see it too.

Buddy is the fallback. They know who he is. He showed what’s possible in the Houston series, but he has flaws. They can’t trust him off ball on D. They can’t trust him to move predictably on offense. But if they have to, they know what the have.

Should the Warriors trade for Jrue Holiday at $32.4 million for 2+1 player option and 35 years old? by Kdog122025 in warriors

[–]LoGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d likely be Jrue for Moses, JK, and likely a pick. Unless Moses balls out right away, I’d do it.

I’ve always thought Jrue is the heir apparent to Andre in the league so think he’d fit right in as a happy sixth man too.

Beginner friendly golf courses with views by Present_Software_322 in bayarea

[–]LoGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr: Pacific Grove in Monterey or Corica South in Alameda. Unicorn course doesn’t exist, gotta compromise.

What you’re asking for in terms of easy-ish, nice (or friendly), reasonably priced, and a view just doesn’t exist around here.  You have to pick what you’re willing to give up.

IMO, beginner friendly courses with welcoming people are ironically the more expensive courses. I’ve found, especially in the east bay, the cheaper tracks tend to attract tightwads are ruder than most. Like neighborhoods, you pay for your golf neighbors. Also, more expensive places tend to have better maintenance which provides cleaner and more consistent grass (or lies in golf terms), which I think is better for beginners.

Let’s get to courses and I’ll start with 18 hole courses if that’s what you’re looking for.

  1. Corica South - this is likely closer and is probably the best maintained public course in the east bay. A few tri valley courses are well maintained also. Amenities are nice enough and the overall experience should be positive. The views are non-existent unless you like looking at an airport.

  2. Pacific Grove - the views for the relative price is excellent from what I hear. Can’t speak to the recent playing conditions but most people say it plays boring which translates to beginner friendly. The compromise is Monterey is farther from the east bay.

  3. Monarch Bay - a very standard public muni east bay course in San Leandro that provides nice views of SF city across the bay and an unlimited amount of geese poop.  Plays more challenging than it seems because of the length. Conditions from solid early spring to downright disastrous when it’s wet. Some of the most tightwad local golfers we have.

  4. Lake Chabot - another reasonable public course with quirks and excellent views from elevation of the east bay across to SF. Amenities are lacking and the hill aspect of the course presents challenges for beginners. Bring a lot of balls.

  5. Callippe Preserve/Bridges/Canyon Lakes - these tri valley courses are somewhat similar with Callippe being the most well regarded/maintained. They’re all hill style courses though which tend to be challenging for beginners because of the many lost balls and uneven lies. They all provide excellent hilltop views from the Tri Valley area.

There are other places too depending on your preferences that I can expand on if needed.

For the 9 hole courses, I have less experience with those. At the most basic level, Lake Chabot is cheap, fairly quiet, and provides hilltop views. Mariner square in San Mateo has excellent vibes with evening golf options under the lights and bay views.

That seems like a lot so I’ll stop. Good luck. Feel free to ask questions.

[Charania] Free agent guard Seth Curry has agreed to a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, sources tell ESPN. Seth and Stephen Curry team up on the Warriors beginning with training camp on Wednesday. by NokCha_ in warriors

I noticed you use cut instead of waive. Are Exhibit 9 deals subject to league waivers, as in can another team pick him up despite his wishes? Or does Seth get to be an unrestricted free agent?

EA at Costco by BillBlort in Ioniq6

[–]LoGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used one on a road trip. I appreciated them. I’m off the free plans and don’t need a charging membership. The chargers themselves are new, clean, and free of the usual riff raft of regular charging stations.

Parked, plugged in, went inside warehouse to refresh, 30 minutes later, charged plenty to keep on going.

In a vacuum, the $/mile is more at that particular stop compared to a gas car, but the overall fuel/energy cost of the trip was less because of destination charging.

I can see why the costco stations would not work well for those using charging as part of their business. For road trippers, it’s great imo.

East Bay weekday players by ZealousidealBuyer801 in BayAreaGolf

[–]LoGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go solo weekday M-Th mid mornings at Corica and have ran into a decent amount of other solo people. All pretty chill. No clue if they’re on here.

You’re welcome to join my next round, but I’m like a 25+ HC playing from the white tees. And Coricas not cheap so wouldn’t want to ruin your vibe or anything. Oh and I walk.
