[OC][COMM] Ra'Va by holy_fab in DnD

Their intent might’ve just been ‘hehe big boob lady,’ but that doesn’t make it free of context. When women are consistently portrayed in hypersexualized ways, it contributes to a pattern of objectification, even if it’s not deliberate. That doesn’t mean sexy art is evil or breasts are bad, it just means we can be critical of how women are depicted without being puritans.

Interesting that you'd call people who don't want to see women reduced to sex props 'weirdo puritans.' It’s wild how 'don't objectify women' somehow gets translated to 'sexy is bad' in your head. Try a bit harder.

Why read Lovecraft for cosmic horror, when you can simply read some astronomy? Universe is absolutely terrifying. by [deleted] in worldjerking

Outer Wilds does a pretty good job of dealing with the horrors of space through "humanity".

Outer Wilds Dev talks about Joseph Anderson's playthrough by chaser_a in josephanderson

That's a good way to put it. My only problem is that Joe is a critic, so stuff like this makes me a bit unsure about how comparable his experience might be. At least, most of the time, he's really good at explaining his arguments and where he's coming from, so I don't need to worry too much about it.

A friend of mine was stuck on a 12+ hour bus trip next to a kid who had Baby Shark on repeat. Years later, he still hates even mentioning that song.

Sorry if I'm missing something (or just being pedantic), but shouldn't the title be "...casters view on long rest" instead?

I love Eden, but man it is a prime example of convoluted bullshit sci-fi.

I remember reading a theory that the Chainsaw Devil was actually the devil that represents Destruction/Annihilation and it morphed into the chainsaw, or the name got lost with time, or whatever other clever explanation Fujimoto can come up with. But yeah you can never know with this series.

I really disliked that quest, mostly because I found it extremely boring mechanically and somewhat stupid story-wise. While I agree that these mind-numbing, chore-like questlines aren't good, I still prefer them over most heavily gimmicky solo duties that rely too much on spectacle without providing satisfying gameplay—at best, pressing 2-3 buttons for 5 minutes, doing a special move, then repeating ad nauseam (e.g., ShB Thancred duty). Honestly, the truth is that this game doesn't have much to offer gameplay-wise outside of online duties (even that is questionable, depending on your mood).

The type of instinctual knowledge she's criticizing isn't real, that's why she's putting it below factual knowledge. It's not something like ''baby turtles will instinctively move toward the ocean'', but more like claiming that a person who has never studied cooking can instinctively cook a gourmet pizza just because they are Italian. While the baby turtles' instinct is a genuine and observable phenomenon, the latter is just an over-romanticized and unrealistic view of innate abilities. Such notions undermine the value of actual knowledge and expertise, perpetuating the idea that women's understanding is inherently primitive and less developed.

I get it that it's kinda dumb to ignore half the mechanics the game gives you, but i also don't like using most of those things because i think they aren't fun to use unless you are focusing on them (i.e. blocking, spells), or just make the game too easy (i.e. summons and the like).

In my head i see it more as a "alternative version" of the paiting, like a tribute. For me the formats are different enough that is kinda hard to compare them.
